My husband and I weren't even making ends-meet when he decided to go into the trucking industry. He stumbled upon the driver solutions website and we both thought it would be a good idea since he wasn't having good luck with getting a job our here. Well, he applied and was contacted by a man named Brian Kelly I believe. We went through a process of application as normal and they checked out his dvr record and all was fine and ready to go. He went to C1 Trucking School in Springfield, MO for a 3 week training course to get his CDL. Everything went fine and dandy for a while and he passed and received his CDL. He was hired on to P.A.M. by the time he was done with the school and this is where it starts to go bad.
He was scheduled to start the following Tuesday with them. Now grant it, I was working but barely making it with the house payment and babysitting costs on my own. So by this time we were pretty broke with supporting him while being gone. So we were more than ready to get him on the road to start making some money. Well, he was supposed to be on the road for 4 weeks with a trainer getting only $300 a week (minus taxes and a portion to pay for part of the tuition). That was fine, any money was good money at this point.
Well, he calls the contact at P.A.M. to start his loads and training, no answer, leaves a message. Well, we don't get a call back all day, he calls again, no answer, leaves a message. So we suffer for two weeks of no answers and leaving messages and asking a rude receptionist to page her to her desk for our call and her refusing to do so. Finally, the lady calls back. Well, she claimed that she couldn't get through the phone. That's funny, because he left messages with two phones to contact, both in working order and even C1 was frustrated this so called coordinator lady from P.A.M. because a ton of other new employees were having the same problem.
But whatever, he gets started with a trainer two weeks later after C1. So we're finally making money. However the "training" mind you lasted 6 weeks before dispatch finally decided to get my husband to the orientation in Tontitown where they were supposed to get him his own truck. The other thing was that his trainer was rude and unsafe with his driving, and took random pictures of women everywhere he went. My husband remembers finding piles and piles of pictures of random women in the trainers glove compartment. Interesting...what kind of people are they employing.
But nevermind that, he goes through orientation and gets a truck and makes one run and gets to be home finally. He has a couple days off at home and then got to head out again and start making regular (better) pay. His dispatcher calls him for a run and tells him to go back up to Effingham to get the truck inspected (since it was run down in the first place when he got it) and then start his load. Well my husband got to the shop and told the mechanics the truck was there for it's inspection. The mechanics looked at him funny and told him he was only there to drop off the truck. So he called his dispatcher and his dispatcher immediately transfered him to the safety guy. The safety told him he was fired for a speeding ticket back in 2006 and he was on his own for getting back home. He asked why all the sudden that supposed ticket came up when it should have been caught in the beginning when they said he was good on his dvr report.
So I had to get my infant son and drive for 7 hours to pick him up and get him back home. No compensation, nothing. They didn't even pay him for his first run, his layover or anything. P.A.M. Transport is a rip off! 3 months of "training" to be stranded in the middle of nowhere, no money, no nothing, sucked dry of money spent on essentials for that crappy truck. He has left messages in almost every department there demanding to see that so called report and to be compensated and actually get his payment for the runs that he did for them. Several messages, no answers, no returned calls or emails. We are looking for a lawyer or a class action lawsuit to join. They left us with tuition (promised to pay, yeah right!) and even more broke then we were before. Those life sucking idiots should never be trusted! Don't go with P.A.M. Transport ever!

Hello, my name is William Falcon and i also went thru driver solutions and did the C1 school in Indianapolis, in. i tell you that all is knowing what you getting into it. you must know all your records when it comes to applying for any trucking company. 10 years later i have worked for several companies. because of my location Pam sent me to one of their sisters companies...Allen freight out of Jacksonville, Fl. i waited one 1/2 week thru Pam and 2 days with Allen freight. but the whole time i was able to keep in touch with someone. the most important thing here is knowing your driving history, which it can be obtain at a court house in your state. also this days your dac or like they call it this days psp (pre employment screening program) it will show u all drug test taken and refusals, all employment history, accidents, etc. for just 10$ but is worth it so that way u know all your dates of employment or any problems that could come up. like many said, Pam Transport didn't fire him for the ticket, most likely was for not mentioned it on application. that simple. as a manager now we don't like to be lie. so if you dont know is best to talk about it.

