In September 2022 I was looking to do something special for my wife, so I decided to have a custom jewelry piece made as a standing Rose. As I was researching I came upon CustomJewelry.com. I explained what I was wanting crafted and sent a design idea. I was looking at spending around $5k initially. A representative contacted me and we started discussing the project. After researching their company I decided to go further. I was sent a quote for $6k and a request for 25% down to begin the project. I questioned the $6k regarding materials and labor and the representative sent me the amount of stones, gold & labor along with cost for the design we discussed extensively. I agreed to the proposal and sent a $2000.00 deposit to get the project started. As soon as the company received my $2000.00 deposit the representative sent me an email stating that the creator/owner wanted to set up a phone call with me. I accepted and this is where the ordeal starts. I get on the phone with creator/owner and he tells me that the design will actually take double the materials and labor than I was quoted. So basically they get my deposit and immediately change the entire scope of the project on me. Well I listen to what he had to say and I explained that was not what I was quoted. The creator/owner convinces me that he can still make a beautiful piece and he convinced me to go up in price about an additional $1000.00. Since then the creator/owner raised the cost on me two more times until we got to about $8000.00 on the same design. Our last phone conversation in the beginning of December I decided to add a center ruby in the middle of the rose, the creator/owner and I agreed on $9000.00 with the center ruby. December 25th the creator/owner finally sends me the 3D cad design to show me what it will look like and gave the ok. Now in Jan 2023 (4 months later) I receive an email from his representative that the creator/owner wants to speak with me before going further. Well, I knew what that meant because for 4 months every time I received an email that the creator/owner wants to speak he changes the price on me again. When I finally decided to reply I explained that there is no need for a call if he thinks he will increase the cost "again". The creator/owner then emails me back stating the cost of materials has gone up. To summarize 10 months ago I made an agreement with this company based on the quote they sent. I sent them a $2000.00 deposit, soon as they received my deposit the creator/owner raises the cost to double what I was quoted and basically we start back over with half the materials I was quoted. For months they continued raising the cost on me based on the same original design I sent in the beginning. I tried to leave a review yet it seems I can't. The review column states "reviews from paying customers". I contacted them and asked for access to leave a review because considering they have $2000.00 of my money I am a paying customer. I explained that they can return my deposit "or" give me access to leave a review. Since then the creator/owner has attempted to justify the last 10 months of nonsense he has dragged me through. Continued to try getting me on the phone to talk me into increasing the price, will not give me access to leave a review on his site and will not answer me as to whether he will refund my $2000.00. I truly believe they purposely sent me the original quote in which they knew was only half the cost they would expect in order to get me to agree and send the $2k deposit. This way the creator/owner could get me "hooked" so to speak in order to just keep justifying increasing cost until he got me to the price he knew it would actually be all along. I understand that sometimes a mistake can be made, however someone who has been in business 30years as the creator/owner states in not going to make a 50% "mistake". So if they will not let me leave a review on their site and will not refund my deposit that they received under false presences I decided the BBB was the next best route. I just want everyone to know how this company works. It's a shame that I was trying to do something nice for my wife and 10 months later all I have to show for $2000.00 is a 3D design (picture) they sent. Not to mention Dec 25th I was supposed to have the actual product for my wife... not a picture of it.
