Amigo did the same thing to us when NPC went out of business. We ended up with Amigo for a week while we transferred to the company we chose.
Just because our power company goes out of business, we all have to pay these outrageous fees? Ours was $400 for one week!
We should all NOT PAY Amigo and teach them a lesson about ripping off people.
I ordered something from www.asseenontv.com. They sent the WRONG item and I couldn't get them to send the right one.
I emailed 3 times and got no response. I tried calling twice during normal business hours but got an answering machine saying their hours are "9-5" with no time zone. Not able to leave a message.
Warning: You'll get ripped off if you order from this website.
I already posted about www.asseenontv.com sending me (and charging me) for the wrong item and I can't get ahold of them either by email or phone.
But it's worth repeating: AS SEEN ON TV WILL RIP YOU OFF.
This company now calls itself Public Records Online. They are SCAMMERS.
You pay $29.99 to "register." When you get in they want more money to "view details." Nothing is mentioned before you resigter that there will be additional fees.
If you agree to pay the extra amount, you implicitly agree (by clicking to pay it) to a re-occuring charge of $19.95 PER MONTH.
Many public records are NOT FREE. It depends on each state and how they are set up. Many states/cities charge online fees to search their databases or don't provide the data online. Case in point: San Jose's online real property search won't give the owner's names. Las Vegas' online website does.