my husband went to C1 school in IN although he didnt have any problems what so ever with the school when he was done he went to work for PAM . If we knew now that it would have been this way i would have looked somewhere else, its a horrible company to work for. The pay is awful and i believe that the only ones to make it a year are the stepford drivers who do what they are told and dont make waves. My husband was cussed, threatend and basically told either do it or else. He was teamed up on his last week of work and found out that his team mate was sending messages to the company trying to get him fired when he contacted dispatch they said yea were letting you go but its up to you to figure out how to get home. All this probably wouldnt have been so bad if my husbands partner wasnt shooting up in the truck! when my husband tried to report it they just said he was pissed because he was getting fired! Thank god he quit when he did because 2 days later that idiot had an accident im just thankful my husband wasnt there. Beware of PAM!

ok i went with driver solutions... it sucked yeah but the school and teacher were good guy trying to give as much advise about the business. then i went to usa trucking... my trainer was the coolest old guy i had ever met... then i go out on my own, i know us newbie's aren't getting the good stuff cause it's true new guyss are the most likely to get into a accident, the truck i had was a piece of crap but instead of complaining, i just drove it, till the turbo started spraying oil, i spent 3 days in texas. then i get back to van buren arkansas and spent 2 weeks waiting for a truck(they put me into a truck the was in an accident) drove that truck till the abs light came on and the breaks on the tractor and trailer locked up. after that happened in southern indiana i had to drive from there to indy. with an empty trailer and the abs light turning on and off every 50 miles. they put me into a third truck, no front plate drove that one till i said i had enough. my fleet manager would send me on ### runs and the log department kept getting on me cause my logs looked like crap. that was fine but when i complained tat i had no hours to drive and needed a 34 they would send me a load and say pick-up or your fired. some of the loads i was put on took 8 hours to load, and only allowed me 10 hours to drive it to its final but the prolem i then ran into was that 10 hr's of driving was exact to get it there not accounting for traffic, i had been up for 34 hour and was needing sleep after the load delivered. no chance get the next load or your fired. i had been with the company for 4 months at that point. i think my biggest problem was the pay, .24cpm, i was making almost more money driving with the trainer then i was driving solo. so 6 months in i quit, now driver solutions is willing to set me up with another job or so they say, 2 1/2 weeks pass and i said ### it, i am going with swift till i pay this stupid "load(blood money)" back. then i'm out of this otr stuff, with the right company it could have been a career but i guess i just wasn't lucky. oh and being out on the road and getting a scale ticket i sent it in and asked them to take care of it out of my pay check 2 months later i find out it wasn't taken care of, and my liscense was suspended, i called and asked them wtf, exact quote was " we have no record of you sending it in, the last person who worked here quit(that was her excuse)" f usa trucking i delivered a ### ton of stuff for them, but i was averaging maybe [protected] mile a week, and to top it off they didn't even think to cough up half of the money they promised, that would have been cool but now i have to pay back 5180 dollars. it's a scam for some, its a career for other, it is littaraly the luck of the draw, don't just choose ds look and talk to the other truck driving schools and do some research before taking a nose dive into poverty like some of us but i think things could be worse. after i pay the f-ing loan back i think i'll look into waste management i might actually make some money.

I would love the see all of us that either got lie to before we ever got a class, or lie to during, or after classes were done, just inundate the B.B.B. and the General Attorneys office in our states with complaint about how we have been treated. Maybe they would start investigating places like Driver Solution and C1 and P.A.M. Better yet get a hold of the local news that investigates rip offs like these.

If any one trys to set you up with Driver solution and/or C1 run fast and run far don't look back.Driver Solution wasted 3 weeks of my time. I had to call them every tuesday 1st time was to get info for them set up a web site for me to get into e-gears/driveraccount and then the next week was for info too see if they could find me a job to pay for my tuition and they said they see no problem with that. I called them back the 3rd week and I was informed there were no openings, but to keep in touch. After that conversation I went to get on the e-gears/driveraccount and it said my appilcation was being processed to check back later. When I did my account was closed down my permit test practice I was doing were gone every thing was wiped out and a note saying I could reapply in 90 days. Don't forget they and the web site said to called back each week. The [censor] and that is being nice didn't have the guts to even tell me on the phone what they were going to do. I am seriously considering turn in a complant to the BBB and attorney general
for one they have been misleading people by telling us about all the jobs out there, I do beleive that is known as lying. If these people would say the sky is blue I would not believe them. I really want think the goverment or B.B.B. should investigate them.
I would also be skeptical about in companies that deal with Driver Solution and/or C1.
Oh I almost forgot the best part Driver solution after wiping out the website left a list of driving school that might help and guess what the 1st on the list was yep C1. Who do they think gave me the information to contact them. I have a feeling that driver solution and C1 are closer related than they want people to know especailly if it has to do with who gets in and who doesn't. I think their slime and I hope they both go under!

