I have heard a lot of stories like this concenring auto rental companies. That is why I will never deal with an auto rental company. I will simply take my own car if I travel somewhere.
You mention that the clerk changed the amount to triple of what you signed for. When you signed, did you get a copy of that? Once signing, you should demand a copy of that as proof of the amount you originally signed for.
It is amazing how these auto rental places don't give a darn about their reputation. All of these places are known to screw people. That is why I won't deal wit any of them.
You should always check the history of the vehicle first, and take the vehicle for a test drive. Also, before buying a used car, ask around for someone reputable since most of these used car dealers are a bunch of crooks. Ask around for not only who's reputable, but for who to stay away from. Poeple who have dealt with certain dealerships before will give you an opinion about whatever place they dealt with.
You defenitely need to be very carfeul as to who you bring your car to. most of these auto garages are crooked. They lie and cheat people.
You mention that your out over $1000.oo? It costs that much to have a water pump replaced?
Always read over everything and make sure you fully understand the details before you ever sing on the dotted line. Don't wait til after. Regardless of whther your a man or woman, you can avoid being scammed. As you said, "let the buyer beware, " consumers need to be knowlagble towards these schemes and how these businesses operate.
I hope you did not sing on the dotted line as you mentioned that you started to look through the paperwork. I hope you right then and there, noticed this to be a scam and avoided getting into the trap.
Nonetheless, is there a law in the US(as there is in Canada) that you can cancel a contract within 10 business days after singing for something?
wtf, you comment saying that the author of this thread's lawsuit will be dismissed. I would like to know why you feel that way. This person was wrongfully dismissed. He/she had a right to complain to the manager, then to human resources. You see, freedom of speech allow someone to speak their mind.
harrassedbyamistar, you did the right thing by standing up for yourself. I commend you for standing up to bullies. Bullies always thrive off of fear. They love to see people intimidated. I hope you win your case and set an example to that corrupt business.
Macdogfoods probably depends on people not speaking up over that extra 29 cents. For the customer, it's chump change, but it sure adds up to a lot of money considring how many peole go to Macdogfoods each day or even on the hour. They're always busy.
I wouldn't blame all of Macdogfoods on behalf of one rude employee. You may find a bad egg anywhere you go. You did the right thing by complaining to the manager. Hopefully he would straighten out after a talk from the manager.
Also, anywhere you go, you will find inexperienced employees who don't know what they are doing. Since fast food joints have a high turn over, there will always be new employees.
This world is becoming more demoralized and desensitized to what is right. Evil is called good, and good is called evil anymore. The moral standard has greatly declined.
These advertisers depend on that and hpe that the parents are so demoralized nowadays that they won't give a darn.
Being a con artist will only cause people to never go back there. Businesses who think they can thrive off of crookedness and corruption are fools.
Personally, I will never go back to "CRAPPLEBEE"S: because they don't give you much food for your money(well at least here in canada anyways).
Sadly, most auto service places are very crooked. "NEVER" trust anything they say. All they know is how to scam people. They have absolutely no integrity at all.
What I am wondering is, how in the world can the brakes go in 2 months 2 different times? Even cheap brakes don't wear out that fast.
Just as well as these auto sales places are corrupt, so is the government. Just as long as the government makes money on sales tax and income tax(from their employees) they don't really care. It seems like the government protects bad businesses. That is why it is so difficult to get something done about them.
What you can do though, is "EXPOSE THEM." Warn people to stay away from these type of busiensses. Let the buyer beware. Reputation effects businesses more than these businesses seem to realize. They have some false idea that ripping people off will prosper them when in reality it will be the very thing that may put them out of business.
I personally won't go back to "CRAPPLEBEES" because they don't give you very much food for your money. Last summer I took my wife to the location in Barrie Ontario while we were vacationing out there, we got barely any food.
That's probably the reason why there so fast at getting people their food. They must not take the roper time to cook the food.
Car rental places are a bunch of liars. That is why I will never deal with any of these places again. It is obviously Thrifty's responsiblity to replace the tire at no charge to you since it is "their" car and you paid for the rental. These crooked businesses will do anything to scam people. They want you money for the rental, but they don't want to back themselves up when it comes to road side assistance. They use raod side assistance as a ploy to get people to be willing to rent from them, as people are unaware that this road side assistance is just a scam and if something does happen to their rental car, the rental company will do whatever it takes to avoid paying for anything.
Grim_Blue, people ar enot getting more uptight about this, people are becoming so desensitized that they accept all this filth as normal. The truth is, we need to teach this generation about what is right and wrong, and instill morals and values before they become people are just do whatever feels good to them without caring about what they are doing.
That is not sheltering btw, . You got your fact all backwards. It is important to let them know what is going on in this world and that they need to make right choices. If you teach your children the truth, they will not go against it(as you stated).
Oh, you mention friends who grew up in a strict christian home. I am not a strict christian, I am one who sticks to what is right and strives to avoid what is wicked, immoral, etc.
La Chula, although it is wrong for these adults to beat a child, what about the fact that your son was making fun iof the instructor? He too was wrong. What corrective action have you taken towards your son? Cause you cannot go around making fun of people in life.
I am aware that some french speaking people in Quebec are rude to non french speaking people. Of course, they had no right to treat you that way.
Auto rental places are "ALL" crooked. I amcurrently suing Discount Car and truck Rentals in Canada. All of them have been complained about on sited like this. That is because all they do is look for ways to rip people off.
centralmaine, I agree 100% with what you said. It's obvious that businesses don't care about their reputation anymore.
I personally will never go back to there after the lousy experience I had last summer. Yeah, they used to be a decent restaurant. They used to give you good value. Now, they give you very little food, and it's not decent food anymore. I don't even call them "APPLEBEES, " anymore, I call them "CRAPPLEBEES." That name suits them very well nowadays.
Since they cannot provide evidence, then there is nothing they can do to you. They can't sue you. They are just tyring to intimidate you dso they can suck you for money. Many businesses are like that. Car rental places are no exception.
It is pathetic that some people are racial, I know what that is like as my wife is black. This is absolutely stereotypical to say that you want something for free. Azalia made a good sugestion, to get media attention involved. That would expose them for who they are. They must be the worst pizza hut restaurant in all America.
You should always get a receipt when you pay for something. When paying for the deposit, they should have gotten a receipt of that, as legal evidence to paying the deposit.
