K-Designers / Judson Enterprises Incomplete job

I hired k designers to replace the framing, trim, and windows.   The person the sent out cut through support beams and didn't replace any of the wood.  The windows were smaller by a couple inches than the area they were installed.  He didn't use shims and just used screws and made it fit.  When the wind blows it comes through the windows.   If there is wind when it's raining or snowing, rain and snow come through the windows.   None of the framing or interior trim was replaced.   These are the ugliest windows I've ever seen.  The product that was shown at the initial visit was not the product that was installed.   I had to go to work the day of the window work and left my boyfriend to stay at the house until the work was done.  The contract was with me not my boyfriend.   The contactor had told my boyfriend that he was not leaving until the papers were signed.  I work in long term care so leaving my job was not an option.   I wanted someone to come back to sign any end of project paperwork.   The guy bullied my boyfriend into signing the paperwork.  I had the windows done at the beginning of December and I have yet to see the project completed.  Phone calls to the local office is getting no where. I asked for a itemized receipt because I paid for wood work in addition to windows.  They refuse do finish the job. I was told that the framing and trim was the home owners problem even though I hired k designers to do that work.  This company is a big time scam.

Desired outcome: Work completed or refund

K-Designers / Judson Enterprises windows

i was approached by a k-designer rep to buy windows. i was so highly pressured and could not get rid of the sales person until i signed a contract for an outrageous amount of money. i am 82 and was so tired of his spiel that i could not get rid of him. he just plopped down at my table and would not leave until i signed to contract and then they had the audacity to call me and ask if i was sane enough to do a transaction. i feel they took advantage of an elderly person. i windows have not been installed yet and they threatened with putting a lean on my house. i waited until april and this was november and they never called or anything so i had another construction company get me windows. i waited 6 months and no windows. they want $10,000 for their windows and i got them with the other construction company for $2,600 installed.

Desired outcome: they can keep their windows and their high class pressure

K-Designers / Judson Enterprises Window and sliding door replacement

After a marketing representative visited us, we agreed to have our windows replaced. That was in December of 2020. Here it is almost July of 2021 and we are still waiting for our windows to be finished being replaced. It has been a nightmare. The project was supposed to take one day. They have been to our house 5 different times now with problems every time including the last time being here breaking 1 of the new windows they were putting in which is still installed and still broken. The problems began the 1st day of work. Wrong windows, Wrong measurements, wrong sliding doors, missing windows. The sliding glass doors were incorrectly ordered. we agreed to keep 1 and just switch out the way it opened to make things easier. It has just been a nightmare. We have called and called and called, usually getting no response, getting promises, setting appointments to come back and finish the project with no follow through. nobody shows up, there's no call, we take the day off to be here and we have no clue what's going on. The only benefit is that they told us we would not have to make a payment until the installation was complete and because it was never completed we have literally threaten to Sue them and forced K design to issue a check every month since December to make that payment because as soon as they got their money from the lender that's when all of the lack of communication started then never coming back to finish and they pretty much are done with us. The job still is not done and we're still waiting for the rest of our windows. I have never regretted a home improvement project more. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY.

Desired outcome: Give us what we paid for and get out of our lives. End this 7 month nightmare.

K-Designers / Judson Enterprises windows and siding

Several years ago we had new siding and windows done. We were very unhappy with the performance of the workers that the company sent to do the job. The job had to be done over because the first installation was done wrong. Windows were ordered in the wrong sizes and color, the wrong type of windows(they were for a stucco home, which we do not have) and instead of re ordering the correct kind, they tried altering them until we told them that we would not accept that and made them reorder. The dumpster that they ordered sat at our home for almost a month after they left. The mess they left around our home was horrendous with nails and pieces of siding, old scraps of wood, glass, cigarette butts, etc. 6 months later the siding started falling off! Confronting the company did no good. We spoke with other people who went thru their company and found that there were issues with almost all of them. We tried to ban together to fight them, spoke with the Better Business Bureau and the Attorney General, but got nowhere. We fought with them for almost 2 years, but we financed, so they had their money and were not interested in our complaints.
The breeze around our windows has been awful (worse than before the new windows) but they told us it had nothing to do with the windows or installation.
We've recently been remodeling and now we know why there was such a breeze coming from the windows... there is not a lick of insulation, spray foam or caulking anywhere. They used some shims and nails. Period. Once we removed the trim and casings from inside you can even see daylight in some places.
K-designers should be sued for the job they did here. Just look at the pictures! And this is only one room! If the windows in all the other rooms in our home are like this, it's no wonder our heating bill is so high. I'm angry all over again! Ugh!
K-Designers SUCKS!

