McAtee Plumbing, Heating & Air Do not use McAtee Plumbing-furnace

I got Mathew (McAtee) through Home-serve on February 12, 2024. Mathew came to my home to fix my furnace. He was at my home for about 45 mins. He went out a couple of times to his work truck on the phone. He came back in and showed me a part that went to my furnace and showed me a new part side by side. He said he was going to try this and hoped that it would fix the furnace. Five to ten minutes later Mathew came up from the basement and said that the part did not work and I needed a new furnace that would cost $4750 because I had a "crack" in my heat exchanger. He showed me the "crack" in the heat exchanger and a new furnace exactly like mine that he had recently put in. I said ok and they sent me the contract. My son said he knew someone because I was unsure of this company because something didn't feel right. Mr. Robinson came to my home a few days later. Mr. Robinson from The Basement Pros LLC came out and walked me through what he was doing and what he was looking at. First, Mr. Robinson asked why didn't Mathew red tag the furnace if it had a cracked heat exchanger. Second Mr. Robinson showed me that Mathew did not change the part that he said he was going to change because it was burnt at the top and I had not had a flame since the furnace went out the week before. And third, there were all type of wires and things disconnected that should have been connected that more an likely Mathew had taken apart. Mr. Robinson came in and FIXED my furnace for $625.58 (2 parts and labor) and it would have be cheaper if Mathew had put the new part in because that was one of the parts that I needed. (again HE DID NOT!) I would NOT recommend this company because they are not honest. But who I would recommend is Mr. Robinson at The Basement Pros LLC. He did an excellent job and was very honest and he explained what he was doing. Plus my furnace WORKS!

Recommendation: Beware of McAtee Plumbing, Heating and Air

McAtee Plumbing, Heating & Air Blame the customer for your incompetence. Smart strategy.

The first person they sent to fix my heating system, removed the WiFi connected thermostat and he installed a thermostat that was not WiFi enabled. I told him I needed one that was WiFi connected. He was visibly, extremely annoyed. After a lot of drama, He went to get one that was, and installed it. A couple of hours after he left, the heater started blowing cold air and I couldn’t turn the unit off. I called the company and they couldn’t send anyone the following day but had availability for the day after. My unit ran constantly for two days, blowing cold air and I had to buy extra heaters to stay warm. Finally, two days later, a competent person came and finally, fixed the problem, which was the way the original guy installed the thermostat. I complained to the the company about the exorbitant cost of their incompetent original technician on my finances and they wanted me to put in another service call with HomeServe so they can come see what the problem was. At this point, the problem was fixed by the second technician so there was no problem to fix. They just wanted to charge for another service call. Because of their incompetent technician, my light bill will be extremely high and the company has done nothing to reassure me that they will be willing to help with THIS problem but want me to place another service call so they can make more money for a problem that was corrected by the second technician. Make this make sense! I will be telling HomeServe not to send this company to my house for any future service calls because they are not reliable and do not stand behind their work. After this review, the business blamed me for using additional heating sources for the spike in power usage but the fact that the unit was constantly running, blowing cold air and I couldn’t turn it off, was not a factor. I suppose they expected me to freeze until they could get to me to fix their screw up. Besides, the heating and cooling has a rating of 2.9. Very reassuring.

Recommendation: Buyer beware.

McAtee Plumbing, Heating & Air Dishonest

I was working with Brett in VA. His HVAC technician came out because our air conditioner unit was not cooling. We have a warranty through our provider Dominion and they sent us someone from Mcatee. This is where my nightmare begins. The technician said we had to much Freon and pulled some out and charged us $150.

It was still not cooling so Dominion has a different company who came out and they said we did not have enough Freon so we were charged $267. Now I was really upset and and called and spoke to Brett at Mcatee. He said he would first reimburse me my $150 and then the $267 because I wouldn’t have had to pay that if the Freon wasn’t pulled out in the first place. I got the $150 but am still waiting for the $267. I have left 4 messages but he has not returned my calls so at this point I know he is ignoring my calls.

