I can see why the manager was upset that you called her at midnight at her home. The staff at the hotel was in the wrong but I don't think you should have used 411 to get her home number. How would you like it if your phone wakes you up at midnight. I'd panic and think it was an emergency, or someone with terrible family related news. Who else calls at midnight? Then I would have been startled, scared, confused, hazy and then relieved that it wasn't any of those things. And THEN I would've gotten irritated that an upset guest had ferreted out my home number to complain to me about an unmade bed at 12 AM.
I'm sure that is why you received so little assistance or sympathy from her. You should have waited until the next morning to make that call. And the manager (who perhaps then would have been cheerful from a good night's sleep) should have apologized, given you a discount, officially disciplined the employee and then apologized again.

I just wanted to say how I'm sorry for what all of you had to go through. I've read this entire thread and it is CRYSTAL clear that you all were taken advantage of and terribly mistreated. I want all of you to know that any sane reasonable person would believe you have been scammed and abused.

it doesn't matter if givenright found some people's families, but that they have victimized others. helping 20 people does not make it ok for 20 different people to be scammed.
just curious, has anyone contacted police/fbi? knowingly providing false info to a paying client would appear to be fraud, though it might turn out to be a civil issue not criminal.
Unfortunately for many people there are no other options besides living alone at 18 and having to learn life lessons by oneself. Again unfortunately most 18 year olds are naive and ignorant (I prefer ignorant to "stupid" because that implies a lack of intelligence rather than a lack of experience or knowledge, though I did feel stupid afterward) which is why I have posted the above.
I don't know anyone involved in this case but I felt I had to comment on those posters who say the girl "seduced" the accused or that the sex was consensual or that she couldn't have been raped because it happened more than once and she did not report it. Are you guys freaking CRAZY?!? If she "seduced" the accused then that implies she had more power, control and authority than the male adult who was in a position of authority over her. It also implies that the 17 year old was some kind of predator who took advantage of this man, a GROWN ADULT.
Moving on the the comment that she couldn't have been raped since it happened many times and she did not report it. According to RAINN (Rape, Abuse & Incest National Network) "sexual assault is one of the most under reported crimes, with 60% still being left unreported according to a statistical average of the past 5 years." I don't think anyone who has not experienced a sexual assault can speculate on a victims motives for waiting to report a crime. I also think it inappropriate to say that the number of times she was abused equates to consent. Shame, fear and guilt could easily explain why she waited and how it continued for an extended period of time.
To be clear, I don't know if he's guilty or not, but even if the sex was consensual it's STILL illegal and morally wrong on SO many different levels.
I think you guys should be very proud of yourselves. You were taken advantage of in the worst kind of way and did not take it laying down! It started here on the net, then moved to a website, then the news and now finally the police are taking notice. Good for you and I hope you do feel proud of yourselves.
