To whom it may concern

I want to make a complaint against the Life Hunters Craig Hospital in Port Elizabeth, on Behalf of Miss B.C Davids (my mother).

To my understanding a private hospital is suppose to give quality service with satisfactory food. This does not happen at this hospital. Miss Davids has been at the hospital for the past 2 weeks, and not ONCE has she received proper food. Numerous complaint have been made from most of the patients. This past two weeks she has hardly eaten which is unhealthy, but she could not take the standards of the food any longer. She started getting bleeding piles due to the food she is eating. They then changed her diet. But ever since she has received the same breakfast for which is bread with cheese. This is after she has to ask for them to give her the food she is suppose to eat. They are extremely unplanned since they NEVER know what to give her, or sometimes don’t even know that she is suppose to get different food. A few days ago she through the food and plate on the floor out of frustration. To top it all the cleaning and food staff are extremely RUDE. I Have observed this myself. Miss Davids is suppose to be recovering but the standards of that hospital is making her condition even worse. I am extremely unhappy that I had to take her food from home, because she was not eating Yesterday.

For the amount of money the patients are paying. Hunters Craig (Supposing to be a PRIVATE HOSPITAL) Is a pathetic example of South Africa’s hospitals. If they treat patients so badly. If nothing is done about this situation. We will go to the news papers and take this matter further.

Her cell phone number is [protected]

I recently had a 21 day stay at Hunters Craig for alcohol abuse and found it to be the most peacefull and joyfull stay I have had in years. Thank you Hunters Craig Doctors and Staff. You will never be forgotten. From Heidi.

Hi there. i cannot believe what i am reading here about the accusations, insults and just plain ignorance and pettiness of complainants! what do you think this is? A 5 star hotel, a holiday farm? If all of you stop for one minute being so selfish and self-absorbed, you would realise that you came here because you had a problem - not to order people around, staff, nurses, sisters, the ladies prepariing the most delicious meals (BETTER THAN YOU EAT AT HOME IM SURE) and stop complaining and think about the staff who has and always goes the EXTRA MILE AND BEYOND TO SATISFY ALL YOUR PETTY ORDERS, DEMANDS, whilst working day and night to CARE FOR YOU! Piece of advice - get rid of your problem at home or book into a general or private hospital and see how you are treated there before you talk and critisize hardworking caring and most efficient staff. i would like to escpecially thank Sisters, Carolina and Beulah on night shift this week for your absolute fabulous service, your kind hearts, assisting us with any and everything and putting up with stupid tantrums as well! you are the best! then day staff. Sister Christa and pretty Patricia, thank you also and im thanking all of you on behalf of everyone and apolozing on behalf of all the spoilt brats complaing. Thank you - better service you wont find in an "actual hotel" that i can assure you. you go the extra mile and then some more. i want to commend you on your commitment your patience your assistance - you need medals really! Mangement you have the best team any hospital institution can ask for. truly. and critizing the food! now i have heard it all. those people slave themselves in the heat to provide us with the most delicious and assorted meals and you have the audacity to complain about mal-neutrition. you obviously are living of mealy pap at home. the only thing that is very poor in Hunters craig are the cleaning staff. and i have seen with my own eyes how sisters clean toilets on behalf of Prestige cleaners just to keep naggers like you happy! if that is not bending backwards then i dont know. you need to get educated all of you

I was admitted 3 or 4 times. As I'm under age my parents had to get me a carer. Most of my stay there was pleasant and the staff was friendly, some of them are only pretending to care though and after my 4th time I saw some of their true colours ! Some of those people was : Colleen, Beulah, and the Matron ! Those who actually care : Theresa, Yvonne, Norman, Sister Steyn, christna and my lovely carers. My psychologist Rose Gowar is a real darling and I love her to bits! I give all credit to her for my recovery ! Over all it was a positive experience, the rotten apples just needs to be separated from the good...

Hi All,

I have been in Hunters for the last three weeks. Yes there was a few things that did not make me happy.
Like the fact that there was no smokers room, we had to smoke out side in the rain.

Some of the staff, did not help with making my stay a happy one, but there were some that made up for it.
So to Norman, Patrica, Colleen, Des, Kay, Jo, Yvonne, Pochia, Mel, Sandy and not for getting the kitchen staff.
Thank you very much, you all had a part in my recovery.

Thanks to all the people (patients) who have become part of a new circial friends.
May God Bless you all.

Thank you Hunters Craig, you are doing your best.

I have had a stay at the Hunters Craig Hospital under self admission.
For the period .. (16 to 19 June 2010)

The staff are friendly, competent, the building clean and well looked after.

The management of patients was caring and patient.

The rooms clean, bathrooms immaculate.

The building was just a bit cold, but its winter here and that is what blankets are for. LOL!

The food is well balanced with decently measured portions of the choice of the day, which would be some post toasties with warm milk or scrambled eggs on toast, or sunny side up eggs the next day with and some toast with jam per person followed by a nice cup or two of tea or Coffey or Rooibos or warm milk.

Lunch would be some juice, Warm beef strips in gravy on rice, with a apple or banana, with the Coffey tray!

Supper would also be a nice tasty balanced meal.. And so on.

The food is sufficient to keep one well fed and stop a fatty like me from expanding.

At no time did I see anyone mishandling any patient at anytime.

So Thanks to Hunters.
For the stay in a clean safe place.
Tommy.