I just order a pasta with no cheese and a two-liter coke and the total was $11.12. I tipped...$2.00. I think that's a fair tip, they are one-mile down the street from me. the pasta was $6 the coke was $2 and the delivery fee was $2 and the $1.12 must have been the tax. At any rate, I couldve gone out to eat for less, or had better quality food (Dominoe's Pasta is Chef Borordee but not as good...dig?), but this is what "I" chose to eat, and I got What I Paid For. The Delivery driver was not friendly when he arrived, (i live on the third floor so i understand why) i did tell them to "call" me when they got to my building and I couldve walked to his car and got the pasta and saved him from the stairs..but alas, he didnt call. The point im trying to make is this: IF YOU ORDER ANYTHING TO EAT AND HAVE IT DELIVERED TO YOU, dont you think that must be more of a hassel than just bringing it to a table like a waitress would? These drivers make jack-crap for wages and even less in tips; and most of em' are only taking on such a job because it's a (quick to-get hired business) and the reward is cash...mostly high-school students and college students. its rough. if your order is less than $20, I think a $2-4 tip is grand...if its over $20...$5 should be the minimum. anything over $25, and one should exercise the ol' 15-20% rule... and tip accordingly. I was too lazy to go get food, and I did not get quality food nor alot of food...but i did not disrespect the driver nor the compnany of Dominoes by not tipping and being a total Dousche-Bag. I Hope You will Tip from now on, Mrs. Indiana and I do Thank You for your Time.

I don’t care what anybody says stay away I mean far away from these bottom feeding con artists. Their job is manipulate and deceive and trap you in debt then act like they have no idea on how their carriers operate. I hope more people come forward and maybe they can finally do something about their shady operation.

I am a trainer for PAM. I have been working for PAM for 4 years, training for 1 year. I went through C1 in Texas and had very few problems. Yes, many of the people that showed up the first day never made it. Some couldn't pass the physical. Some couldn't pass the written test. I found the instructors to be tough, but good. I know personally a student who was given 6 weeks to pass the 3 week course. He finally made it and I trained him. He is now gainfully employed by PAM. PAM is not perfect, No company is perfect.
Nobody should go to Trucking School thinking they will make the "BIG BUCKS" their first year. You should be grateful for the chance to learn. This is an entry level position. Go in with the right attitude and all will be well.
I for one, am glad I went to C1 and am VERY happy to be working for PAM. If you have questions, I will be glad to answer them. dbass7352@aol.com

You can get a copy of all the reports that you want through the government. By law they have to furnish you with your MVR I think the cost s around $30. And as for P.A.M. anyone who says they are an awesome company is smoking funny stuff...We just a had one of their drivers hit us Yesterday, You know what he told us. He had 6 weeks of training, he specifically told them he did not feel comfortable driving the truck by himself and PAM told him to "suck it up." P.A.M. Should be sued for their lack of compassion and their lack of caring for the general publics safety. And to the people saying this man should "keep his record clean" As soon as you start driving for 11 hours a day 7 days a week you let me know how many tickets you get. Oh yeah and We talked to PAM today and they told us we shouldn't park in truck-stops if we don't want to get hit by trucks. Are you kidding me? If its any consolation to you ma'am our insurance company is suing them for the damages and our first estaminet is for $5, 350.00

I am really glad i decided to search reviews about PAM trucking and its training program. You can bet your [censor] i WONT BE GOING! I wish the best of luck for the ones who have had to go through that BS. SUE THERE [censor]! This i one off the reasons there are so many jobs available for trucking. They recrut you with lies and promisess and then stab you in the back just to leave you worse off then you were to begin with. May still try to get my cdl but not this way. GOOD LUCK TO YALL!

