First of all, I have been a very happy customer of Neutrogena for decades. I am 75 years old. Recently, when traveling to Aruba, I purchased a container of:
Neutrogena Collagen Bank Moisturizer
I read on the label:
"Caution: This product contains Bakuchiol. If you are pregnant or considering pregnancy, consult your physician.”
Needles to say, at my age, that is not an issue so I thought nothing of it.
So I merrily went on with my life and applied this cream. Then in the contained area of my neck, face and décolletage I broke out in a very red and excruciatingly itchy rash. I thought it was possibly from pool chemicals, or exposure to sun or something. It never occurred to me that it would be your moisturizer. I tried my usual cortisone cream and it immediately reacted to something, with a vengeance! Way more red and itch! Then I tried to clean everything off and start from scratch with water, then using your Oil Free Eye-makeup Remover, figuring it was safe for eyes so how much safer can you get? That immediately worsened the rash beyond anything I have ever experienced! So the I washed it all off with water again and I applied a Benadryl cream for almost two weeks and it seemed to calm it down a bit. I stopped using your product or anything else as I did not want to interfere with the Benadryl. My skin was still very, very red and itchy and excruciatingly uncomfortable. Finally it seemed to be almost back to normal so I applied your Moisturizer again, immediately got the rash back. So - source of problem solved! Looked up the ingredient Bakuchiol which was on the label. (Why was only one listed? I thought you always list all of the ingredients.) Discovered that it was a plant based ingredient and that it is trouble for sensitive skin. Won’t use that again!
My point is that if you continue to use this ingredient in your products, PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE reword your label to save us all a lot of grief. I am sure I am not the only one with this experience.
