This review was chosen algorithmically as the most valued customer feedback.

The same thing happened to me... I was getting the payments taken out of my checking account. I called proactive to cancel my subscription and they said everything was cancelled including the vitamins. However, then 3 months later I received 3 overdraft payments from my bank. Proactive didn't end up canceling the vitamins... apparently they are not even the same company... I ended up having to pay $200 in overdraft charges from my bank and still have never received the rest of the vitamins I payed for... I am disgusted with the whole situation... Something needs to be done about this...

Just call up the vitaclear [protected] and be as hateful as you can be. These people won't cancel it until you are practically cursing at them. If all else fails, ask for a manager and bring up that you have an attorney involved and are more than willing to take action. It worked for me. Also, refuse all of the packages.

just call your bank or credit card company and request to cancel the card you used to purchase this product. its a rip off and they will continue to withdraw from your account. also complain to the Better Business Bureau.

So I called to cancel my VitaClear stuff a little over 44 days ago, and so far have not received another charge. The vitamins are overpriced though, a pain to swallow all of them, and slightly upset my stomach. Not as bad as the One a Days, though. I'm very sensitive to vitamins and most upset my stomach except for Centrum chewable vitamins. I'm such a kid, lol.

I was looking for the number to cancel and it couldn't find it anywhere but here, [protected] is the number I just called, they ask for your name and zip code and cancel it for you, so hopefully I won't get anymore shipments, if I do I'll write on this blog again to let people know.

I also got the vitamins from the proactive trial. This is such a rip off! I received 2 charges to my credit card and I didnt even agree to purchase the product! The way I got the # to cancel, I was online reviewing my credit card statement and they had it posted there. I had searched the box and the material that came with the trial and found no way to contact them. I have called and let me tell you their customer serive is AWFUL! First you steal my money, then you get rude with me? The lady said it is cancelled now, but we'll see since I've been reading these reviews. I guess I'll have to call everyday to make sure! Proactive is great, but I think it is very wrong for them to give your information to someone else who is "not related to them by any means". Phone # is [protected] in case anyone needs it!

Yeah, I ordered the vitamins with Proactiv. I decided to do some research online to compare them to the GNC ones and Centrum and all of these complaints popped up on my Google search. I freaked out! I had ordered my vitamins a week ago and called to cancel even before I received the order. The rep was really nice and assured me his call center in Florida had different practices than others and my phone call was answered promptly. Anyway, I did not get a cancellation number but I got some cancellation info--location of center, time, name of rep, etc. Now I'm watching my credit card account like a hawk. If I get charged I am going to not only report them to the Better Business Bureau but also dispute the charge with my credit card company.

When I called the number [protected] they were prompt and polite about cancelling. However, be careful when you cancel--they don't tell you that they will charge you twice for the last shipment because they will send it in a two months supply box!

I guess i was kinda stupid in not realising that the pills were added on to the price of your Pro-activ kit. The kit i am happy with, after suffering with acne for years and going through bunches of prescribed drugs and creams this stuff has really helped calm my problem and i don't think the monthly price is unreasonable for the effect i get. But the vitamins i can get cheaper at a local store with the same stuff in them. I thought they were a one off freebie thing.

But all is well, i called the number that at least two people have given on this site and didn't even have to wait in those stupid electronic cues. Was answered and when i said i wanted to cancel she gave no argument just wanted my info and why i canceled and that was that. Being charged the extra for not reading the small print is my fault. And teaches me to be more careful with what I'm signing up for in the future.

They are doing the same thing to me. I have called them for 3 month in a row and told them each time to cancel all other orders and payments. I have stop getting my vitamins, but they still keep charging my credit card. Every month I have to call and fight with them to get my money back. Something should be done about this company.

Well here goes,

I recieved the product, and shortly three days later... I RECIEVED ANOTHER BOX!

So I went online and saw all the complaints on this site! I decided that I wouldn't know whether or not proactive was working for me even if I took these pills! So I called for two reasons, 1) I want to know why I recieved two boxes so quickly 2) I want to cancel my subscribtion.

GUESS WHAT?