Also my trainer would hit up EVERY topless bar. He would DRINK beer and make me sit there with a coke like a dope. Then when we leave the Topless bar around 2am, he would say it's my turn to drive. He would then pass out drunk in the sleeper while I drive all night. THIS WAS THE GUY THAT IS SUPPOSE TO BE TRAINING ME!

I wanted to report him but Everyone at PAM loved him and I didn't want to rock the boat. He would just deny it anyway and say I was the one drinking.. OR PAM would have fired me for being at topless bars a dozen times with him. That's the way it works with this industry. He was a good driver and well liked at PAM so they would have let me go if I caused trouble by reporting him. YOU CAN COUNT ON IT. This happened all the time with him but somehow, I finished training alive and got my truck... I still didn't know how to back up efficiently because he would never let me back up. He would tell me, "not in my truck, you can figure that out in your truck and damage yours"... followed by a cheesy chuckle as if it was a joke.

WOW I finally get my truck! So excited! Now I'm told that I'll have to wait in Tontitown until a truck is available(WTF?).. even though they had at least 200 trucks sitting in the lot ready to be issued to drivers. So there I sit, waiting again, with no money, food or self respect.
Tontitown was disgusting... The showers looked and smelled like a porn store... trash was over flowing.. the floor had sticky substance that made your shoes squeak... maybe people spill sodas? don't really know or want to know.
The lounge was disgusting. When I got up from the sofa in the lounge there was a oil residue all over me and musk like smell.

So I wait... and wait... and wait... 4 days later I am told that my truck is in Illinois and a driver will be coming to Tontitown sometime that day or tomorrow to get a load going to Illinois that will give me a ride. So he gets here finally, wakes me up at 3am telling me he''s here and ready to go and then makes me drive all that way! At that point I didn't care, I just wanted to get the hell out of that dump in tontitown and finally start making money... my cell was about to get shut off due to none payment! I was broke and starving.

We get to the receiver and unload, then he takes me to get my truck finally. We get there and there it is, a run down, lopsided, filthy truck. He had a smirk on his face as he dropped me off and said, "gotta go, good luck hu-huhha"
Then inside of the truck was trashed out, spilled coke and food everywhere. I found a dildo in one of the overhead compartments. Found used dental floss, baby wipes, used cue tips, snot/cum rags etc etc etc. I later found out that the previous driver was released... that explained the trashed out truck I guess.. or maybe he was like my trainer, a slob. So I spend most of day cleaning while waiting to get dispatched.
Now the truck fails to start... I notify the shop and they say they will look into it but too busy right now. after 4 hours of waiting I get a call from dispatch telling me I need to go get a load but try to explain my situation... it didn't matter, I was still dispatched. My qualcomm was lit up with the load.
after 6 hours finally some scruffy, stoned looking dude shows up at truck. Turned out it's the battery(which I suspected all along)
He takes the old batteries out and disappears for 2 hours... finally shows back up with different batteries.
Truck starts right up!
Now it's 10 PM at night because I wasted all day at shop waiting on these monkey's at the shop and I have to be 300 miles to pick up this load at 7am. I've been up since yesterday and exhausted but I don't want to be late to shipper so I head out... this is where fun begins..

When I start to drive truck, the autoshift wouldn't shift properly... it would struggle to go in gear or just stay in 4th gear. SO I turn around and head back to shop. I tell them the issue and told to hang on, "we will get to you in a min". A minute turns in an hour... I start to get agitated because this waiting around crap has been going on ALL [censor]ING DAY and they aren't that busy! just LAZY!
Sooo I go inside shop(again) only this time I demand they look at this issue because I have to be somewhere in a couple of hours and need to go.

they look at it and tell me just to hit it a little bit while shaking it into the drive position until it shifts(WTF?) also told that after truck warms up it should shift more smoothly. I was told, "nothing wrong with this truck, you just need to know how to drive it"
What the hell so I'm suppose to hit and shake it until gear? then let it warm up? Whata bunch of [censor].

i'll write more later, too pissed now from this bad experience...

Avoid this Scam at all costs!

The Driver Solutions was a joke. The instructors stood around smoking cigarettes all day and [censor]ting about mindless drivel that had nothing to do with operating a commercial vehicle. Not much instruction going on. We had more smoke breaks than Teamster employees. AND I don't even smoke! BUT was forced to stand around, waiting for them to smoke. What a waste of time! Somehow, I passed.