K-Designers / Judson Enterprises Product

On 12-20-2015 I ordered an American Dream walk-in tub to be installed in my bathroom along with a bathroom upgrade. It took several months to get my tub and upgrade installed. After it was installed it was found that the tub was defective. The air function would not stay on past 10 minutes. A new tub was installed. At first the new tub had the same problem. After a number of service calls the problem seemed to be resolved. In November 2017 the problem re-occurred. The air function shut down on its own after about 10 to12 minutes of operation. So I called the local office of K-Designers. I was referred to "Sharon" in customer service and given the number [protected] ext. 6776. I then called Sharon an left word for her to call me back. I stated what my problem was and when I could be reached. I never heard back from her. On Tuesday January 8, 2018 I receive a call from K-Designers sales department. I told them I was not interested in doing any further business with K-Designers until the problem with my walk in tub was resolved. They then contacted Sharon's number again so I left the same information that I had previously left. She called me back at a time I could not be reached. So I called back and again had to leave a message as to when I could be reached. I called again on January 11, 2018 and explained my problem again and gave the time I could be reached. This time I stated that I would wait one week for a call to be returned at a time that I would be available. If this did not happen I stated that I would contact a product liability attorney and possibly file a suite against K-Designers. Sincerely, Dwight L. Kessler PS: My phone number is [protected]

K-Designers / Judson Enterprises Vinyl Siding Deceptive Sales Practices / Inferior Products

Stupidly, I filled out an online form to "receive a return call from the Alcoa Siding Warranty Specialist." My husband's dad had bought vinyl siding from Alcoa in the 80's, it's hideous, and I want it off our house ASAP! Alcoa was bought out by Ply Gem/Mastic, and apparently now in 2016, the original "Lifetime Warranty Certificate" (complete with shiny gold "Seal Of Authenticity") we found in my husband's dad's papers is utterly worthless, even for getting the original junky product removed.

Filling out the online form did, however, generate an astonishing number of responses beginning within 30 seconds of submitting the online form. Our home phone rang incessantly on both lines for over an hour. I felt like a Denver radio DJ giving away free tickets to Superbowl 50 to the lucky 18th caller! "Hello, please hold, you're next in line ... Hello, please hold, I'll be right with you ..."

One of the callers was a pleasant woman from K Designers. She was eager to "get the Alcoa Warranty Specialist" out immediately to take care of us, as it was necessary to have him document and photograph the siding in person. Sounds great! What luck - due to a cancellation, he had an opening in his schedule at 3pm the very next day.

The next afternoon, a nice young man arrived promptly at 3pm. He carried in numerous heavy-looking professional cases and binders, setting them down carefully under our dining room table. After exchanging pleasantries, he walked the exterior of the house with us, taking careful measurements and numerous photos with his cell phone.

He was so fresh- faced and well-mannered, stretching out his tape measure against the siding while nodding empathetically as I pontificated about the ###ization of classic examples of early 70's Mid Century Modern Architecture, due to vinyl siding, and my desire to return our home to its full glory, back to its pre-vinyl siding Tabula Rasa perfection.

When his measurements were complete, and I paused for breath after expounding at length about aesthetics, architecture, and hideous vinyl siding, we returned inside. As we seated ourselves at the dining room table, our young visitor rummaged through his bags and cases. He grinned broadly as he proudly spread out numerous "before-and-after" photos of ###ized classic examples of early 70's Mid Century Modern Architecture on my dining room table. Next to them, he placed his showpiece, a piece of actual vinyl siding. Have you ever had your cat look up at you, expecting praise as she drops a mangled, flailing rodent at your feet? It was exactly the same feeling, I tell you.

