I had my Jeep towed after 10pm on Saturday, January 19th, 2019 because a parking ban had been enforced. I was parked in front of 56 Broadway, Taunton. I didn't even realize a ban was in effect because the snowstorm pretty much fizzled out and we literally got maybe 1-2 inches then rain.
So, Sunday, January 20th, 2019 I went to the police station and paid $20 to get the release paperwork for my Jeep. I was told that R&F Motors on 35 Dana St in Taunton would or SHOULD be open until 2pm (ish).
I was able to get a ride to the tow lot and arrived a few minutes past 12pm, I believe it was around 12:08pm when I looked at the time. THERE IS A SIGN on the front of the building, written in red that states "Car releases weekends and holidays 12pm-2pm" YET THE BUSINESS WAS CLOSED AND WON'T REOPEN UNTIL TUESDAY MORNING. Tuesday, Jan. 22nd 2019. That's now THREE days/nights I will be charged to have my Jeep just sit. WHY ISN'T IT A LAW OR A CLAUSE IN THE LAW STATING THAT "SAID" TOW COMPANY MUST BE AVAILABLE FOR CAR RELEASES FOR A CERTAIN AMOUNT OF TIME AFTER THE TOW? There are a lot of very angry residents who had their cars towed and now will miss work or won't have their cars in emergency situations because the damned tow company won't honor it advertising on the building? I, myself, cannot afford to pay the fee to get my car out now. How is this even legal? Sounds pretty corrupt to me...why is the Mayor letting these tow companies get away with such greed? Seems to me that this tow company should honor the time/date of the paper release and not charge for time beyond that.
