I was scammed August 31th 2022 between the hour 3pm&4pm. I was calling a number for my own personal account. I asked to speak with a customer service for my account. I was told before he transfer me. He told me that I'm a fifth caller out of a hundred people to win a 100.00 dollars gift card and all I have to do is pay shipping and handling. I was assured no gimmicks no strings attached in addition a 50.00 dollar Walmart gift card. He then started asking for my address to send the gift cards. And my personal information bank card social security number. And the shipping and handling came out of my bank account. He was getting very eager for me to repeat the same information to another person. Who was talking very low on the phone. I started getting more suspicious. After she got some of my personal information. I tried to disconnect. But I was having issues with my phone.. and he just kept calling my name. After he knew I was scammed he told me. He already took my money out of my bank account. I want them to mail what is to due to me my $3.95.and stay out of my personal information.

Desired outcome: Refund my money by mail. And leave my personal information along.

Same happened to me. My loan is with a number 1-866... I accidently called 1-800... they acted just like it was the loan company I was calling to make a payment to. I listed to "an ad" that "[I] won't be charged for". Soon as I hung up, I knew it was a scam because they never asked for the loan account number (I have 2 loans with the real company) and never told me the amount. I was being charged. Within 2 minuted I checked my bank account and the $3.95 was already pending. Called the number he gave me and it was an information line for looking up businesses. Immediately called my bank and cancelled that card. Have to wait for the charge to clear before I can dispute it!

I had an identical situation happen to me yesterday with the very same $3.95 credit card charge for MVQ mysteriously showing up on my account. I called a phone number for SiriusXM that I have a subscription with and wanted to make changes. The phone number is also listed for them on my recent credit card statement so I assumed it was legitimate. Instead of getting SiriusXM, I got this same scum doing the same thing. Wanting my all my credit card info, email, address, phone #, whether or not I use a middle initial. And of course, I had to repeat everything again to someone else so they could "verify" it. I'm sure they were using that time to run the charge through my credit card. The guy gave me a confirmation # and a phone # I was to call to process my request. Guess what! That number was for another scam saying it was offering Medicare. I can't believe I was so gullible. As soon as I called the second number, it dawned on me what was happening and quickly called the fraud dept for my credit card company to cancel my card. The MVQ charge was pending and nothing else was put through thankfully. I filled out a report with the FTC and with idenitytheft.gov. Today I placed a Fraud Alert on my credit with Experian.

This is a SCAM. Beware, they will try to tell you that they need your credit card number and expiration date and security code in order to verify your identity.

They are lying.

I tried to call my bank and somehow this call was intercepted and routed to them so then they pretend to be your bank and ask you all these very personal security questions incisive your credit card number and then try to have you verify a transaction of like $3.95 telling you its a processing fee.

DO NOT AUTHORIZE A TRANSACTION.

DO NOT GIVE THEM YOUR CREDIT CARD OR ADDRESS, EMAIL, DOB, ANYTHING!

Hang up immediately!

This is a scam and they are trying to collect your information to commit credit card fraud and identity theft.

They got me too. Same thing. Pretended to be my insurance company when I called because 4 months had passed and I hadn't received my OTC card. They then said that because of this I was owed $100 and all I had to do was pay the $2.95 to activate it. While they had me waiting on the phone they played several ads for me and told me I wouldn't be charged for any of them. Well, yes I was, and I reported the the Federal Trade Commission. Put a stop on my debit. Now I have to go through all the bother getting a new one. I discovered that I had dialed one number different from my insurance company. The thing is they knew I was calling an insurance company and they led me on.

I went through the same thing with this company. I called the number for Citi Bank and got them. I kept telling them I did not want any subscription I didn't want any rebate card I didn't want anything charged I just wanted my bank issue resolved. Like everyone else they told me they could not transfer me until I verified my card information and address. My card was then charged and a subscription setup. Luckily I caught it early and was able to cancel the card and get issued a new card. This type of company should be outlawed it's illegal when I tell you I don't want anything and you charge my card anyway that is deliberate fraud. They need to be investigated.