For some reason I had TWO accounts and BOTH boxes were free samples! The guy told me that the company hasnt sent any new boxes, so i wont be charged for a new box. He also said that he would cancel both my accounts... lol he sounded sooo exhausted and kinda like he couldn't care less for the company or me. So he cancelled both of them. I asked him if I should return both free samples and he said no because they are free and regardless of whether I return them i will still be charged three dollars for shipping. He said the best idea was to keep it, he said that I would not recieve any new box because it isnt on record and if I do get a box, he told me to immediatly return it! his name was kevin and he said that if anything I could transfer my call to his! Well I'm really happy cuz now I have two boxes that I will use, and for once the company that screws everyone over, just got screwed back!

(btw I have no idea how I ended up with two accounts lol!)

I also was caught up in the vita clear vitamins/ proactive web. I ordered the proactive so long ago that I am not sure if I really ordered the vitamins or not but I doubt it. When I cancelled the proactive, I was not told that I would have to also cancel the vitamins separately. So after reading the phone numbers on this site, I called and was probably on hold for 2 minutes before a very nice person from customer service answered. The whole process took about 5 minutes. Now I will just have to wait to see if any more show up at the house and on my bill.

This is how you contact VitaClear/ Guthy Renker.
Vita Power is a member of the Guthy-Renker family, but is located at another seperate customer service center. You may contact them at [protected] or by email at grnvitamins@cpu2.com.
Unlike the reviews I just read here, I absolutely love this product and found it was plain & clear that I was agreeing to monthly shipments of the product when I ordered the free trial. You see... I know how to read!
I have found that while taking VitaClear my chronic cystic acne is clearing up much faster than before, I have more energy, and I feel great! It's also way cheaper than the vitamins my dermatologist would have me take. His are $160.00 for a 1 month supply, and they don't seem to work as well either. VitaClear is a great product for a great price... yes shipping is a tad slow, but worth the wait. I have not had the problems w/ customer service, bc I haven't tried to cancel...why would I?

I have had the same problems. I stupidly ordered the sample with Proactive. When I went back to the Proactive web site, there was no subscription to VitaClear listed so I figured I had misread what I ordered and that it would be a one time thing. Well, then I received more in the mail, but since there was no receipt or paperwork of any kind, I wrongly thought it must be some kinda extended free offer. Added to my bad habit of not reading my credit card statement closely enough, it has taken months to realize I was being charged over $30 a month for this stuff that I don't use! I have called the number on the outside of the box multiple times and have been on hold up to 30 minutes with no answer. Finally I got ahold of them at 1am tonight. All I wanted was to be able to cancel future orders and return all unused product. They said I could only return the previous shipment. When I asked how they could keep charging for a product without giving me any type of receipt, she said it was part of the subscription info given at purchase of proactive. This was a long time ago, so I asked how I could see it now. I can't seem to get to it through Proactive (maybe cause I'm already a member and can't pretend to re-subscribe?), so I asked if she could send me a copy and SHE HUNG UP ON ME! This company is very shady and incredibly unprofessional. While I have no complaints with the Proactive product, I may cancel purely on grounds that they would encourage business with a company that so many people have problems with. I have also filed a complaint with better business bureau... all I want is to return unused product. Doesn't seem like to much to ask!

To start, Guthy Renker aka; Proactive/Vitaclear is a member of the Better Business Bureau. I suggest filing a complaint especially given there are so many issues with this. Additionally, if a consumer has requested a cancelation it is my opinion that they are withdrawing unauthorized funds. I too have had the same issue as the other postings. If no one complains about them, they will continue to manipulate consumers. I myself am filing a complaint today. Their contact info is:

I just called to cancel my order that i did not approve. they said i would be charged one more payment of 33.00 and it takes 4-6 weeks to get my return and process my return. we shall see. never again and i am suprised that pro-activ would sponsor that sort of nonsense.

Not only did I get my order super late but I only ordered ONE trial box from them to see if I liked it... and every single day I took them I would not only get light headed but I would not be able to keep anything down, even throwing up at work, I would get dizzy, headachy and very nosiated!

So obviously it wasn't working out, then the next thing I know I am getting charged for more! I tried to get a hold of Proactive since that was who it came through and they couldn't do anything about it and gave me this seperate email address that has yet to reply, now I got charged again for another box... which I haven't even recieved OR wanted! How do we get in contact with these people! HELP!

