RE: FORMAL COMPLAINT – FAILURE TO UPDATE BUSINESS NATURE & EXCESSIVE CHARGES
I am writing to express my ongoing frustration and deep dissatisfaction with the handling of our request to change the nature of our business, which we have been pursuing since 2020. Despite continuous follow-ups and even hiring an agency to assist with the process, we have yet to see any meaningful action. Each time we are told the matter is being “escalated,” yet nothing changes. Meanwhile, we are unable to submit new returns, and the interest on the originally disputed amount has ballooned due to inaction on your side. To clarify once again: we are not a construction company. We operate a Mechanical Laboratory. This has been communicated several times, supported with photographs and documentation. We are more than willing to accommodate a site inspection — please feel free to send your representatives at any time to verify our operations. To highlight the absurdity of the charges we’re facing: Our lab has fewer employees, yet we’re being charged R177,830.72, a number grossly inflated due to misclassification and added penalties. I n comparison, MTL, a similar lab with 30 employees, pays approximately R15,000.00 annually — a fair and realistic figure based on their actual operations. The current charges are baseless and reflect a complete lack of regard for the facts and evidence we have provided over the years. This level of negligence is unacceptable, and the burden of this error must no longer fall on us. We demand the following: Immediate correction of our business classification to reflect that we are a Mechanical Laboratory, not a construction company.
A full reassessment and reversal of all charges based on the incorrect classification. Clearance to resume our return submissions without penalty or delay. If this matter is not resolved within seven (7) working days, we will be forced to escalate this to higher authorities and consider legal channels. We trust this issue will finally receive the urgent attention it has long required.