To be fair, a fair proportion of his photos were of builder-grade ranch homes, plus a few Craftsman-style bungalows. In any event, my husband was quite peeved that this "marketing director" guy stayed for over three hours, and dinner was delayed. Finally, he left, after letting it slip that K Designers "professional installation experts" only install a moisture barrier (aka Tyvek) if a house has asbestos siding, and doing so is an "add-on." However, the blown-in insulation is included in the price, and the holes are sealed and no one will ever see them under the new siding ...

Ever notice that only residential homes have horizontal vinyl siding? Seriously, you never see it on commercial buildings! Wonder why?
I mean, it's such a great product, you'd think every commercial building would have it ... ;-)

K-Designers / Judson Enterprises sales presentation

This company came to our home at 6 pm to provide information about window replacement. This was the longest and most ridiculous company presentation I have ever seen. We kept repeating to this man that we were not interested in committing to a decision today and did not want to finance anything. He did not listen to anything we kept saying and went on with his presentation and just simply would not stop and we could not get this to end until after 10 pm. We told him that we were tired, did not have dinner yet and it was our bedtime and he just kept going on and on and on about why we would not be interested in this "fabulous" deal he was offering us. It was an awful experience and we ended up getting very upset with him. I would never do business with this company because of the way they try to pressure people to sign up TODAY and ignore you when you are telling them you are not willing to do this. I can't believe they would rather lose a customer for not signing up today instead of accepting the fact and give us a reasonable bid for us to consider and allow us that opportunity as requested. Terrible company policy.

K-Designers / Judson Enterprises Scam Promise of &GoodJob&

I am a 43 year old professional male, i was contacted by K Designers after posting my resume on one of the larger job source websites. I was excited about the possibility of my new career with them, however after an interview was scheduled for the same day i posted my excitement on social media and got bombarded with concerned friends warning me of the danger that lay ahead. I did my online research and found out some very non professional business practices are conducted there both on employees and customers.
That is a lose, lose business ethic i anticipate this place going out of business very soon because of it. Thank goodness for social media that prevented me from making a HUGE career mistake, and thank goodness for honest on line reviews for the insight.

I wish I had read the reviews of the company before working for them as a "Marketing Director"! They hire you has a 1099 subcontractor. By IRS laws the job does not qualify as a "subcontractor". The company controls your every move the entire day. You have to report to the office everyday at 9:00 and be prepared to run leads from 10:00 AM to 8:00 PM. They only give you one lead without the homeowners phone number. You cannot call the homeowner to see if they are home. So you may drive 2 hours to have nobody home, or the infamous "I tried to tell her no on the phone but she wouldn't listen, so I told her come on over" Some homeowners think the person calling is the one that is coming over! The company preys on older people and people who cannot afford new windows/siding. One month I didn't pitch a single presentation because either the homeowner wasn't home or that they were looking for something that we didn't sell. Before you are assigned another lead, you have to call dispatch and "result" your call. If you stepped foot into the house you had to price the homeowner something even if they weren't interested in anything. The first 9 weeks you work off a draw. A lousy $250/week! Of course they take that back when you get your first commission check. The company had what they call a rollover bonus. With my sales in September of 2017, I earned a $800 bonus. Here it is 9/14/2018 and I still have not been paid. I called corporate and was told that I needed to talk to the branch manager. I did and his response was priceless. "Bonuses are being paid" I asked when. Response: "Not sure, but it will get paid, that's all I know" I responded "That is what I was told last year". Larry Judson, owner, is a multi millionaire and he can't afford to pay me $800! I sure wish I had read these reviews before working for this sham of a company!

K-Designers / Judson Enterprises Internet Information

I originally set up my interview with someone in the recruiting office that got my information from the internet. The individual I spoke with was extremely pleasant and informative about the opportunity, they told me that I was going to meet with Todd Nordrum, their Regional Manager. I was familiar with the business since I put myself through college selling vacuum cleaners for two years and then water softening systems for an additional three years. I have been contemplating getting back into in-home sales and looking for a company to grow with into a management position. I did my research on the internet and on Todd Nordrum, if I'm going to put my trust and faith into an individual I want to make sure I know who I'm working for. I found Mr. Nordrum to be very knowledgable about the industry, a roll-up your sleeves kind of guy who has built businesses from the ground up and shown others how to achieve higher positions within an organization. He didn't shy away from any of the tough questions or the crap that I found on the internet. I found K-Designers to be a long standing company with a focus on customer service and positive feedback from its sales staff. I'm not sure that K-Designers is a good fit for me at the moment, however I would have no problem working for a straight shooter like Todd Nordrum.

