I had extensive water damage through 3 levels of my home. My insurance company's recommendation was Jenkins Restoration for water mitigation and since Jenkins could send a crew out that evening, I went with their recommendation. The water mitigation crew was wonderful so based on that experience I decided to allow Jenkins Restoration to complete the restoration part of the job. That was the worst mistake that I could have made. The crew dispatched changed every day AND they did not conceal the fact that they did not like my presence in my residence while they were working.

The crew completed the demolition process with my furniture including large area rugs still in place and uncovered. They did not install plastic to block the dust and debris from going from the work zones into the rest of my house. My entire 1700 sq ft house was covered in drywall dust and debris. The crew finally rolled up the carpets only to place them on my upholstered couch which was not covered until the carpet was on it. I had to have all my upholstered furniture and area rugs professionally cleaned twice to completely remove the drywall dust.

The crew was very poor had coordinating the work that needed to be completed. They required three full days to relay ceramic tile floors which were not meant to be walked on. This information was not communicated to me or USAA so I was confined to a room in my house until the floors could be walked for two days.

The sub-contractor who was hired to refinish and relay the hardwood floors required one week after the new floor boards had acclimated. This again was not communicated. The sub-contractor attempted to install the new floor boards with very large gaps between the new boards AND without allowing the boards to acclimate to the home environment. The subcontractor tried to use wood putty to seal the 1/4 inch gaps between boards. The floor had to be removed and put in again. Last than six months after the work was complete there are two large gaps - 1/8 and 1/4 inch in two areas where new floor boards were laid. The wood putty has shrunk and is non-existent in those gaps.

The crew disposed of mixed drywall mud, tile cement, and grout by dumping these products into my laundry tub and kitchen sink pipes causing a major back-up in my sewer line to the street. The crew also cleaned out paint brushes in my powder room sink and left the faucet handles and sink covered with paint splatter.

I would never recommend Jenkins Restoration to anyone. And if your insurance company recommends them, I would ask for another recommendation.

DO NOT USE JENKIN'S FOR ANYTHING! I've been chasing them around for 6 months trying to get them to finish what they started. The roofing contractor left garbage next to my house, move stones from a wall outside and never returned them. Another sub came and ripped off half the casing to my back door, and left the other half that was damaged, but simply painted over it. Like I wouldn't notice? Mostly they do not return calls when they say, and their subcontractors do not return calls, I've had to call the manager Joe Jenkins 3 times now, and this last time I told him I'm at the end of my rope.

A company called Jenkins Restoration was commissioned to do the restoration on my home. A gentleman by the name of Scott Ruane showed up at my home. He seemed like a very nice fellow and was confident that he could have the repairs done. He gave me good feeling that everything would be taken care of. Having that piece of mind was important to me. So much so that I then asked Scott if Jenkins Restoration could also install the dishwasher I had purchased for my home and also install carpet in the upstairs den as well as doing the restoration. He assured me he could do this and prepared a separate estimate for that work. Scott also took a look at my kitchen counter and said that it would be difficult to install the dishwasher and we could have a problem with the old kitchen counter. I agreed that it could be difficult and decided to have him also work up an estimate to replace the kitchen counter top as well. With the restoration planned with the additional work planned as well, a contract was drawn up and work was to begin the week of the 18th. How exciting! Not only was my home going to be fixed from the fire I just had but I was also going to get my dishwasher installed, a new counter top, flooring and carpet upstairs! I picked out the carpet, flooring and counter top that I wanted and we were ready to start work.

I will have to state here that the previous paragraph was the only pleasant part of the restoration experience. Everything goes very bad really fast from here on out.

