Group Health Cooperative review: Insurance Coverage outside the state of Washington

This company is an absolute nightmare to deal with administratively. They simply do not know how to run their business outside the borders of the state of Washington. They are an HMO run amok with administrators who know nothing of providing "in network" care in an "out of network" situation ie) Arizona. They drag their feet on everything from having to make multiple requests for providing pre-authorizations to go see anyone outside of your family doctor to not following through with letters of pre-authorization. This results in nonpayment of bills in a timely manner on their part due to their lackadaisical attitude towards running a business. I found myself babysitting this company in every instance I required their involvement. Unfortunately, they were our insurance company when we did require the services medically in our family. The reason for their administrative blunders I was informed were due to the fact they recently got into the business of doing business outside of Washington. After two years of coverage with them "nothing" changed and were probably worse due to our extreme annoyance with this frustratingly, disorganized company. Stay as far away from this company as you possibly can. They get a big, fat zero for a scorecard from this former insurance paying customer.