As a businessman/entrepreneur those of you that have to rely on a company to take care of you should refrain from posting disparaging comments about a company that creates an environment to earn an above average income. If you took the negative energy you wasted by posting ads on the internet and took control over your life and made results rather than excuses this world would be a much better place.

If your interested in a career opportunity judge it for what you see and experience, not what you read on the internet, K-Designers and Todd Nordrum are professional and committed to what they do. I'm not an advocate for K-Designers or a paid marketing representative, just a professional guy who hates to see those that create jobs and opportunities for people get stabbed in the back for their efforts.

K-Designers / Judson Enterprises Broken windows

Contacted the K-Designers several time, and I was told that they would do their best to fix my windows. It has been over 9 months and they have yet to fix the windows. I frequently get calls from there telemarketing department and when I complain about there services they do their best at relaying my issue. The last time I was contacted, after explaining the situation, I asked to be removed from their call list. the representative then told me the reason the windows had not been fixed yet was because of my attitude. It is amazing that this company can survive this economic slump, if this is the kind of services you can expect from K-Designers.

K-Designers / Judson Enterprises whiners

I am really amazed at anyone who would come on here and complain about k-designers. If anyone reads this justask yourself how could a company stay in business for so many years and still hold high ratings with agencies that police Home Remodeling companies. There are a lot of long term employees, including sales people, that love this company. The sales people that jump on here are the ones that failed and cannot take responsibility for their failure. They think its everyone elses fault! Not theirs! The best advice for those sales guys that failed is to just look in the mirror and ask yourself...how can other sales people make it and be very successful but yet I failed! It's 100 percent YOU! Not the company.

My husband has been a honest and hardworking laborer for this company. They treat him like dirt, rip him off, break labor laws, screw up checks and then deduct their "mistakes" without notice. My husband does great work as do most of the laborers he works with and thats why they have happy customers... because in all they have mostly good guys installing the material. The company itself; however, seems intent on ruining all goodwill they have with their employees and walking all over them. They do this to both the laborers and to their salesmen. They do; however, make most of their customers happy which has kept them in business over the years. As soon as another job opportunity arises... he is taking it.

As a customer I'm just adding my two cents!
So heres the deal.
I came home from lunch to find my shutter hanging down- having broken and swung down and my window broken as well. We had major high gust winds that day- my area gets hit hard with them. They are called the chinooks here and can run up 90 mile per hour and above. I can't tell what happened. Did the wind break it, did the wind throw something against it, did a bird hit it, did a kid walking down the street hit it with a frisbee, what the heck happened?
Besides this I also had some siding that had started to loose the crease "bubble"- Small piece not a huge part- probably from wind through the years that I had been dragging my feet on calling them about. Originally I bought siding and windows back in 2002. So I call them up and they come out an look at it. Window can't do much about though he did really try to get it through the warranty department they subcontract to- high winds are act of god. However he did get me a rocking deal on replacing the whole window as I priced the windows elsewhere this really was a "valued customer replacement deal". I'm not going to put the price, but it is NO WHERE near what I payed originally and cheaper than lowes and home depot with installment. They also replaced the shutter no charge. They replaced the whole wall where the bubble was and had their guy go over the whole house and tighten everything up again (did I mention my house gets really pounded by winds) just to make sure I have no more problems down the road.

What company does this nine years later? K Desingers.

Are they expensive? Hell yes they are, but I payed for a lifetime warranty and I got a lifetime warranty that is actually backed up not just some piece of paper not worth anything!

Larry you did me good- thank you and K Desingers!