Monday the 18th work begins and a group from Kerin's Painting Inc. shows up to start demolition. Drywall gets taken out, carpet, all of the things you expect that would happen the first day of a restoration job. Kerin is friendly and polite and assures me that everything is going to be fine. Monday is complete and although the house is in disarray, I still have a positive outlook on the project. Tuesday I get a text from Scott at Jenkins Restoration saying that no work will be completed today because Kerin's Painting needs a day to go buy materials. This raises a question to me. Why if I have picked out carpet, flooring and counter top and paint a few weeks ago are they going to buy materials needed for the job the 2nd day in to the work? This will be answered on Wednesday. Wednesday I get a message that the counter top I have requested and the carpet is not available, they are special orders and I would have to wait on the carpet and 2 weeks on the counter top. In my opinion, this is when I should have threw in the towel but I conceded and agreed to take whatever they had in stock. Kerin showed me the options available and I chose a dark counter top and a light carpet. I confirmed this with Scott Jenkins Restoration but sending him an email with the pictures of the carpet and counter top. I will have to say at this time there was NO change order for a less expensive carpet and counter top per was written in the contract. Wednesday continues and I am told that the Dishwasher install will need to have its own receptacle. Scott from Jenkins says that he will send me an estimate for the work and assures me that they can get it done. Wednesday night a man named Tito comes to the house and says he is there to run the new line form the box to the wall for the dishwasher. I say ok and he proceeds to work. He completes the task in about an hour and a half and goes on his way. Thursday starts with a text from Scott at Jenkins Restoration that I need to pay Kerin's Paint Inc. $710 dollars for the work. This is when I lost it! I called Scott and argued that I contracted Jenkins Restoration to do the work not Kerin's paint company and under the contract I signed prior to any work being done an estimate will be provided and both parties need to sign off on the estimate prior to any work being done. I am furious! He agrees and negotiates with Kerin’s painting and calls me back and says that the cost has dropped from $710 to $250. I pay it and I should not have to do that! Thursday was a very bad day. Friday is even worse. I come home to see the wrong carpet installed and poorly done, paint all over my cabinets, a poor attempt at installing a dishwasher, broken trim and crown molding reinstalled all throughout the house, a very poor attempt at a counter top installation, blood on my refrigerator, doors on said refrigerator bent and not working, paint pieces and who only knows what else in my laundry room sink, and I can go on! I made a 60 slide power point presentation! Not only am I my at the end of my rope with the work on my house, Scott from Jenkins Restoration is arguing with me about what carpet I picked!
I have given up. I have lost all hope. The house I just purchased in January has caught fire in March and is still in shambles with no hope of getting it fixed properly and it is close to the end of April.
After numerous calls and emails to Liberty Mutual and Scott @ Jenkins Restoration, I am assured Monday that all will be fixed. Monday work commences and Kerin from Kerin’s paint is on sight for the remainder of the build. He fixes most of everything. At least that is what I am told. We will start with the carpet upstairs. The carpet did not in most areas not even reach the wall. In my opinion, new carpet should be installed. The carpet I picked! Kerin’s fix is to add more trim to the existing trim so that instead of the carpet coming to the wall, the wall now comes to the carpet. The carpet downstairs I understand doing this because the original carpet was glued down so they have to have some way to keep it from pulling up.
Let’s talk about the countertop next. The countertop around the stove has been cut so many times and not straight I may add that I fear there is no hope of recovering the counter top. Kerin states that this is the best he can do.
Let’s talk about the dishwasher. Poor installation and not secured in the enclosure and still gaps around the entire dishwasher. I was told this would be fixed and it is not. This is the best they can do.
In summary, my experience has been horrible. I do not wish this experience on anyone. What I am mostly upset about is the time and aggravation this costed me. This should have been relatively simple and it has been the worst experience I have had. My house catching on fire coming in at a close 2nd to this.

