My husband and I have just recently set a lawsuit in motion against this company for unfair credit reporting and defamation of charachter. They turned a bill into the credit bureau on us for almost $2, 400 knowing that we didn't owe it nor was we ever sent notice of owing it. They have refused to remove it from our credit report to this day even though they know our lawyer has contacted them and it is going to court. To add insult to injury, I went in and checked the status of my dispute on my credit report, only to find out that they turned me in again without my knowledge for a $94 hospital bill from ohio and I live in Florida. I hope these crooked scam artists go bankrupt. They have thousands of complaints and hundreds of lawsuits filed on them but still they continue the same crooked practices. I am so fed up and sick and tired of these dirtbags and their harrassment! I dont see how they can possibly get away with this!

I am also a victim of NCS's haphazard collection procedures. The only way to change their bullying tactics is to file complaints with the FTC, BBB and our respective state's AG. We, as consumers can only compel systematic change by filing these complaints. Whether you choose to negotiate with NCS or not, file your complaints. Any other consumer protection/advocacy institutions to file complaints with? Let me know, I'm in.

I recently reviewed my credit report and this company shows a debt from 2002.
I have never had an account with BMG.
The address shown for the debt is also an address I have not lived at since about the time this alleged debt was incurred.
I am disputing this debt on my Experian credit file.

National Credit listed $280.00 in charges from BMG music. I have never bought that amount of discs from BMG> In checking my BMG account I find it to be in good standing and I owe nothing. How do we stop these people?

On 1/27/11 BBB pulled accreditation for NCS. Montana's AG has filed suit against NCS. Note MT's suit is based on NCS's practice of reporting to credit agencies prior to notification to debtor. Don't negotiate with these scoundrels, file complaints with your AG.

I have a collection account opened in 12/2008 for over $200 dollars from BMG music. I disputed the item on my credit report and they did not remove it. I am willing to take legal action to have it removed.

Got this charge taken OFF my credit report, Sent cert. letter to National Credit Solutions, and filed a complaint online with the FTC, 12 days later I got a letter in the mail from NCS .. stating this charge will be taken off my credit report and they are closing the account, ( that I never had ) so there is hope.

Just had the same thing happen to me, $160 owed to BMG for an account never opened. They used an address that my daughter lived at in 2006, with my social for an account they say was opened in 2003. The "gentleman" at NCS told me it would be easier for me to pay the $160 than to dispute the charge. HAHA...he doesn't know me! Going to the extremes with this one. Contacting Attorney General, BBB, FTC, my attorney and every forum that I can. Let's put BMG out of business! I guess cd/dvd sales are down..

I wouldn't trust the BBB anymore either. They don't have a very good track record. The other thing that seems to be the same in most of the complaints is the amounts owed. $27, $96 $140, $160. It is so true that they will give you no information about what you actually purchased. I paid them today before I found this site and others with complaints just like mine. I am so mad at myself for paying them but can't have my credit score mess up. Hoping for a Class Action Lawsuit against BMG Music or National Recovery. I kind of wonder about Experian also. They are defenitely a common denomonator.

Update. They are rated B with the BBB and have 432 complaints in the past 3 years alone. ALL are the same story. Experian usually does a quick "investigation" and says the debt is valid. Funny how most of the hundreds of posting I've read have several things in common. 1. Debt closed 5-10 years ago then ncs started reporting to experian between [protected] with 12/08 being a common date. 2. Experian finds no wrong (most cases) 3. Its always BMG with little to no information about the debt. They always get defensive when you question the debt, usaully answering with "we don't have to tell you that". THIS IS NOTHING BUT EXTORTION AND DEFAMATION OF CHARACTER!

Filing a complaint with the BBB or attorney general's does not do much and NCS will prob. respond to that compaint with documents proving that that debt ( being compained about) is valid.

HOW TO RESOLVE THE DEBT:

if you really don't think it is yours-- file a dispute and PROVIDE PROOF. ( ex:..military documents if you were overseas at the time the transaction took place, police reports/fraud affidavit if you are claiming identity theft)

if you really do not have the money to pay it all at once-- work out a plan, talk to them...they are eager to help you and to close out the account.

if you do have the money to pay it-- pay it! ( the quicker the resolution the less expensive it is for YOU)

also...it is very smart to know your rights and to know the formal procedures...

if you request validation and it is valid this means that the debt is actually under your name and the agency (NCS) has the right to collect this debt. sometimes it is best to just pay it so that it doesn't get more and more expensive HOWEVER if you have proof that this is not your debt then by all means file a dispute.

the people at NCS are pretty nice but if you yell at them sometimes they are short with you. if you have any compaints i would advise going to ACA international. ( from what i hear they have more resources to investigate each compaint and get it resolved)

any questions?

hope I can help

for more information visit http://debtcollectionncs.blogspot.com/2009/06/so-youve-found-debt-on-your-credit.html

it is very helpful information.

I am not advertising or promoting NCS in any way I just wanted to share with you that NCS is not a scam. Any agency with credit reporting capabilities is a legitimate agency and NCS is also rates A+ by the BBB.

I too just learned that my great credit scored has dropped as a result of frivilous, erroneous debt collections placed on my credit report by NCS. All of a sudden, my credit limits have been decreased signficantly as a result of NCS' reportings. Folks who find themselves in this situation need to understand your rights under the Fair Credit Reporting and Debt Collections Practices (see www.ftc.gov). I know my right and will not allow the unfair practices of NCS to continue to go unaddressed.

WHATEVER YOU DO - DO NOT AGREE TO PAY DEBT THAT IS NOT YOURS. YOU HAVE THE RIGHT TO BE NOTIFIED OF THE DEBT AND OBTAIN WRITTEN VALIDATION OF THE DEBT.

I'M PREPARING A COMPLAINT TO FILE A LAWSUIT AGAINST NCS. BECAUSE OF NCS, I HAVE LOST $24, 000 IN CREDIT LINES, MY DEBT RATION HAS ALMOST REACH 95% BECUASE OF DECREASED CREDIT LINES.

For example my $27 line of credit which had a balance of $7k, resulting in debt ratio of 26%, is now at 70% because my credit line was decreased to $10k!

Stop this injustics. Email me at nicferndale@yahoo.com

File a complaint with BBB and the next step would be the attorney general for the state you live in. I live in Texas. I have also filed a dispute with Experian... I just did this a couple of days ago.

I am having the same problem with NCS. It is the same thing, not showing up on Equifax, and Tranunion only Experian. Is their a way to file a complaint against, either NCS, or Experian? NCS is saying I owe Columbia House/BMG 173.00. Wow that's alot of music, and from 2000.

I posted a complaint with BBB today and have contacted the NCS because they showed up on my credit report. I do not recall ever opening an account with BMG/Columbia House. However, I have a balance of $174 on my credit now. It is only showing up on Experian, not Equifax or Transunion. I have never had an account in collections in my life and I am 32 years old.
