Nuvell Financial Services review: Customer harassment 25

I purchased a vehicle through a auto dealer and they went through Nuvell Financial to finance me because I had some slow payments in the past. Within 6 months, my child got sick and had to be back and forth to the hospital, which lasted for about 5 months. During this time, my payments were late going to Nuvell, never past the 30 mark. However, with Nuvell you interest is compounded daily and at the rate of a credit card. I contacted one of their representatives and explained to them the situation. I explained that I had to take excessive time off from work and since I was not working, I was not getting paid. They did not want to hear it. They just kept insisting that I either make a payment or turn the vehicle over to them. After the third month of at least 8 calls a day, to my home, my job, my cell phone, my mother's house and even to a friend's house that I had listed as a personal reference, I called and told them that I would be happy to turn the car over to them, just to let me know where to take it. I was told they did not want the car and they would be happy to work with me. I asked if there was any way to have my due date changed since I have finally gone back to work full time and my pay is now back to full pay, and I was told that I would have to pay current for 12 months before it would be considered. So, once again, I am paying my payment before the 30 day mark, with at least 8 phone calls a day, even after I talk with them. The Fair Debt Collection Act needs to be enforced on these people. And, if you aren't familiar with the FDCA, you really do need to pull it up online.

I am TOTALLY going through the same situation with Nuvell right now. The way they speak to me and my husband is way out of line. I get several calls from them a day and when I actually pick up the phone if I don't tell them exactly what they want to hear it is useless. They are relentless. You go one day after the grace period and the harassment begins, and yes it is harassment. There's been occasions they have called here after 9 o' p.m. on a Sunday.

I am not a customer of NUVELL. Yet for the past year and the last 6 days I keep getting phone calls asking for a guy who has my last name- he works for the same company as I do- but works 3rd shift- as I work 1st shift. I thought I got this taken care of last December- no calls. Now they are starting up again. These people have no idea how to obtain information. I've gotten my HR dept involved- yet they still don't get it. THIS IS CRAZY. My next step is the Better Business Bureau.

I think that your comment is wrong, Laugh. You dont need to be financed with these people for them to harass you or others you know. You dont even need to be late on payments. Get your facts straight. I am not late on anything.

For all of you who must live in another world, besides reality. You do not have the right to comment, from my standpoint. Things happen in life sometimes that is beyond your control and it causes you to get into debt. For instance, this month my payment is late because I choose to drive four hours one way to visit my 27 year old niece who just had a baby. The baby was born with Down Syndrome. I believe that trip was necessary as a caring human being. I felt like I needed to be there and could care less about my bill being late, when it comes down to family there is no time frame. So, for those who are never late, kudos to you! But if you are living in the real world, things happen.

God is the only one that can see the future.

Thanks to Nuvell, I will never again purchase a GM vehicle, or another vehicle from a dealership that works with them. After 42 years of loyal service to GM, and family-related purchases of over 50 vehicles, I think my father-in-law would roll over in his grave to hear how we have been treated by this company. After several unsuccessful attempts to move our payment date to a reasonable time, and many, many promises to "see that it gets taken care of immediately"; I can only hope that others will take note and choose to decline Nuvell. If not, then be prepared for 30, or more, phone calls per day to every number that you give them access to. A series of pre-recorded messages and computer software allows their collector agents to "contact" (harass) over 100 people per hour (related to me by a neophyte customer service rep). While I would love to be "on-time" with my payments, as some suggest, I would remind everyone that "life happens". Wage losses from cutbacks put us behind temporarily... and we'll be current soon. But the stain from treatment by this company will forever stay with me... and GM... any anyone who reads this.

I would contact Mr. Eric Feldstein, who is the Chairman and CEO of GMAC Finance. GMAC Finance owns Nuvell and Mr. Feldstein needs to be made aware. His email is eric.feldstein@gmacfs.com.

Nuvell has rude, disrespectful, ignorant idiots for employees. They call my house and after I talk to them, they still call the people that I gave for references. I think that I have an arrangement worked out, and then I get another phone call because some idiot did not post any info to my account.
And life does happen to us all. Bad things happen to us all. I'm sorry that I'm not perfect and can not make every payment on time, but I'm not. My family will come first, even if I have to file bankruptcy to put these clowns in their place!

Nuvell has been calling my phone for my friends account, may I inform you that I sleep during the day because I work at night, and also, I have told you that you have the wrong number, but, do you give a ###, NO, you keep calling MY DAMN PHONE. If you are going to call someone make sure it is the correct number, and you could practice better communications skills, your rude and absoultly impossible people!