I would stear clear of this company as they have techs who don’t know what they are doing. If you are looking to save money trust me you will pay more because they don’t have a clue what they are doing. They don’t stand behind their work/mistakes and you are left with the bills. There are so many more reputable companies out there so I suggest you try another one.

Recommendation: There are way too many HVAC companies to use. I would look for others.

McAtee has always done great work for my family and myself. Knowledgeable techs and friendly staff. We used our warranty company and there were a few hiccups from that, but nothing that McAtee could control. Highly recommend for both plumbing and HVAC needs

I had some basement drains that were flooding my basement every time it rained. Mcatee made it quick and pain free to schedule an appointment to take care of my issue. I will use them for any future problems!

I used McAtee Plumbing through my home warranty program. Great communication from their scheduling team. They were able to work with my schedule and answered all my questions about how it worked with my warranty program as this was the first time I had used it. The technicians were friendly and knowledgeable and took the time to explain the problem and what they were doing to fix it. I had a broken drain pipe under my kitchen sink. They were able to schedule me quickly and the issue was resolved the day of the appointment. I will definitely request them again in the future

McAtee had amazing response time given the covid pandemic. A technician came out next day to repair my water heater, they were clean, quick and respectful. I especially appreciate their attention to having proper PPE. Grateful for a responsive and caring team! Thank you McAtee!

I had a plumbing issue where my sink was not draining in the kitchen. Mcatee was able to get me quick and excellent service. Dispatchers were very kind and helpful in finding a time that would work well with me since I have a fulltime job. The plumber they sent was kind and was able to remove the clog quickly and cleaned up after himself. Would use this company again for any plumbing need.

I had a plumbing issue where my sink was not draining in the kitchen. Mcatee was able to get me quick and excellent service. Dispatchers were very kind and helpful in finding a time that would work well with me since I have a fulltime job. The plumber they sent was kind and was able to remove the clog quickly and cleaned up after himself. Would use this company again for any plumbing need.

I called McAtee in an emergency on a Saturday and their team guided me in assessing the issue, mitigating it, and then a tech was out almost immediately. Obviously a well run company that cares about its customers from the top down. My tech was so patient with me, too, and explained my issues and options despite the fact that he'd been at a family gathering when called. Can't ask for better care than that. Their google reviews are 5 stars, so I'm not alone in my experiences.

McAtee Plumbing, Heating & Air Had 2 service techs out

Had 2 service techs out. Neither one of them was knowledgeable. I had to go over a week with no toilet or shower. Both times they came out they were 2 hours late. They misdiagnosed the problem and said there was nothing they could do. I found another plumber that came out the same day. Determined the problem in the outside cleanout and fixed the issue. This company almost had me tearing my slab up for no reason. Horrible experience with McAtee Plumbing.

Stood me up for an appointment 4/19 morning... My tenant wasted half a day waiting for them. They purported that they did not show up because my phone went to voicemail this morning... What? I think this is not true, because there was no voicemail. I don't understand the purpose of this purported call anyway, because the appointment was clearly confirmed the previous Friday. This company was forced on my by ***y - seems like that home warranty only deals with good for nothing one-star places...

If I could give them no stars I would but I cannot submit a complaint without a rating. The technician Dave came to the home and said he was with McAtee to service a plumbing issue. We asked if he had booties because we just had new carpet installed today and he said he did not. We ask him to remove his shoes because the issue was upstairs and he said he no and said we would have to get a new technician. We will not be utilizing their service ever again and will also let our home warranty know the company they are sending to their customers home.

McAtee Plumbing, Heating & Air McAtee Plumbing has been a huge disappointment for me and my family

McAtee Plumbing has been a huge disappointment for me and my family. On two occasion I have had them to my house for services and they have come and left my home while I was there without notifying me of any resolution to my problem. They were supposed to fix faucets at my home and while working the mechanic broke a sink faucet and left my home with out any resolution. I have made several attempts to reach out to supervisors and they have not responded to any of my calls or messages. I have been left with 2 broken sinks and no one has attempted to make any attempts to fix the problem.