Thank goodness Jenkins Restorations did not repair my home after water damage. My insurance company, USAA, recommend them too. RD, the project manager, turned out to be two-faced, after promising the moon and bending over backwards to please initially. This company will promise one thing, then renig on their promise and break their word. Additionally, this company will hold you hostage and NOT order the materials to fix your home in a timely manner, until you pay ½ the overage fee, when they initially said the overage fee didn't have to be paid until the work was completed and met with our approval. BEWARE! The company also was punitive when we would not allow key and alarm code access to the home based on a previous experience on a prior insurance claim elsewhere when the home was robbed, vandalized and keys were stolen. Based on this past horrible experience with another insurance claim, we agreed to let workers into the home at ANY time, night or day, rather than pass the alarm code and keys to numerous workers, since the home still had unsecured personal property and valuables in the areas unaffected by the water damage. Jenkins Restorations turned punitive as a result and wanted to add contract changes for us to incur "trip charges" if we were ever late! Furthermore, this company wanted to add to the contract addendum that they would not be available for questions or issues while construction was ongoing. Excuse me, but I am the homeowner and if there are issues or concerns while construction is ongoing, it is my right to discuss at any time. After RD gave a start date for demolition to begin, he listed in the contract addendum that the start date would be "undetermined." These negative and harsh conditions as an addendum to the initial contract were wrong, absolutely unnecessary and completely unacceptable. Of course, who would sign a contract addendum that was so negative, punitive, callous, insensitive, inconsiderate and thoughtless?! The worst part of all of this is that RD sent this negative contract addendum by email to me while he knew I was meeting with my daughter and grandchildren out of town for Spring break. Consequently, this ruined the entire vacation, since interactions had to take place with Jenkins as well as the USAA adjuster that were very unpleasant. Jenkins Restorations and the project manager, RD, conducted business in a highly unprofessional and unbecoming manner as specified in this review. If you are assigned this company to restore your home after damage from an insurance claim, get another company as quickly as possible. DO NOT USE Jenkins Restorations under any circumstances.

USAA needs to work on this company. It's making me rethink staying with them for insurance. Very similar story. I've missed so much work trying to manage the subcontractors that the "project manager" can't, I should be a paid Jenkins employee at this point, I've done more work to get this done than anyone on their payroll. I finally have my house back together, but the walls are still are marked up (walls they repainted, only to have another subcontractor damage). Such an awful experience.

After three days of work repairing a ceiling, it was so bad it had to be ripped out and done all over again. They took FAR longer for all work than promised. After being WAY overdue, I was sick of having them in my house, so I signed off and let them go, with a couple of little things (about $450 worth of labor) not complete. It was less hassle to me to do it myself.

But then they came back weeks later and billed us an extra $946 after we signed the final papers saying it was done. I demanded a credit for the unfinished work but they didn't care. They threatened to turn it into our credit, sue us, and put a lien on our house. My wife, out of pure fear, paid the whole $946. That's insane! They didn't finish the work!

All I can do now is to cost them more than the amount they ripped us off for. They did good work removing the water after the leak, but DO NOT let them repair the damage afterward.

OMG, they’ve done the exact same thing in my home. I’ve been dealing with them for over four months now on a project scheduled to last 30-days. These guys are the WORST, I’ve complained relentlessly to my insurance company about their lack of communication, excessive billing, and just all around lack of professional customer client service. They have actually done more damage to my home with their lack of care (marring on walls, dust everywhere-because they covered NOTHING, dings in walls, missing parts to bathroom fixtures, I could go on and on). PLEASE, PLEASE don’t use these guys! I've provided my insurance company dozens and dozens of pictures of their crappy work and yet still they have not pulled the contract.

Well said; wish I had seen this before the exact same thing happened to us. No communication, no coordination, lack of professionalism.

I have more damage to contend with now then I did at the time of the claim! Sorry you went through same.

Same thing happened, they were great at tear out, after...terrible! Terrible communications, contractors were a wreck, hated our presence (which I forgot to add In my other reviews). We had usaa with them also, and they sided with them! We cancelled them since! Our job is a year old, still not finished!
This company has still not finished it's work...and wants me to sign over checks from my insurance company. It's been a year our kitchen, laundry room and parts of our basement were flooded. They didn't finish the laundry room, it took 3 times to even get close to finishing our hardwood floor properly...and that was a huge fight! Hardwood floor: 1-wrong finish and lower quality wood than originally used, 2-worm holes all over, 3-finally got a knowledgeable guy! Scratched my tile In the laundry room. Didn't listen to me as far as what time would work for getting this done. They did get there tear stuff up, but used many poor quality contractors after. Wouldn't recommend them, I have seen a whole house redone from flooding in the time it took them to just get a few areas done correctly.