When we got to the driving range the instructor would yell at us all the time. One of the guys was having trouble shifting on the highway and our instructor began yelling from the passenger seat, calling him a Dumb-[censor] and would kick it in the right gear from the passenger seat. ALL of this happened on a BUSY Highway as we were entering. Myself and 2 other students sat in the back in shock watching all this. Anytime anyone struggled with a gear he would Kick it in the right gear, followed by profanity. He almost kicked my hand once... very dangerous and unstable behavior, especially on a public highway. I Guess driver solutions hire anyone to train, even sociopaths and nut-jobs. ALL The instructors had issues and seemed angry, pissed off about life in general.

Needless to say, no one wanted to drive after that but we had too. Some how, I passed the driving test because I didn't learn a damn thing about trucking, other than shifting... I couldn't even back up- well not straight anyway.

So now I wait at home for 2 weeks for PAM to send a driver to train me/pick me up. He finally gets here at 10pm 2 weeks later and tells me we have to be somewhere by 5am.

He was a nice guy but very overweight and smelly. He talked nonstop and smoked like a freight train. He also had a abundance of "piss" bottles strewn all over the floor.

After driving for 10-11 hours a day then he would drive. Sometimes I would driver 12-16 hours a day because he would change up the log books to make it look legit and tell me I need practice... yeah right... he was lazy and would rather talk on phone all day in his bunk while I drive.

I would try to sleep but couldn't because the truck was always in motion.. many times hitting the shoulder because he would FALL ASLEEP! I was a nervous wreck.. Never had decent sleep and started looking like a zombie and malnourished. He would also play music, horrible crappy music loud while I lay there in the back trying to sleep.
ONE time I had to pee and he tells me, he doesn't have time to stop so just empty a bottle outside the window and piss in it because we were behind schedule(I [censor] you not)...

After I drive my [censor] off all day, he would stop at every truck stop jacking around, buying more fast food, cigarettes or trying to hook up with the cashier of every pilot truck stop. So then our load would get behind schedule.
I didn't mind him jacking around at the truck stops because I could take a [censor] and then sleep good for 30-45 mins while the truck was parked in a fuel isle while he screws around inside the truck stop.

These money hungary schools don't care and they will not better themselves because it would cut into their profits. The only way to make them better is to make them dissapear and make the companies do their own training. Warn anyone about how badly they treat people, they treat you as if you were an animal.

OTR28, you are one of the lucky ones that happened to be in the right place at the right time (almost like winning a lottery). {Did you have prior driving experience before you went to C1?} Some trainers may not be that bad. However, for me (and a friend that was also terminated by PAM), (IT HAPPENS MORE OFTEN THAN IT DOESN'T) my trainer consistently yelled at me, texted while he was driving, did not train me adequately in certain areas (like backing). Further, he recommended that I upgrade when he knew I personally was not quite ready yet. It didnt help that he was money hungry for a bonus for my upgrade and PAM was eager to get me on the road to make money for them (also a financial motivation). Likewise, I did not speak up because of my sense of urgency to make money to pay on my one year contract with Driver Solutions. So PAM bypassed safety and good judgment and allowed me to upgrade. Hence, the incidents occurred which I spoke of in prior comments.
I am not wanting to close down PAM or other trucking companies. Nor am I trying to shut off the relationship with Driver Solutions and C1 schools. What I am a proponent of is trying to get these companies to better train their drivers and keep them employed over the long haul. Right now, they do not seem to care if recent graduates are not trained right. Driver Solutions wants their money, and PAM just wants drivers. If these drivers mess up and its not too serious, then their philosophy is that they just can them and move on.
This hinders people that are trying to make it in the industry and makes money for an enterprise like Driver Solutions who gets paid for their training irregardless of whether the driver endures through a one year contract.
This treatment and philosophy must stop. I am still hoping that individuals and prominent officials will step up and join me in trying to change that rapid nature new drivers are trained and thrust into driving to complete a one year contract. Mark my words, and let there be no misunderstanding, that the first time a little child or adult is injured or killed as the result of this training, I will be somber but look into your eyes and tell all of you that would not listen or do anything about it that "I TOLD YOU THIS WOULD HAPPEN!"