I think both Pro Activ and this other company have problems...

I tried canceling both of them, because I haven't been using the stuff and my acne went away with my own techniques...

They don't understand the word CANCEL! I told them I don't even use it... And all they can say is "so and so recommends it, have you been using it everyday, etc." Hello! I haven't been using it at all and my acne has been going away! Why would I need it!

Same thing happened with the company that makes vitaclear. I told them I don't want it no more... They ask if I want to postpone! I said no! I want to cancel. These people are annoying as hell... Whether it's proactiv itself or this other company vitaclear...

It sounds to me like they are desperate... They don't have as many customers as they say or they are losing a lot...

None of their products work... For me anyways. And I think there are more reasonable solutions to fighting acne... That are also more affordable...

For the closing note, I told the people I also want to cancel because it's expensive... They say it's very affordable for what you get... They are idiots...

BTW people. The number is on the box. Just call and cancel...

I have experience similar problems. I started my subscription to VitaPower through proactive. I cancel proactive a month later after receiving both. I was told by proactive that they would cancel both account. A month later I found a $73.69 charge on my account. I called Proactive again and they inform me that they can not stop the transaction from VitaPower. I then contacted my bank and to get information from the transaction. I called the number that was given and was told they would cancel it. In April, I called the same number to ask about a returns address. I got the address and requested to se if my account has been cancel. They said, I had an pending charge of $73.69 for my future shipment in mid April. To make a long story short, I got really heated and said some words that I rarely used.

Vitapower is a dishonest company that has little customer service skills. I will never recommend using this company to anyone in the future becuase I know of the headaches ithas cause simply to cancel.

I work for the CBS News affiliate in New Mexico and I am working on a story about Vita Clear and I need to talk to someone preferably from New Mexico who has been jipped by them.

The BBB has a number of complaints but I want to hear from consumers, it seems like there are plenty.
Please email me at annie.mccormick@krqe.com or call [protected] if you want to share your story.

Vita-clear is the worst company ever! I ordered proactiv without the vitamins. On my second proactiv shipment I decided to order the vitamins. Turns out "You are not able to do that" wtf?...So I got the number for the vitamins company. I was on hold for 15 mins nobody ever answered! I then got my house phone and called while I was still on hold on my cell phone. They answered on my house phone after 3 minutes. I was still on hold on my cell phone! It seems to me that they dont answere all the calls because they know how everyone is unhappy with their sevices! Anyways I had to make a new account (after cancelling my old one) to get the vitamins. So now I called proactiv back to verify my order of the new account and I have 2 accounts open! OMG! So i might get to shipments and be charged for them? I need help!

I am experiencing the same problem. My only complaint is that I did read the automatic shipment clause when I ordered the free sample. However, what the vitaclear offer does not state is that the vitamins are offered through another company and you cannot cancel shipments through Proactiv. I called Proactiv 2 weeks ago to cancel my account with them. I thought by cancelling my account with proactiv it would effectively take care of the Vitamins. Unfortunately it didn't. When my bank account was charged I contacted Proactiv and was then notified that the vitamins were sold through a different company. I also became very sick after taking the vitamins for 4 days. so I too have the free 30 day supply and 180 day supply of vitamins coming to my house.

For Mandy B., great information. However, you can lose the condescending attitude. I'm sure if half of these people were fully disclosed of where their product was coming from there would not be as many complaints on this bulletin as there are.

I haven't tried this product, and after reading your remarks I will not order it along with the rest of my Proactiv...HOWEVER I have numerous comments to make about angry people on here who let their irritation override logic.

#1) If you mail in a written cancellation, keep a copy and be sure to send it certified mail. This isn't pricey and it requires the recipient to sign for the letter. The signed card is then mailed back to you by the postal service. This provides you with solid proof that you did in fact cancel. You stating that you sent something won't hold up in a legal dispute, but physical proof will.