McAtee Plumbing, Heating & Air The worst plumbing contractor ever

The worst plumbing contractor ever. The water to my home was off for 3 weeks, that's 21 days from the time the *** opened the claim until I finally had water restored. Three days just to come out and tell me they would have to get someone out with a leak detector to see where the leak was at under my garage floor. Then NINE days later before someone came out and detected the leak which was several feet off from where the actual leak was at. Then another SEVEN days to come out and fix it. Now I am left with about a 4 inch deep, 8 foot long hole in my garage floor. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!

McAtee Plumbing, Heating & Air Absolutely Horrible Company!

Absolutely Horrible Company! Please do not use their services! Their technician came out to view the sewer line. He made an evaluation and then he and I discussed it and what needs to be done in the future to resolve the issue. Only issue is that he did not relay any of this information to the warranty company. When I tried to contact him and the company for an explanation they completely dismissed me and ignored me. Because of the way they handled the situation I have to start all over and wait until more damage is done on my property before the warranty company will address the issue. McAtee LLC handled the issue extremely unprofessionally by not even responding to my request to speak with the technician or his supervisor. I highly recommend that no one use them for services!

So two weeks ago today on July 21 I called Home Serve my sewer coverage through *** I have sewage coming from my floor drain first app was july 29 but I could not take had a important doctor app now mind you I have a sewer problem in basement next app was Monday august 3 then they canceled for august 4... So the man come in and says its not my sewer but I said sewage came up the floor drain and plus you can smell sewage. so it was decided by Home Serve and this man that it was a floor drain and its not covered which I disagreed.. So I had a company come out for $150.00 to tell me it was my sewer drain all the way out to the street 50 feet . I was right and the thing is I had to wait for this company for two weeks and got the run around... I have had this house for 20 years I know when it is a drain clogged and I know when its a sewer line.. VERY UNHAPPY WITH THIS COMPANY..

McAtee Plumbing, Heating & Air We have called several times to have them reimburse us for the $250 dollars we were charged to have our water heater installed

We have called several times to have them reimburse us for the $250 dollars we were charged to have our water heater installed. They claimed lines to our new water would need to be modified. The water heater was replaced but no modifications were made. Modifications are not covered under our home warranty, however there were no modifications made at all. We took pictures of what they did and the old pipes are still there untouched with cobwebs on them. We have left messages for Bret I and even sent pictures to the company and no response has been received.

In April this year 2020 McAtee Plumbing was hired through Home Serve to replace a water line at my home. I was told by McAtee they would replace the water line from the street to the house, cover new line and replace the square of sidewalk they took up. Well they did the first two things but are not doing the third. I have called several times. They say they are getting in contact with a cement contractor they use in this area and will call back. To date I have not received a call back as to when it will be replaced. Again this has been going on since April

McAtee Plumbing, Heating & Air *** referred home plumbing repair to McAtee

referred home plumbing repair to McAtee. Area of concern was slow draining bathtub. Technician Andrew arrived Tuesday, 02-June-2020 and left the drain clogged with standing dirty water. The drain worked prior to his arrival, and he left a safety hazard with standing water. No return voice mail messages to J T H or Customer service. Unknown status of repair. Bathroom is used by my elderly disabled parent who suffers from COPD, a terminal disease. Standing dirty water in summer temperatures creates a prime condition for mold and mildew blooming, which aggravates a lung disease. Repair need to be completed immediately.

McAttee refuses to provide pertinent information to *** as I'm required to use them for services despite not wanting to (Insurance Company engages them). Initial appointment 7/2, McAttee took pictures and spent 30 minutes analyzing my broken kitchen faucet. They verbally agreed that it needed replaced and were supposed to send information to Insurance Company. Insurance Company tells me that they have not received it, McAttee says that they sent it. Ongoing for 2 weeks now with no resolution. It's reached the point where the Insurance Company is not willing to payout since they have not received necessary documentation.

McAtee Plumbing, Heating & Air On 25 Jun 20 a plumber busted the base of my toilet with a plumbers snake he was using to unclog the sewer line in the front yard

On 25 Jun 20 a plumber busted the base of my toilet with a plumbers snake he was using to unclog the sewer line in the front yard. Once I saw the damage I contacted the office to see how I could submit an appeal. I was advised my information was forwarded to the manager and would be contacted. Called back later on the evening to report there is water coming out onto my floor. I was told I could not be helped until the manager calls me and they were gone for the day. I called back on 26 Jun 20 and had to leave a message on a recording. I have since had to replace my toilet with another plumbing company. Still have not received any phone calls from the manager as of today.

