Diamond Resorts - property theft & customer service

My sister and I took our sons there summer 2009. My son left $800 worth of video games in rarely used kitchen cabinet. When I called I kept getting VM of Amy Clark. Was eventually informed she was out of office and would get back to me next day. NO ONE ELSE at resort would help me. By time I received any contact the items were supposedly gone.
I believe the video games were stolen by housekeeping. NO RESOLUTION offered by resort and their home offices are even worse.
Crappy customer service and NO sense of urgency. Brainless employees; brilliant scam.
I would sleep in the street before I ever patronize Diamond Resorts anywhere. I am also quite happy to share my experiences with others.
After being subject to sales pitch for 2.5 hours the RUDENESS with which they treat those who are too smart to buy is amazing. The dying son story along with the others are right out of the playbook. Plus the sales staff are rude and wouldn't even allow my family access to me. I loathe diamond resorts, not worth extra key strokes to capitolize.
I pity anyone who is foolish enough to buy into or stay at any diamond resort, anywhere.

(you do not own real property anymore you signed over your DEED to an Irrevocable Trust Owned and managed by DRI they sugar coated it so it was easy to swallow at the time)

Yup! there seems to be a lot of Points Owners are just jumping ship, taking the hit your deed is gone anyway or you can continue to pay until 2054 or your dead or damn near dead. I believe those are your current options (March 30th 2011) from what I understand, but I can not speak on behalf of DRI perhaps they have further options to exit their points program.

Now if your fortunate enough to be part of the UK collection DRI is piloting (or was, who knows with these guys) a buy back program through one channel, hmmm nothing fishy there...

I believe DRI is also available to speak on this OPEN FORUM Discussion.

I am with you Isa. I purchased in Las Vegas with Epic Resorts in 2001, then Sunterra bought them 3 months later and then Diamond Resorts took over. We got hit with an assessment, then our fees are outrageous. I took my 'points' in the CLUB (I used to have deeded property, I still can't figure out how the deed got out of MY name) and got the best week I could at 15 of the DRI properties. I then went online and looked up a rental at the same resort, same room layout and EVERY TIME it was cheaper to just rent the place outright. So tell me, how does that save me money? I used to also be able to "bank" with Interval and now you have to do an exchange on the spot. I don't like that since I can't 'bank' up 2 weeks at a time and take my family/friends with me. My best vacation was when I used 1 banked week and my then current year week and got 2 2-BR condos in Cabo San Lucas...there was 5 of us and we had a blast. I can't do that anymore and that was an awesome way to maximize my weeks. (Oh, I *CAN* still do that with my BLUEGREEN time share and CAN bank with RCI...)
And that's it too, I am not some grossly unhappy time share owner that didn't know what they got into, I am a time share owner that completely feels scammed by DRI. I LOVE LOVE LOVE my Bluegreen Timeshare and love the flexibility of using it (And they bank your unused points for you at the end of the year, you don't have to call in by June 30!) They are very customer focused where as DRI is very $$$$ focused and have forgot it's us customers that got them there...well, I for one am leaving...whether they like it or not!

Well guess what Mrs. Reason,

Everything that is wrong with the world is IN MY OPINION what is wrong with Diamond Resorts. It is called the love of money and it is said to be the root of all evil. I am not saying a ligitamate resort management company should not make an honest buck providing real services. But the math is not adding up on special assesments and the hefty fees charged without any real accountablility. Hiding behind legal logic DRI is fleecing its members and apearantly Mrs. Patricia Reason thinks only the sheep need to take personal responsiblity, what about ethical and moral responsability Mrs. Reason.

So you were stupid enough to forget the video games, and they were supposedly worth $800 (yeah right), and you never mentioned what time you called or how long after you left that you informed them of the video games. Nothing was stolen from you, the housekeeper who gets paid minimum wage found it and kept it as a tip. Good for her! Here is a tip for you...Take some f***ing personal responsability and top blaming DIAMOD RESORTS (and everyone else) for your incompetence.

Post a complain with the WATCHDOG

HERE'S HOW TO CONTACT WATCHDOG
you go to http://www.bbc.co.uk/watchdog/gotastory and select Holidays, then Timeshare in the dropdown boxes. Then it's just your name and address, email and a brief note of your concern. In the 'when did the problem start' you can enter the year you first started having problems or the year you stopped paying fees.

Do something besides post/vent (I know posting is good therapy for me) The DRIP group is one of the largest groups of like minded folks tired of the fleecing we get year after year from DRI. Lets look at it like this; if you do not do something and still expect change you are part of the problem. If you want to do your part to create change then why not NOW every day that passes us by is one day closer to next years maintenance fleece uh I mean fees. No time like NOW to do what is right. The more individuals gather the loader our voice.

I heard on the Clark Howard show what a ripoff timeshares are, especially Diamond Resorts. Instead of just blogging and venting on websites, which is a good way to inform the public and release some steam, people MUST contact the Federal Trade Commission, their Attorney General and the Better Business Bureau. Do that over and over until someone takes notice! Even better, urge your local tv stations to do a piece on these ripoff timeshare companies and watch the complaints and responses from other victims flood in! We cannot be our own best advocate without first taking the proper and informative steps to do so!

Welcome to the world of DRI! I think you will find that a lot of other people feel the same as you do! When a company is prepared to rip off pensioners and harrass the sick, infirm and bereaved for their ever increasing management fees, I would have been very surprised had they shown any interest in your problem! It seems that at all levels in this company theft and dishonesty are part of the culture and are endemic!