OK PEOPLE JUST READ A FEW OF THE COMPLAINTS ON HERE AND I'D HAVE TO DISAGREE. FIRST OF ALL I WENT TO C1 IN INDIANAPOLIS, GOT MY CDL AND SPENT A WEEK AT HOME WAITING FOR A TRAINER, I GOT ON A TRAINERS TRUCK AND IN A MONTH I WAS ON MY OWN AND RUNNING GOOD, NOW MY FIRST TRUCK WAS A BEAT UP POS BUT WHAT YOU NEW DRIVERS HAVE TO REALIZE IS YOUR NOT GONNA GET A NICE TRUCK STARTING OUT, MOST NEW DRIVERS HAVE ACCIDENTS IN THERE FIRST COUPLE OF MONTHS, WHY RISK THAT TO A NEW TRUCK, SOME DRIVERS DO GET NEWER TRUCKS BUT IT'S LUCK OF THE DRAW. I DROVE THAT TRUCK FOR A YEAR AND RETIRED IT AND GOT A BRAND NEW ONE, I'VE BEEN HERE 6 YEARS AND AM CURRENTLY IN MY 4TH BRAND NEW TRUCK, A GOOD SAFETY RECORD AND HARD WORK PAYS OFF. AS FOR THE LADY WHOSE HUSBAND GOT SCREWED AND SPENT 6 WEEKS IN TRAINING OR FOR ANYBODY ELSE THINKING OF WORKING FOR 8PAM I HAVE PERSONALLY NEVER HEARD OF SUCH THINGS NOT TO SAY IT DOESN'T HAPPEN BUT AS A TRAINER I CAN TELL YOU THAT 4 WEEKS IS THE MINIMUM AMOUNT OF TIME A TRAINEE IS TO BE ON THE TRUCK, TRAINING IS 4-6 WEEKS THE RECRUITING FOLKS ALWAYS SAY 4 AND THAT'S WHAT YOU NEW DRIVERS THINK, IF YOU ARE KEPT FOR LONGER THAN 4 WEEKS IT IS BECAUSE YOUR TRAINER WASN'T COMFORTABLE WITH YOUR SKILLS AND DIDN'T FEEL YOU WAS READY, I'VE BEEN HERE 6 YEARS AND MADE A NICE LIVING PAM ISN'T AS BAD AS THEY ARE PORTRAYED, ALL COMPANY'S ARE ABOUT THE SAME

I, for one, have continued to lobby against Driver Solutions and their relationship with C1 Schools, but more specifically the training PAM and these other companies give their drivers and the speed in which they are thrown out there.
I filed a complaint with the BBB in Indianapolis, and, I guess Driver Solutions ran scared and they FORGAVE the amount of tuition I was obligated for. If others would pursue this same path, then there will be a lot of pressure on them to change their methods and training.
I refuse to be content until these frailties are addressed. I have only begun to climb the steep mountain, but I am confident I will persevere.

The original post is dead on for how this school operates. Dont bother looking at the BBB, they have paid thier dues to get a good rating.

PLEASE TAKE MY ADVICE STAY AWAY FROM THESE RIP OFF ARTIST'S. THEY DON'T CARE ABOUT YOUR WELFARE, THEY ONLY WANT TO MAKE MONEY FROM YOUR MISERY.

If I could do it all over again, I would have not sought to get my CDL through Driver Solutions even if it meant they were furnishing the funds to allow me to do it. I would never have gone with PAM Transport because their training is subpar and I am looking for safety issues to continue to pop up. Someone will get hurt or killed or property will continue to get damaged.
I will continue to back this cause until I am assured corrective action has been taken. I have written the Arkansas Governor's office, the Arkansas Attorney General, the media, as well as the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration. I wish for everyone who has felt wronged by Driver Solutions and PAM Transport along with other trucking companies to contact these entities as well as the Better Business Bureau.
My CDL is usesless now and I will continue to fight for much needed changed. The way to go is to save your money and go to a technical school that offers a significant truck driver training course. You will be much better off.

Wow, ...I need a CDL but I dunno if I want to risk being another statistic. I know that surely everyone does not have this bad of a time with em but it seems as though its somewhat of a gamble. Do I feel lucky? LOL!