I WOULD LIKE TO SUPPORT THOSE WHO COMPLAIN THAT NUVELL SUCKS! THEY DO HAVE CRAZY IDIOTS THAT SEEM TO STALK ME BY PHONE, I HAVE NEVER IN MY LIFE BEEN HARRASSED LIKE THIS. I LOST SOME INCOME AND HAVE BEEN UNABLE TO MAKE MY PAYMENTS. WHEN I TRIED TO MAKE PAYMENT ARRANGEMENTS THEY TOLD ME "NO" AND SAID THEY WERE COMING TO GET THE VEHICLE, SO WHEN I FINALLY TOLD THEM TO COME AND GET IT, THEY CHANGED THEIR MIND. NO MATTER IF YOU THINK YOU'VE GOT IT WORKED OUT WITH THEM, THEY STILL CALL 50 TIMES A DAY TO ANY PHONE NUMBER THAT THEY HAVE FOR YOU. I FINALLY HAD TO CHANGE MY HOME AND CELL NUMBER, BUT THEY CALL MY WORK AT LEAST 10 TIMES A DAY. I WORK IN A HOSPITAL WHERE PATIENT CARE IS TOP PRIORITY AND THEY ARE CONSTANTLY INTERRUPTING MY WORK, SO I FINALLY GOT MY COWORKERS TO TELL THEM THAT I'M NOT HERE. HOWEVER, THEY STILL CALL RELENTLESSLY AND THEY ARE EXTREMELY RUDE TO EVERYONE. I WISH I WOULD HAVE NEVER BOUGHT THIS VEHICLE. I WANTED TO TRY AND CATCH UP PAYMENTS, BUT AFTER ALL OF THIS HARRASSMENT, I PLAN TO FILE BANKRUPTCY AND MAKE THEM EAT IT.

I too am a customer of Nuvell who has fallen behind and no they do not listen when you want to change your due date. I call them to let them know my situation and attempt to pay a payment, but they force me into making deals that I know I can't keep just to get my late payment in.
If I could catch up I would, but when you fall behind it's hard to get back on track, so no I will never do business with this company again (they may be just as glad as I am)and I will tell anyone who is willing to listen.
I spoke with a representaive once and he promised he would try to help, but what he wanted me to do was set up the next 3 payments so they could do bank drafts I agreed and they still called every day and every night.
One gentleman was so rude, he asked me if there was someone I could borrow the payment from, I told him no because I would have to pay them and the person I borrowed from, he argued that there must be someone that could give me the money, I said you must be right, can you give it to me; he became angry and called me rude.

Is there anyway to get out of their contracts? I bought a car 3 years ago, and because of unexpected financial difficulties it have been late, I have paid then around 15,000 and it still says I owe 15,000 more? I make a payment and the payoff amount is higher the next month? What are the alternatives, if any?

Thanks Rp & Joe Schmoe & all other NUVELL bashers :o)

I don't, nor have I EVER:
- - - had a loan w/ NUVELL - - -
~ ~ co-signed for NUVELL loan ~ ~
--- been a CONTACT number for someone who has a loan ---
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Yet, because MY NEIGHBOR is delingquent, NUVELL thinks its OK to contact me! (so I totally agree Nuvell BITES & sucks) though I know it won't even be a slap on the wrist to these jerks, I am pursuing this to the fullest possible extent.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Also I will never buy a GM car & obviously won't EVER be financed with the likes of a shoddy company like NUVELL

I don't understand these people. Why should I have to pay my payments on time. I mean who cares that I signed a legally binding contract and agreed upon a date of when I can pay and on the amount I would pay, that should not matter. This is harrasment, how dare them call me and ask for me to pay back to them the $24, 000.00 they lent me. And don;t even get me started about the 20 phone calls a day I get. I mean know they know I am dodging there calls, but they should not keep calling me, it should just be understood that i am looking at the caller I.d. and avoiding them, that should be good enough for them. Anyway, i guess iwill have to find other clever ways like getting a due date change or extending my contract to prolong the time i have to not pay them again.

I agree with everyone here that has complained of how Nuvell has treated people. We were suckered into a contract. We wee told it would be the same as the payments we were making on our trade-in and the APR would be similar. THAT WAS A LIE! We were told our payment would not be due to the first of the year, and that was a lie. We did not even know that this was our finance company or that our APR was over 19%. So we were late, then got almost caught up, when my husband was injured at the house by a product malfunction that damaged his eyes permanently. They were not willing to work with you at all. We would, along with references get 5-10 calls a day. Even if you spoke to someone that morning they would call again and again and again. One time they called my husband's work and called the lady who answered a "B#%$*" that got him a write up, we called and told them not to call they said they have that noted, but a lady named Sheila called and he can lose his job or be suspended because of her. The constant harassment is unbelieveable, my references told them to stop calling, it took them 3 times to get it through thier heads. Maybe if we all get together and write Tom Pritchard and Eric Feldstein maybe it would help. We are charged more than $280.00 in late fees and that is more than 50% of the payment. You will never catch up. Write to the Attny. Gen. if they get enough complaints, they are forced to act. I am, along with the BBB, and other agencies. I am tired of them trying to tell me that the are going to take my car. They are NO BETTER THAN A LOAN SHARK!

