bait and switch
For the second time, I ordered shoes. The website said they were in stock. A week later, I was told that it would be a three month wait for my shoes. This is the second time they have done this to me. The first time, they said my shoes were in stock, but after paying, I had to wait EIGHTMONTHS for my order to be filled. They are very deceitful. They made promises that they cannot keep, take your money, then keep you hanging for the better part of a year.
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.
Poor Service
Hitchcock was a great company to deal with before 2010. I could count on the consistency so much that when my supply of canvas sneakers in the closet got low I would just have my wife order another 5 pairs. (She would do this every 4-5 years.) I wear 9 EEE and each shoe was perfect out of the box. This was from about 1990 to 2009. Then Hitchcock switched to the "generous fitting Madison Sport last". When the first pair I tried on didn't fit (way too big), my wife returned them and a couple of weeks ago I called to see what size I should order since everyone else's 9 EEE evidently doesn't go with the Madison Sport last. Customer Service asked me how many fingers I could get in the back of the shoe as this was a usual problem. I told them that I had already returned the shoes and didn't know. They recommended I try the 8 EEE which came yesterday. It was a whole inch too long in the toe. When I called Customer Service and told them they said that this is just the way things are (read "forget you wide foot people"). I am returning these shoes (they did agree to pay the shipping) and will have to find an alternative. When I was a teenager I bought my wide sneakers from Vans, but they stopped serving this market in the late 1980's. At least they were up front about it. It appears that Hitchcock has decided to go the same route. I hope some other shoe company steps up to fill their shoes (pun intended.)