To sas dog: I hear all kinds of stories like yours. It is very disappointing and disturbing. If you are like me, you worked so hard for your CDL and then, in the blink of an eye and through circumstances beyond your control, your CDL is tarnished and all you want to do is to work hard to make a living.
If you have a choice of going with PAM, some other company, or even pursuing further education through a school or technical institute, I would encourage the latter move.
However, if you are in a position where you can start working, I would be very diligent and make an adequate assessment prior to any decision you make in the trucking industry. There are good companies and bad; in my opinion, PAM is just one of the not so good companies out there for a variety of reasons. I suppose if you keep your nose clean, and LICK TAIL, you will be okay. If not, then your tenure there will not be worth it and short lived.
Any one that would have lack of sensitivity to training like they do, do not really care about driver welfare but only about money. Please review the comments I have posted here and at TheTruckersReport.com. I am sure they will be enlightening.
Please make a deliberate decision considering all factors, and I wish you the best in your employment endeavors. Finally, please help me get the word circulated that the process between Driver Solutions and other trucking companies and their training and methods need to be changed before someone really gets hurt.

Well, i was considering going on with PAM transport thru driver solutions, but im reading more bad reports than good ones. so im not sure its a good idea, know dis much i drove for swift bout 4 yrs ago and it was one problem after another for. went to orientation in Lancaster, tx passed road test, no problem and immediately got in a trk with trainer. everything was allright during my training. my trainer was nice. did my 6 wks, took 3 days of home time then got assigned my own trk. it was junk, the idle control did not work. my 2nd time out as solo i was sent to new york and while at customer a schieder driver walks up to me and accuses me of hitting his trk and then called my company (which i didnt) expecting me to pay for his trk, i dont think so. then my 2nd load i picked it up in syracuse to go into canada, hers the fun, besides getting caught in a blizzard, after i dropped my load going in and picked up another to go to california. one sat nite i stopped at a crappy [censor] truckstop, sub zero temps. i had to sleep in the lobby because my inter idle wasent working and i freeze in that trk, well i got sunday morning at 1 to head out and get back to the states, well the trk wouldnt start. later i called on road no answer and kept calling all day. monday my phone was dead(had no way to charge) had to use their phone to call my wife collect and have her call my drvr mngr to notify him. he called the truck stop and finally they got my trk hauled to freightliner and set me a hotel rm. and they got the trk fixed finally. i headed out again all was fine til i got to the border, here we go again. this time swift had not gave all papers to come back into us. so i layed over again. next day bout 3pm a guy named mark at detroit terminal got it all straigthend out and that nite i was back in the usa. took my load onto california everything went smooth dropped load and got a beer load to t call in larado, tx, got to fuel stop and myt fuel card was not activated, another 3 hr delay. got that fixed and went on to laredo. after all that things went ok for a couple of months. i got to new mexico and swift routed me on a unsafe highway. i got pulled over and got ticket for overlenght of vehicle. one in virginia for overweight of axles, which they would not slide and then had to get that fixed (the trlr was junk) . smoothed out again until this idiot smartass that accused me of hitting his trk in new york caused me to roll my trk over in colorado and i was fired while in the damn hospital and a cop comes in the hospital and hands me a ticket for careless driving while im in deep pain and strapped to a board. this driver is an unsafe driver(schieder boy) accused me of hitting his trk and then causes me to wreck could have killed me. he needs to get off the road before he kills somebody. i tried to get unemployment and swift fought me every step of the way and i didnt get [censor].

I spoke to Driver Soloutions in Ft. Wayne Indiana, after serving 6 years in the U.S. Army. I recieved a General Discharge with full Honorable Conditions. Three days before starting school, they call to tell me that I will not be attending school because I didn't have an Honorable Discharge. I am an Operation Iraqi Freedom Veteran, having served 15 months in Baghdad, and I got this [censor] telling me that my service wasn't good enough to drive a damn semi for their company. I was so pissed off, I called the Better Business Bureau, and reported them for discrimination among prior service men and women. I also had a nice lengthy chat with my Congressman about the matter.
Seven days after meeting with my Congressman, C1 called me inviting me to join their next class...I made a bold decision, by telling them to shove their school up their [censor]...Driver Soloutions is a joke, and so is anyone who works for them...nothing but crooks, and non supporters of the U.S. Military Veterans...to hell with them!