McAtee Plumbing, Heating & Air Purchased a house and the day I moved in (06/08), the a/c unit was freezing up

Purchased a house and the day I moved in (06/08), the a/c unit was freezing up. I filed a claim with the warranty company that same day (06/08) and received an appointment for Mcatee heating and cooling to come out to the house on June 11th in between 8:00am and 4:00pm. They cancelled that appointment and rescheduled my appointment to June 15th in between 12:00pm and 4:00pm. On June 30th I filed another claim with my warranty company as my a/c unit was not working properly and it was freezing up again (the same problem I called about on 06/08). I received an appointment for Mcatee to come out again but the appointment date was for July 7th between 10:00am and 2:00pm. On Thursday, July 9th I filed another warranty claim as the a/c unit is still not keeping the house cool. When I was given another appointment for the repair person to come out, it is now July 16th. When I called to complain they moved it up to July 15th. With these 3 separate claims I have filed, each appointment has been booked out 7 days in advanced. Each time they have come out they are not even coming into the house to take a look at the unit inside the house. They only stay outside and refill the Freon. With the first appointment, I was given an appointment and then rescheduled unexpectedly. I have tried to call the supervisor for the area and have left 3 separate messages and he has never given me a call back.

McAtee Plumbing, Heating & Air I was assigned to McAtee Plumbing Heating & Cooling by my home warranty company on to have my AC repaired on June 3rd

I was assigned to McAtee Plumbing Heating & Cooling by my home warranty company on to have my AC repaired on June 3rd. It was a week before someone could come look at my unit. The unit was first serviced on June 10th at which time the technician stated there was a leak and he injected a stop leak solution into the AC line and added refrigerant to the system. On the morning of Thursday, June 11th I suspected the AC wasn't working as my thermostat was reading 75 despite being set at 72. After going through my home warrant company to receive authorization for a repeat visit, I called to set up a new appointment on June 19th to which I was instructed the earliest anyone could come out was June 25th (6 days later). On the 25th the technician arrived and went into the attic space and stated the blower fan was not functioning. He was able to drive to a local location and install a new blower motor same day. Less than 48 hours after this repair the AC was not working and on the morning of June 27th I was on the phone with my home warranty company again to receive authorization for a re-visit. Thankfully, when I called McAtee this time they re-arranged their schedule and got me in on Monday, June 29th. When the technician was out this day he stated that we needed a new evaporator coil and he suspected this may have been the problem during his previous visit on 6/25 as he had detected (via black light) that the leak stop he injected had leaked all over the coil. To this issue he stated a part would need to be ordered and he would call to schedule service when the part arrived. He topped our refrigerant and stated it would hold us over until the part came in. That worked less than 48 hours and I was having to turn my AC off for a couple hours at a time to allow the exterior pipe to thaw as it was freezing and icing over, but we made it. On July 1 I contacted McAtee to see if there was an expected arrival date for the part as we were having to turn the AC off and on numerous times throughout the course of the day to maintain a tolerable temperature and lets be honest, it had been over a month without functioning AC at this point and the representative stated that he suspected the issue at his last visit yet he didn't order the part then. I was informed the part wouldn't arrive until the 6th and I was scheduled for service on July 7th and paid an $85 fee for uncovered costs. The technician finished the job around 5 PM on the 7th although unlike his previous visit on the 25th, he did not check the indoor venting to ensure that cool air was blowing out. By midnight I was waking up because I was hot. When I checked the thermostat it read 76 despite being set to 72 and when I went outside the exterior pipe was frozen over again. So, here I am, 5 weeks out and 4 visits since my initial contact with this company and I still have non-functioning AC in my two story home in Southeastern Virginia where it is regularly in the 90s! I have attempted to call the company this morning but can only get through to a voice mail to which I have left a message.
