Dr. Russell with Northeast Digestive said this in-office procedure was “simple,” but I experienced severe pain immediately. I informed the front desk that I felt faint and remained in the lobby for several minutes, yet the staff didn't try to help me. Still in pain, I sent a message the following morning. I received no response for 3 days.
Shortly afterward, I awoke to a massive hemorrhage and was rushed to the ER. A CT scan was performed, and a GI surgeon was placed on standby in case the bleeding continued. Although it eventually slowed, I was left with a dangerously low ferritin level and required numerous doctor visits, lab tests, and infusions over the next several weeks. The resulting fatigue prevented me from maintaining my normal work schedule.
I informed Dr. Russell of my ER visit, and he said he may have gone “a layer too deep,” which is consistent with the ER physician's opinion. He also stated his staff responded inappropriately to my concerns.
I submitted my medical bills and records from this incident to Dr. Russell and Northeast Digestive, but my claim was denied. I then sent Dr. Russell a personal letter with supporting documentation requesting that he do the right thing and take responsibility for his error. He failed to respond.
Dr. Russell has left me with substantial medical expenses, physical consequences, and lost income. My experience with Dr. Russell and Northeast Digestive has been expensive and deeply disappointing!
