I switched to Quantum Fiber in August 2025, and the experience has been frustrating from the beginning.
During the initial installation, the first crew did the work incorrectly, so the entire installation had to be redone. That process took three days. During the second installation, the crew pulled fiber from a vault across the street, ran it under the street, and routed it around the house to the external connection box.
The service worked for about two weeks before I lost internet again. I called support, and after troubleshooting, they determined there was a dead signal and scheduled a technician. Before the technician arrived, I checked the vault in my neighbor’s yard and found a cut cable lying in the grass. The cable had not been buried; it had simply been tucked into the grass. When the grass was mowed, the mower cut the cable.
When the technician arrived the next day, he said, “Here we go again. I’ve been fixing these for the last three weeks.” He also said Quantum uses third-party contractors for cabling to save money, and in his experience, the work is often not done correctly. He spliced the cable and buried the exposed section in my neighbor’s yard, and my internet was restored.
Fast forward to February 2026. I noticed more cable exposed in the grass because the winter grass was not growing as much. I tried to bury part of it myself and called Quantum again. A few days later, a technician came out to inspect it. He found even more exposed cable, took pictures, and said someone would be out to properly bury the line. No one ever showed up.
On May 3, 2026, my landscaper found another exposed section of cable the hard way — with the mower. Once again, I had no internet. I called Quantum, and they sent a technician the next day. This time, the technician connected a new cable to a vault in another neighbor’s yard. The new cable was run approximately 75 feet across my yard, across my driveway, and around the side of my house. He said someone would be out within a day or two to bury it. Again, no one showed up.
On May 8, I called about the exposed cable and was told it would be fixed on May 12. When I followed up, the date had been changed to May 22. That appointment never happened either.
On May 29, I called again and was told I would receive an email with a scheduled appointment. I never received one.
On June 1, I spent 58 minutes on the phone and only made progress after speaking with a supervisor and stating that I was filing a complaint with the state attorney general’s consumer complaint department. I finally received an email from the supervisor with a scheduled appointment. We’ll see if anyone actually shows up.
So far, I have spent 6 hours and 41 minutes on the phone with Quantum Fiber trying to resolve problems caused by improperly installed and repeatedly exposed fiber lines.
The service itself works when the cable is intact, but the installation quality, follow-through, communication, and accountability have been extremely poor. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend Quantum Fiber unless they make serious improvements to how they install, bury, schedule, and support their service.
