Home Pride - Omaha, NEDo not stand behind their warranty!

Home Pride, Inc. in Omaha, NE contracted to put an entire new roof on my home in Earling, IA, after a tornado last year. We paid over $7,000.00 for this (on a relatively small home), and were assured the roof would last for years. The contract showed that Home Pride gave us a one-year warranty. However, before the year was up, our roof developed a bad leak, which also caused damage to our wood burning stove, and the ceiling in our living room. We contacted Home Pride several times, and no one ever came up to check or repair. We finally had to hire someone local, because it continued to rain, and the leak was really bad. We sent the bill to Home Pride, and they have never acknowledged that letter. I sent them a second letter with a copy to the Better Business Bureau, who contacted Home Pride twice, with the same response that I got, which was dead silence.

Doesn't a company have to stand behind a warranty? What good is a warranty if they never intend to honor it? Needless to say, I am very upset and unhappy with this situation. Now the warranty is over, but the damage occurred long before that. Do I have any recourse at all?

They are crooks and are being investigated by the attorney General. They have tons of complaints with the BBB. I would never do business with these crooks. They belong in jail with the rest of the crooks who take advantage of people. In essence they are committing fraud because they sell you something and then you do not get what you paid for.

Dorothy, I agree..Homepride seems to have ripped me off too. In my case I had a contract that specified brand “A” shingles (brand “b” was junk). The contract had no language allowing substitutions, nor was I verbally told of any. It seems they could not get brand “A” on the day they were to do my roof so rather then have a roofing crew not working (no money in it for the owner?) they chose to put on brand “B”. HomePride later sent me an invoice for brand “A”. That was six years ago. Recently I was surprised to see the roof is failing (it is crumbling). It is supposed to be functional for 25+ years..! I went to HomePride and from their own files discovered their fraud. (they had installed brand “B” ..a brand that is in a huge class action suit). The local BBB says they can't help since it is not within 1 year of the transaction. (by the way the BBB is funded by its members!.. also in a real court of law the statute of limitations on fraud begins at the point of discovery.) what a joke..they don't get it. Anyway, I am glad you were able to get your repair done.
