McLean Motors car service

McLean Motors, Everton Hills, Qld - overcharging, dishonest and unreliable service

I contacted McLean Motors on 28 May, 2013, as I was impressed by the statements found in: http://www.car-services-everton-hills.servauto.com.au/ : "Established in 1972, the extensive McLean Motor Mechanics Everton Hills customer base has been built through word of mouth suggesting that our car service and repairs are competitively priced and worth talking about.
The modern McLean Motor Mechanics Everton Hills car service and repairs workshop centre is both owned and operated by head mechanicCameron McLean who along with his highly qualified team of automotive repair technicians promise car service and repairs satisfaction"..
.."Using only quality replacement parts for any genuine repair requirement, McLean Motor Mechanics Everton Hills is a true dealership alternative when it comes to new vehicle log book servicing"..
I was given a quote for the 20, 000 km REGULAR service of my Citroen 4 for $280- $300. Since this quote was much lower than the one given by the Brisbane Citroen in Bowen Hills ($410), I booked the car for the service for Friday, 31 May, 2013, thinking that I made a good decision. I brought the car to the workshop in the morning on 31 May and advised the reception that the car required only a STANDARD service and that the left brake light did not work. I was assured that the car was in good hands and that everything would be checked thoroughly.
When I arrived to collect my car in the afternoon, I was asked to pay $626.42 for the service, which included $25.00 for the use of the courtesy car (ancient toyota).
I was shocked that the price for the service was 100% higher than quoted and expressed my disappointment. I did pay for the service though and was advised that I will be contacted on Monday in this regard. They did contact me and said that they "overcharged $100" and would pay back. They did not. I wrote to the owner of the workshop - he emailed me promising to clarify the issue by the next working day. That was three weeks ago and I'm still waiting for his response. And they even did not bother to fix the brake light ! Overall - COSTLY and BAD experience.