I haave been going through the same thing with this company. Shortly after I purchased my car, I was hurt and could not work for 8 weeks. I have not been able to catch up as hard as I try, I am just having a problem. They call me 10 and 12 times a day they even called one time and left a message saying they were notifying the local authorities that I had left my state with the car and never notified them and they wanted me arrested. They went on to say I had moved and did not give them the forwarding address when I called to ask why they had said that the woman said and I quote "did you call to complain or make a payment?" I was so angry by this time I hung up on her. I do not know how this company gets away with the things they say and do. I have been paying on my car for a little over 2 years now and owe more now than originally.

Avoid Nuvell if you can. Their online payment system is primitive, as is their phone menu. Online payment system: in order to change your bank routing number, you have to FAX your info in and wait for X amount of days for them to git-r-done. Once its time for you to update your routing info, you have to do it at the time you make a payment (somewhere there's a check box to make the 'new' payment a recurring payment.). if you overlook the checking of the box, you cannot go back and simply set up a recurring payment. you must wait until the next payment comes around. apparently, if you come too close to your due date, you cannot make a payment, as the system will not let you in (unless I just now got inconveniently lucky). if you need to make a payment over the phone, they will charge you. if you call after customer service hours, there is no automated telephone payment option. if you select the customer service option, you get no notification they are closed.. just a fast busy signal (this happened a few minutes before 'closing time.' they are horrible. stay away if you can!

Getting laid off from work has also caused me to become behind on a payment that I am sending in partial payments for. They did not agree to the partial payments, in fact, say that they discourage them.I will monitor more closely my monthly balance due to the comments about increased balances. Fortunately, they only have my cell number to call numerous time per day.I suggest calling them to 'update' work or loved ones phone numbers to false ones.Once I picked-up and hung-up the phone call because I was tired of the calls for that day on my caller id.Do you know that the next time I contacted them, they mentioned it? All of what everyone has said already, I won't add to my comments.I will simply say that it is all true: I know from experience.I will say that I talked to one sensible rep who seemed to comprehend the customers viewpoint and thought their collections procedures were excessive. As for the rest, they can't hear.Perhaps lack of hearing is why they verify payment amount and date atleast three times in one phone call.Let's pray that the records center is hit with a flood, shorts network, and destroys our paperwork, of course when no ppl are there.

I ALSO HAVE A TRUCK LOAN WITH NUVEL. WHAT A MISTAKE, TAKE THE ADVICE FROM ALL OF THOSE LETTERS "STAY AWAY FROM NUVELL". I FELL BEHIND BECAUSE ORIGINALY I WAS LETGO FROM A COMPANY I WORKED FOR THIRTEEN YEARS, THEN MY BROTHER PASSED AWAY FORM A MRSA INFECTION HE FOUGHT FOR THREE YEARS AND MY FATHER-IN-LAW PASSES TWO WEEKS LATER AND TO TOP IT OFF MY MOTHER HAD A STROKE IN JANUARY. I HAVE LOST MY MEDICAL INSURANCE AND NEED MEDICATIONS THAT COST OVER A THOUSAND DOLLARS A MONTH. WHEN I TRY TO MAKE ARRANGEMENTS THEY WERE RUDE AND CALL CONTINUOUSLY USIG ALL MANER OF PHONE NUMBERS. I WILL BE CURRENT SOON AND LIKE OTHERS HAVE SAID "AFTER 50 YEARS OF LOYALTY TO GM I WILL NEVER BUY ANOTHER VEHICLE FROM THEM".
THE GOVERNMENT NEEDS TO COME IN AND CLEAN HOUSE.

I feel Nuvell just should clean house or rehire a whole new crew for their Customer Service Dept. They are rude, you can NEVER speak to a supervisor. I receive several calls a day, they DO NOT LISTEN to their customers at all. Nuvell's Customer Service Dept. seem like they just read certain questions/sentences and that's it. I have had several surgeries and now out of work after years of service. My opinion: Nuvell SUCKS! I will never and I mean NEVER do business with them again. I know my next vehicle will not be a GM product, I'm going back to Toyota. Less harrassement.

As I read this Iam happy to see Iam not the only person they call 10times a day. They have already called my cell phone twice this morning, once at 9:06am and then at 9:26am. And Iam sure when I get home the caller ID will show they contacted the house rite before or after contacting my cell. Mind you, Iam no more than 12days late. Yes Iam late, but that does not give them the rite to harrass me. I choice not to speak with them and just let them call because they do not listen, the only thing they wanna know is when am I paying and to verify my address. On top of that the never write what I said down so 20 mins later someone else calls.! I too will never, ever work with this company again, given the fact that Iam able to move on from them. I will also pass on to my friends, co-workers, and anyone else not to use this company! Thank you all, well most, for your comments, it helps to let me know Iam not alone.!

I am going through the same thing with Nuvell, and everytime I tell them to come pick up the car or I can drop it off they don't want me to do it. If I choosing to give them all the car back, then they should be happy to take it. But they know that they going to be loosing money.
