I had a terrible experience with Kaye Publicity of Chicago., which was paid $12,000 to work on my campaign. I had worked with various PR firms in the past on my six previous books and never had such a horrible experience or poor results. Dana Kaye, the owner, ended up in the middle of the campaign firing the PR specialist who was the main person handlingn PR for my book. This caused irreparable damage to the campaing and caused it to be neglected. Dana Kaye said she would take over the campaingn, but it became clear she knew little about my book and had not followed up in most of the contacts I had provided based on past podcast and other media interviews I had done on previous books. When I asked about this, Dana Kaye fabricated reasons why contacts were not followed up on (I can provide specific examples too numerous to list here) When I expressed my frustration to Dana Kaye, was both dismissive and condescending. In fact, she was exercising on a treadmill our entire conversation. She finally offered to refund $1,600 from the campaign. I am still waiting for my refund. One could reasonably ask, perhaps my book did not generate much interest. However, when the marketing director at my publisher began sending out inquiries to media after hearing of my problems with Kaye Publicity, she was able to secure as many interviews for me in two weeks that Kaye, which had been paid $12,000, had in six months. Additionally, I just had 187 people register to attend a presentation based on my book. People who paid to attend the event. It is now sadly too clear that Kaye Publicity is interested in taking your money, but not working for you. Authors should not hire this firm.