#2) The statement regarding Vitaclear on the Proactiv website states "When you order, you'll automatically be registered to receive a fresh 60-day supply of VitaClear vitamins every two months and you'll lock in the special low price of just $29.95 plus $3.99 s&h a month. " This clearly states that orders are placed in 2-month increments, with $29.95 being charged for each of the 2 months. For the person who said that having a disclaimer doesn't make it legal: yes it does. That is the purpose of a disclaimer. And it's up to the consumer to be responsible for reading all information associated with an agreement. Admittedly, I don't always read everything--but if I'm hit with a surprise, it's clearly my fault for not reading the material given to me. If you are old enough to place credit card orders, then you are old enough to assume personal responsibilty as an adult. Crying "That's not fair" is no longer an effective argument past the toddler years.

#3) If two or more companies have the same owner, that doesn't mean that one can make decisions or take action on behalf of the other. There are many examples of this in the business world. Just one example: Victoria's Secret, C.O. Bigelow, Bath & Body Works, Henri Bendel, La Senza, and The White Barn Candle Co. are all owned by Limited Brands Inc. Would a person be able to take a Victoria's Secret bra into Bath & Body Works and receive a refund? Absolutely not. While owned by the same parent company, each of these brands are separate entities. Just as Proactiv and Vitaclear are.

#4) If personal responsibility is taken for a misunderstanding, a documented cancellation is submitted, and your credit card is charged again AFTER the last 60-day (2 payment) cycle is completed. Then and only then do you have an argument that would hold water in a legal argument. At this point you can submit a fraud claim with your bank, charges will be refunded and a new account number will be issued, and your bank will send you an affadavit for you to fill out and return. At this point you can send them a COPY of your cancellation claim and proof of receipt along with you personal statement--and voila!--all of this material will have dates and nothing can be disputed. The company would be held accountable for the charges and you will be free. No need to complain, no need to sue...when the proper steps are taken it can all be handled in a clean, simple, and professional matter. But then again if all terms of the agreement were read, then there might not even be a need to take these extra steps.

The whole point here is that when you use your credit card (in any manner) you are taking responsibility for it. Even if you fall for an Internet scam and get ripped off, yes it's illegal and wrong that these people did that to you, but YOU were the fool who handed over your information. So when a legitimate company lays out the terms of a purchase agreement, and you agree to the terms by handing over your information, it is you who is responsible.

Hopefully this helped some people understand the workings of business or the way to handle fraud issues, but at the very least I hope it gave people something to think about.

I just cancelled right now after hearing all this! I'm glad I was forewarned. I was going to cancel anyway, but give it a week or so but I just did it right now. That's crazy stuff! Also, the product make me feel like I'm going to throw up after I take them. I mean, within minutes. So I've stopped taking them anyway. How f@#&ed up!

It did take a few days to get a response but I finally just got an email back saying i will get my $67.88 back. and a sorry!

You all should do the same if you guys don't get results.

I called the [protected] number. They told me to return the unopened product to:

When you send it, request a receipt.

You still need to call them to cancel the account. They said they would reimburse my account once they receive the product.

I also tried to do the proactive trial and i'd always be charged way in advance of getting the actual product... so i cancelled my membership... i just go to the mall now and buy it... its cheaper there and you can pay cash they don't require it to be set up for monthly payments.

I had just got off the phone not even a minute ago after calling [protected]. I spoke with a rep named Oakiea (I even asked her to spell it just in case) and she told me that since their system is down, she would just have to take my name, address and phone number and relate that to her supervisor so that those guys in turn can put it into their system once it's back up. She said they would call me when it's done...

If they don't call me within a couple of days, I'm definitely calling back. Their system has been down for some time and it's only today that anyone can actually get through to customer service.

I ordered Proactiv in the end of December. After waiting 3 weeks to get it... it came... then 2 weeks after came the Vita Clear. I thought I'd try it out.. but they have made me very sick even eating large meals with them as well. So I called Proactiv to cancel... and now when I try to call the Vita Clear number, their systems are down and you can only email them. I do not want to get charged for this so I will be changing my debit card number TODAY after hearing everyones complaints. Hopefully I won't fall victim to this scam!

They told me it was a different company WTF. I want a refund for the 2 months of supplies that I DIDN'T touch. I'll try again tommorrow this time early like 8 am.
