Any company is allowed to refuse to cash a check or money order whenever they choose on whatever grounds they choose.
Maybe in the cashier's mind, she wasn't lying. People perceive things differently, and maybe you too didn't understand each other.
You strike me as a person who causes a lot of trouble to the people in the customer service industry because you think you are entitled to worship.
And yes, those unemployed americans would like to have a job, but really, they wouldn't love to be working at a bank for minimum wage. No one does. No one likes to be yelled at all day in a job where you are paid poorly with no chances for promotions.
I've never personally worked for the companies that you are describing, but let me tell you this. Customer service has gotten worse, but customers have gotten worse as well. More customers curse, and some get physically violent. I have gotten my life threatened by someone who didn't get a coupon. People are ridiculous with their demands. So yes, customer service sucks, but the customers they are servicing suck too.
Also, I have been told by countless customers that I am one of the nicest customer service individuals they have ever met, and I still get my fair share of jerks. We are bound to company policy and angry customers take it out on whoever they can, even if it's not our fault.
Woah, internet must be really cheap where you live if $36 is ridiculous.
I'm sorry you think I assumed you were any type of person, I was just letting you know the vibe I received from your comments. I do not assume people are anything over the internet. Sorry again.
I have never been rude to a customer. Ever. And it makes me sad that some people truly are outright rude (some people are just rude people in and out of work). The only point I was trying to make is that it is not always so simple as the service person was rude(maybe they were ill, or had lost someone they cared about, or there was simply a miscommunication). They are human beings as well. I was in no way trying to excuse rude customer service reps. I was just trying to make the picture a little larger.
And the "customer is always right" is not true and never has been. No business model can run off of that. However, customers should be given courtesy and respect.
As a customer, I have to say I've been treated pretty well. But your views do change a little working in the service industry. The few times I've had someone be not-so-great, I usually assume they've got something else going on, not that I've upset them. I am truly sorry you have had such a terrible experience and I do hope that it improves in the future. I just think it's helpful to remember that there still are some good customer service reps out there.
I doubt they are doing it on purpose, though it is a rather inconvenient and unfortunate string of events.
It isn't for the online services is it? Because to get all that content it does cost money.
If she had reason to believe you were purchasing for minor (any reason, even a seemingly ridiculous one), she was in her right to refuse the sale. She will most likely not get in trouble for this.
I used to work in a job where I sold cigarrettes, and if at any time you suspect someone may be buying for a minor for ANY reason, you can refuse the sale to the customer.

I hope someone makes a complaint about their dad. It could go like this:
Dad,
Why didn't you let me go to the movies yesterday? I know I'm grounded but Becky triple dog dared me to steal that purse at the mall. She TRIPLE DOG DARED ME. Do you not understand the gravity of the situation? You are so out of touch.
The "red ring of death" is a huge manufacturing flaw, but it's also incredibly common and well-known about with the public. It was pretty much discovered as soon as it came out. Always make sure to check user complaints before purchasing something so expensive. Sorry it happened to you.
It's not just staples. It's many companies.
No one respects the president regardless of race.
It's a business, what do you expect? Amazon has to pay for server traffic and other things like that that amazon sellers don't pay for. They need to turn a profit too.
I think if there was any prejucide here (though I see none), it was sexism, not racism. I agree with the others though, no one can know this man's intentions.
It's "while supplies last" and "restrictions may apply." I looked in up on their site under "legal".
Find out the names of the employees and report it to management if you haven't.
Why did you post an address and phone number?
I also believe this is a joke, otherwise the poster is an awful excuse for a human being, not to mention a complete and total ### and failure.
While they probably should have noticed you, you could've just interrupted and asked someone for help.
While I can see how that would be frustrating, as a holder of credit provided to you by another company (ie: not your money), you need to accept that the credit line never truly belongs to you, and that even one late payment can jeopardize your credit. They are not at fault whatsoever. You paid late, you are to blame.
Hmm, that is odd, they should be more forgiving. I'm guessing they just have strict credit policies. Strange.
I think these sites are awful, BUT the reason your man cheated on you was because he wanted to and the reason other people cheat on their spouses is because they want to. Even if these sites didn't exist, people will still be unfaithful.
