Chubb security South Africa reviews and complaints
Service provided
Reading all the other complaints I am now scared! I contracted Chubb Security to monitor my home through Free Alarms. I paid up front for the whole year on 01/08/2016 and was informed that they would link me within that week. After not hearing from anybody and not getting through to Free Alarms who contracted me I finally called Chubb direct. I spoke to Martin Botha who confirmed that they had received my payment and that they would link me up ASAP. I received a message from Free Alarms that the technicians would be at my home this morning at 08:00 as I informed them that I had a busy day due to previous commitments and could not make it later.
To my not suprize nobody arrived at 08:00. I called Free Alarms but as normal their phone goes unanswered. I have called Chubb several times this morning and have finally spoken to the manager (Thando) on duty who is trying to see if he can sort out the situation.
Lets see how far this gets because I was told now that fortunately nothing will be done today...
The service I have received to date from Free Alarm as well as Chubb has been quite disgusting! I mean seriously - I paid 1 year upfront on 01/08/16 and we are today sitting on 20/08/16 and I am still not linked up! - not only is that bad service, but makes me question my future security as well!
Home security - Not
We live in Fish Hoek Cape Town. After receiving an offer for a 'Free alarm' we decided to move to Chubb. We'd been with ADT for the past 15 years - so we didn't take this decision lightly. The new alarm was installed by a company called Free alarms - they are contracted to Chubb to do all new installations. Since inception the new alarm has given us endless problems - and months later we are still having to deactivate various zones due to false triggering. Despite numerous phone calls and escalations (20+), emails (5+) over the past 3 months since installation - problems still persist. False triggering of a specific zone (6) has forced us to deactivate the zone just so that we can get some sleep. Whilst this may not sound like an issue - deactivating a perimeter zone means we have a gaping hole in our security system. Despite all the phone calls and emails and assurances from Chubb and Free Alarms (Chubb) that the problem would be resolved - we are no closer to resolution. To add insult to injury - Chubb had the cheek to send us an additional invoice last month for over R600! for excessive response/call outs - zone 6. Naturally I've sent letters of complaint and filled in a complaint form on their website - but three weeks on and we are still waiting for a response. Chubb have to be the worst security company we have dealt with and we strongly urge people not to fall for their 'free alarm' offer. It turns out that the alarm system they install has significant limitations weaknesses such as: * No zone number would be detected by Chubb monitoring (you need to pay for this basic feature) * The alarm did not have an audio tone to detect when it was on or off (when first installed - subsequently fixed) * There is a minute green light on the panel which indicates the armed status. To see this light you literally have to be standing directly in front of the panel – nullifying any benefit of the remote. * No support for window break sensors In fact they thought the problem with zone 6 were ADT's sensors so they removed all of them - but the problem still exists! We would like to cancel the Chubb agreement but are not sure if we can.
