Columbia Asia Hospital Kolkata reviews and complaints

We had an appointment today with Dr. Kasturi Bauhmik at Columbia Hospital. My wife is an American citizen; and the charges this hospital charged to register and other charges were different from what I spoke to them on the phone. The receptionist made clear that foreigners have to pay extra, no matter what. So we paid extra and we were asked to rush to the emergency ahead of the appointment because my wife had a boil on her arm. They made us sit in the emergency room for about an hour and Dr. Sabyasachi Goswami came and suggested we show to Dr. Kasturi. Dr. Kasturi came 2 hours late and we waited forever. When she came, before even asking questions or patients history, she gave a bunch of medicines. At pharmacy, they didn't have all the medicines. We just got medicines of her boil and NOT pregnancy related. It felt like we just went there for the boil and not the pregnancy... Moreover, we were charged for "three consultations" when there was only one. The people started arguing with me stating that my wife was seen by Dr. Sabyasachi even when he just asked us to consult Dr. Kasturi. This is insane and ridiculous and nobody to take action. I don't know what to do because nobody helped and we paid so much but Dr. Kasturi didn't take interest. She just asked my wife to take a bunch of medicines without any knowledge of her medical history or diet. How can any doctor ask their patients to take bunch of medicines without asking their medical history or taking interest in anything? We came to this hospital because it is supposed to be the leading facility for international patients but after spending so much time and money we left feeling frustrated and confused instead of comforted and reassured like good doctors should treat patients. We do not think that we will be returning to this hospital ever again. We will also ask all our international friends who wanted to visit this hospital to never go there.

A Horrible Experience for Service Industry!
Message It was a painful experience I encountered a few minutes ago. I came to see Dr. Soumitra Dutta for my 5 years old baby girl as she was suffering from high fever and severe cough & cold. Once we reached the counter after payment and all formalities around 3 pm, it was told us by a lady 'Debarati' that they only can issue serial numbers from 3:30 pm. We started waiting just near the counter. Once we reached the counter exactly at 3:30 pm, it was told that our serial is 5. While requesting for an explanation, a very rude gentleman 'Amit' said that 4 people came just before me. If they came before me then they were there before. 3:30, so how could they get the serial numbers which were supposed to be allotted from 3:30 only? Amit refused to give me an explanation and behaved rather rudely. I was there for the last 35 minutes and constantly looked the way he started giving serial numbers to the people came even at 3:15 just after Debarati left the counter. This is not expected from a company like you and to add, it was a dark black patch on the face of Service Induatry where I've spent 14 years in 5 star hotels in Malaysia, Dubai, Maldives and in India an an executive team member of the group.