I likewise was taken by C1 and Driver Solutions about 10 years ago. I had such a bad experience that I left the industry for a few years. Since then, I contacted Roadmaster and had a much more enjoyable experience. I was offered quite a few a companies to pick from, CR England, FFE, CRST, and U.S. Xpress to name a few. I worked for U.S. Xpress for about two years, and made more money then the recruiter said I could make. I ran a dedicated route, home every night, and worked with reasonable equipment. If you find the right company, driving can be a great career. Unfortunately, most people fall into these traps with PAM or Star and leave the industry thinking that this is how all companies are.
I will say this to a few that have posted here. I agree, when I have a turn signal out on my car, I get it fixed ASAP, because I don't want a ticket. On a truck, not so much, I get it fixed as time allows. If I stop at a truckstop for a break, and I remember its out, I'll run in, pick one up and fix it. Turn in my receipts to the company and its done, 15 mins to fix a problem that I see many take hours at the shop to handle. Same with the AC units or other electrical issues, check the fuses, don't be such a girl about fixing stuff if you can. Buy a small tool box with tools and repair minor things if you can. Be sure to check the things that could lead to a long wait at the shop later like oil, tires, belts, hoses and get those fixed quick. The less time your in the shop, the more time you can be moving and making money.
If you happen to get pulled over for a turn signal or a light being out, play dumb and explain it just went out, because it was fine when you did you pretrip. Save yourself unwanted tickets.

To aetsen and others adversely affected by Driver Solutions, PAM, and/or other trucking companies:
If you review my comment to the complaint here and at TheTruckersReport.com, I was really burned by PAM Transport and Driver Solutions. Please review these comments and if you have problems accessing them, please contact me directly at franktigue@yahoo.com.
Apparently, they have some "Lifetime Employment Assistance" program for those that couldn't "handle" the OTR trucking job. My argument all along is that Driver Solutions (as a broker and as a party to the contract) has an absolute obligation to see that we are trained to get our CDL. However, it is much more than that. They are under an absolute obligation to see that the training is adequate by the trucking companies because it is through our employment that they are going to receive the monies supposedly due them. Still, a woman in a placement position there has been trying to help but has only given me a few places to apply. I believe it is up to them to be more diligent in helping people like me or their contract should be rendered impossible to perform.
I would encourage people to contact media, local state and national politicians, their Governor's office, the state Attorney General's office, as well as their Better Business Bureau to lodge the appropriate complaint. That is what I felt compelled to do.
Please contact me if you need to. I am hoping to start an intense movement supported by a multitude of people who have been wronged, in order to change the way this brokering, training, and employment is undertaken. We worked hard for our CDLs and we should enjoy the immediate lasting benefits as a result of pursuing this license. Let me hear your story (franktigue@yahoo.com).

I was going to work for USA truck through drivers solutions. Then 1 day before I was going to go out on the truck USA said they were dropping me and would not give me a reason. Said they could not because of privacy policies, so I can not know info about myself... So I call up swift and get on with them on my own. Now Drivers Solutions is calling me wanting payment for [censor]ing me over. I told them to go after USA for the 4k they owe for the contract they signed to give me employment. They say they cant do that. Funny how they deny any affiliation with USA, PAM, and CRST. When I was at USA for orientation the drivers recruiters offices for Drivers Solutions was right next door... But now when Drivers Solutions calls they try to deny they are owned by USA such [censor]ing liars. DO NOT USE DRIVERS SOLUTIONS! Even trucking companies said they would like to help me cause DS is [censor]ing people over. There needs to be a CLASS ACTION SUIT and it needs to be NOW. This needs to stop before they can [censor] over anymore people.

I trained through Driver Solutions and drove almost 3 years for P.A.M. First of all, you will not earn anywhere near what is promised in the recruitment ads. I was away from home 26 days per month on average and still could make no more than $34K. I started at 28 cents per mile and ended at 33, but as the mileage pay increased I was given fewer and fewer paid miles. The equipment was not well-maintained and it was not uncommon to spend 4 or 5 days at a shop awaiting repairs. Most of the lounges and shower facilities were undesirable. At the Irving, Texas shop there was no separate restroom or shower for women drivers. Some dispatchers and planners were friendly and supportive but all too many were coercive and vindictive. If you doubt anything I'm saying, go to a truck stop and talk with a few P.A.M. drivers.
