I used Fortress twice, and they did a great job. I wrote all the glowing reviews, and sent them several customers. But when the s**t hit the fan and I was in the midst of a family AND business emergency - I asked for their help with my biannual review with the IRS. I was overwhelmed, and thought that there might be some gratitude for the money they'd made from my recommendations.

Nope. I got back a harsh response saying they were a for-profit company, and it would cost me $2500. There was no "We're sorry you're going through such a rough time, and we're grateful for your business." Nothing. If they'd have said that along with explaining how they couldn't help me, I would've had a totally different take.

Thankfully, I called the IRS and in 70 minutes it was resolved. For free. So, buyer beware. The attorney I used is no longer there, and I've had to send more than one person to other sources for tax help. If you're fine with it being transactional, it will probably be okay. But don't leave all the reviews they ask, and don't expect there to be appreciation should you help expand their bottom line. All you'll be doing is wasting your time.

My initial conversations with Fortress Tax Relief left me with the distinct impression that they were were different, in a good way, from others I had spoken with as I tried to choose from among the many organizations offering to handle my business' case. My gut feelings were validated by the outstanding service that they provided throughout what can be, by its very nature, a stressful process. Though my business is small, I came away feeling like my case was handled with the same sense of importance as that of a much larger company. That speaks to the integrity of the amazing, highly skilled and compassionate people who comprise Fortress Tax Relief. For anyone seeking exceptional handling of their tax related needs, I can't imagine how you could do any better with anyone other than Fortress Tax Relief.

The attorney and assistant (Peter and Karlin) were professional, responsive, and knowledgeable. I was confident my concerns would be mitigated due to their experience with both the state and federal authorities. While I debated securing the payment plans and abatement requests on my own, I'm grateful I chose Fortess to provide these services. They were able to secure the lowest rate payment plan, and write and deliver the abatement letter that exceeded my expectations. Both tasks could not have been completed successfully and to such a thorough, professional, and timely degree without their aid. They were able to coordinate with the IRS during the pandemic, while it was challenging for the general public to contact the IRS during the shutdown. I highly recommend Fortress and their team with any past tax issues.

Fortress Tax Relief was awesome and it was great to have their team on my team! I had initially engaged another firm (a national, highly advertised company) to help me out with a complex tax issue. The experience with that firm was miserable - slow to no progress, bait and switch pricing, and a complete lack of technical competence. I hired Fortress after an extensive search and couldn't be happier about how it turned out. Fortress cleared up my problem in weeks vs. months, displayed mastery of the issues involved and was consummately professional - all at about a quarter of the projected cost of using the other firm. Fortress and their team got a big monkey off my back and saved me a ton in taxes - I am incredibly grateful for their efforts. I would not hesitate to use them again for a tax delinquency issue and I would specifically request their help.

When I talk with the owner I was told that a lot of my penalties could be removed and they could help me out. Now only in certain circumstances. My attorney was Art and he was very rude and was told that he would call and apologize which he never did. When I asked to see what he has done for what I paid for, I was ignored and talked over. Ask for another attorney and did not receive what I asked for! As long as my money came in they was happy to talk. When I paid my last payment the next day they called and said you need to pay $1500-$2000. Mind you I just paid $1,500 the day before. Now they wanted to put my case on hold for more money. Yes I missed some deadlines for the same form. Was told two different things to fill out a form and was charged for that! St the time they had something to send to the IRS. Art only contact the IRS one time and sent some documents one time. I paid $5,400 for typing up documents and phone calls to be honest! I should have choose a local place to represent me.

After the IRS issued liens and seizure notices for liabilities in excess of $1M dating back to [protected], it was time to get this issue resolved. You can imagine our heartache, fear, and loss for what to do after many floods had destroyed most records that old. After much research, we hired Fortress Tax Relief and worked with David F. and Heather W. to bring this issue to resolution. They were professional, dealt directly with the IRS Revenue Officer, provided sound legal advice, and always contacted us or replied in less than 1 business day. We even located old receipts & were able to reconstruct some of our tax records using the IRS reconstruction method, which helped us prove the liability was substantially less than stated. Plus, the IRS expiration date (CSED) was fast approaching. While dealing with this, my husband had a heart attack and I was diagnosed with breast cancer. When it was all said and done, the liens and subseqent seizures were released. We have a new start and are excited, relieved, and blessed. We truly felt like a "David & Goliath" moment had occurred. I am incredibly grateful for the hard work Fortress Tax Relief did on my behalf. I owed the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) close to $50,000 for past taxes from a failed business endeavor nearly ten years ago. The IRS had begun withholding my tax returns and was threatening to garnish my wages if I did not pay the amount in full. I had tried to resolve my tax debt in the past using a different tax relief company that I heard advertised on the Radio that took my money and went out of business soon after. I chose to use Fortress Tax Relief because they are a local company here in ***, ***, and they are tax attorneys rather than CPA's. I provided them with every document they requested to represent me to the best of their abilities. The team at Fortress Tax Relief represented me and spoke with the IRS on my behalf, and provided me with regular updates on the status of my offer to compromise. Fortress Tax Relief has not only proven itself to be everything they advertise, but their team was able to get my Tax debt reduced to pennies on the dollar through an offer to compromise. My total tax liability went from almost $50,000 down to $4,800 after accepting my offer. I highly recommend using Fortress Tax Relief. I am incredibly pleased with the way they handled me as a client. Of course, I am thrilled with the outcome as well.

I feel this company is not honest in it's approach although it may have the ability to get the job done. I feel they scam you with their Service Agreement. They lure you in with a rate better than their competitors and tell you it is based on a Flat Rate based on Performance not Hourly. But then at the end say you did not meet the Service Agreement 100% therefore for them to finish the case you need to pay them more money which would cause you to pay more than you would have paid their competitors. When they asked for more money I went through all the emails, billing report, etc. and I was able to document that it was actually Fortress Tax Relief that did not meet the terms. When I presented the facts, they did not care. Out of Principal I was not going to pay them more money when indeed they did not meet their own Service Agreement. This is how they do it, it is a 5 step process: 1. They give a good rate to get your work, 2. the attorney assigned says he does not think it is enough but will do it if you signature that if you miss an exact date, that they can say you messed up, and it will allow them to charge you more, 3. then they make an arbitrary deadline of their own, not for the IRS, but one that they know you won't agree to for good reason, but say it is a deadline. 4. Then they fault you and 5. say if you want them to finish your case you need to pay more. If paying more is not an issue for you then I am sure they can get the work done, however I am a person of principal and I could see through their scam to get more money. I have all the correspondence to prove it.
