In mid August , my two AC units stopped working at my wine bar. Nichols Mechanical was called in to fix the issue. However, instead of addressing my request for just one unit, they tried to sell me two units. Eventually, I agreed to have one unit installed, which seemed to work fine until the weather changed in April. When I turned on the unit, it was clear that something was wrong. Despite my concerns, the Nichols representative insisted that the unit was functioning properly.
To get a second opinion, I had another company come out to assess the situation. They informed me that the unit had been installed very poorly, causing it to ice over and malfunction. According to them, it was the worst installation job they had ever seen. They recommended replacing the unit entirely. Unfortunately, every time Nichols came out to address the issue, they only made matters worse.
The unit I purchased from Nichols is under warranty, so I have repeatedly called and requested a new unit be installed correctly. However, the company has been unresponsive, rarely answering my calls or returning them. And when I do manage to speak with them, they yell at me. The owner himself even yelled at me, refusing to provide a new unit and insisting that I deal with the faulty one.
As a new small business owner, this matter is of utmost importance to me. It is crucial that it gets resolved as soon as possible, as it directly impacts my ability to run my wine bar smoothly. I find the owner's behavior to be extremely rude and unprofessional. I had hoped that, being a fellow small business owner, he would be more understanding and accommodating.
I am urgently requesting that Nichols Mechanical install a new unit promptly and correctly, so that I can continue operating my business without any further interruptions.

They ordered the rong unit
They ordered the rong unit. I called to ask if I had to wait another 6 weeks. I was very upset when I called to ask if there was anything they could do. The girl on the phone had a baby crying in the background, she became extremely rude that I was upset, started raising her voice at me and then hung up on me.
Never hire these crooks
Never hire these crooks. Money was paid out on a major job during Covid, and instead of paying the contractors, these fine folks decided to keep all the money for themselves. Classy move, guys. And the "office administrator/owner" has decided to go to social media to bash anyone trying to get what's owed. Even called the police but got nowhere. If you've been taken advantage of by Nichols Mechanical, call the ROC and report them.

I've had the opportunity to hire Nichols Mechanical on multiple occasions for various properties. David N is skilled at his job and gets the work done, but he tends to be messy, leaving behind large amounts of trash from the replaced units. It's not something I've seen from other professional HVAC vendors. Additionally, his wiring work is quite untidy, and I've even shared pictures on different websites to showcase this. However, what ultimately pushed me over the edge after multiple jobs spanning a couple of years was his wife, who acts as the administrator. She lacks charm and pleasantness in her interactions.

They sent out Steven on 6/19 on his day off. He spent 1.5 hours on my AC, determined to get the unit back up and running. As at 7:00 PM, it was still 100 degrees outside. He spent a half hour in my attic (at God knows what temperature up there) and he stayed with it until he found the problem. He did the fix and we had our AC back. I can't say enough about how professional he was, and he was very pleasant to have work at my home. These guys are my go-to AC and heating company in the future. Thank you, Steven!
A tech from Nichols came to my rental unit, sent by my home warranty company
A tech from Nichols came to my rental unit, sent by my home warranty company. My tenants were not happy when Nichols didn't show up on time and wanted to delay servicing their swamp cooler until the next day. Since my tenants wouldn't be available the next day, Nichols eventually sent a tech. After looking at the unit, the tech said the problem wasn't with the unit, but with the water supply to the cooler. However, since it's the same water supply for the entire condo complex, his analysis was wrong. He left the swamp cooling unit unplugged, left my condo without finishing the job, and left my tenants without any cooling. I called their dispatch and they insisted it was a water source issue and refused to send the tech back to complete the job. The next day, I hired my own tech who went to the condo and fixed the problem in just a few minutes (by plugging the swamp cooling unit back in). According to him, it was a simple matter of adjusting the cooler controls inside the condo. My tenants were happy, but once again, I had to pay my own tech in addition to what I already paid as my home warranty deductible. Very disappointing.
