billing; incorrect medical diagnosis; conditions, phone calls.
I have a bill that has now been forwarded to collections. I received a bill from Post Acute, billing me for time spent there. My stay was approved weekly by Aetna, and if I reached the limit that Aetna would cover, I had the option to leave (which I did do, because they charge 207.00 a day, not including rehab, which is why I was there. If my time was up, I certainly would not have stayed to incur a bill; the invoice they sent me shows no dates of service, so I cant pinpoint the time frame. Either way, I was only informed my time would be up around the end of May, I did leave at that point. That was the only time I heard that I was not authorized for staying. If Aetna did not approve the time I'm now being billed for, why was I not so informed? I would not stay if I wasn't approved for coverage. There have been calls from Post Acute directed to my wife, who has nothing to do with my bills, so why harass her? My wife did call back and informed them not to call her regarding the bill.
I also was diagnosed to be incontinent, which wasn't true, and I told them this many times. The problem is when you need help with bathroom issues, you push the call light, and it would be 10 to 20 minutes before help arrived. By then, you can only hold back so much. Being diagnosed with incontinence, they did not place a portable potty chair to use, they only provided one when pushed by my wife to do so.
The billing issue is still outstanding, I dont believe I should be charged for a stay I wasn't told was not approved.