Happy customer 9 years later,

Teri Langston

K-Designers / Judson Enterprises home remodeling

this website is for complaints only, but I have som epossitive feed back for this company. I used to work for K designers for over 4 months until I moved from that place, (relocated) I say it was one of the best complay I ever worked for. They always paid me well and they worked with customers good too. they dont cheat. that is proven because they will want you to sign the 100% satisfaction form then they will start the pmt. so after the job is done if the customer dont like the job in any way they dont have to sign the 100% saztisfaction form so that means they will not pay until they are 100% satisfied. how many companies you can find that dont take any money down untill the job is doen. so explains. there are some employees that either stole money or did something bad that is now fired they want to turn the company down, you cant satisfy all the employee because we as employee want a lot.

K-Designers / Judson Enterprises eShield

I’ve been a Costco member for over 20 years. I love Costco and have purchased from Costco.com as well as in their stores. We looked into the eShield product and ultimately bought it. K-Designers came to our home and made a presentation. They asked us to buy that day, as we expected, we just told them “NO, for now”, “We'll have to get back to you” and that was fine with them.

Rather than going ahead with the project we elected to wait to do some research. We discovered an incredible amount of misinformation, misleading and outright deceptive advertising all over the internet. Ultimately though, we found very good information on the US Department of Energy (DOE) website. There we found details for aluminum radiant barriers (clearly NOT the same product) and Reflective Insulation. According to the DOE typical radiant barriers are primarily effective in the summer months only. Also typical Radiant Barriers don't "breath" -- they have a tendency to trap moisture which of course negates any benefit. Elsewhere there are reports of cases where moisture condensed and froze on the surface of the radiant barrier, and then later (when the temperature rose) the frozen condensation melted then damaged insulation and other parts of homes.

When we asked if this was a problem with eShield we found out that eShield is Reflective INSULATION that has microscopic perforations which allow the product to breathe so moisture and condensation are never an issue. The more research we did the more we discovered that Reflective Insulation is the way to go regardless of climate. Yes, it is slightly more effective in the summer: however, when eShield is properly installed it is very effective in the winter too.

By reading the entire DOE articles carefully they clearly differentiate between the two different types of materials: 1) Radiant Barriers and 2) The more effective product, called REFLECTIVE INSULATION. See the DOE website article --

http://www.energysavers.gov/your_home/insulation_airsealing/index.cfm/mytopic=11670

See also YOU TUBE for more info...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uv_Hg6bBVZI

We decided that we only wanted to do this job once – so we wanted the right product and the work done right. The more we discovered about the eShield product the more convinced we became that eShield was the right product for us -- so we bought it and we're happy we did. Our home is more comfortable and our energy consumption is lower. We are completely satisfied with Costco and K-Designers. They treated our home and property with respect. Their workers wore booties in the living space of our home and left our home as neat and clean as the moment the arrived. Our experience couldn't have been any better!

Do your own research and consider your own home -- one word of caution though... this work is best left to professionals, I don't recommend trying to do it yourself.

We also did research on eshield and found wonderful reviews. We bought the product and had it installed in April 2011 by Terminix and have not seen any bills lowered -- Actually, our electric bill has done nothing but get higher and higher. I have contacted Terminix several times and asked them to please check out the installation, but so far ( May 2012) nothing has been done. I would not recommend this product to anyone.

Sincerely,

Sorry, Larry, but it's time to take the money and run. Your style of business will soon die in the google world.
About how you go to church and give money and stuff to it, I doubt that you truly tithe the boatloads of cash you have swindled for 32 years. Next time you are in church, pick up the Bible and look at these passages-
Exodus 20:2–17

I worked for KD for one week. After flying me to California and picking me up in a limo, I had to memorize scripts of how to make a customer think they are getting a promotional discount. It was so shady that I did not even run a single appointment and quit right away. They pay on a 1099 and have a couple favorites that they give the local appointment to and the rest of the sales staff has to drive 100s of miles. It is completely unethical the way they do business. There are others in the area that do a similar pitch: Budget Exteriors, Custom Remodelers, Sela, Champion, Russco, Advanced Window Concepts. They all have fake discount schemes including sign in the yard, friends and family, before and after pics, some rebate, 1st visit discount, and website discount. They are all fake to make you think you are getting a deal. Good Luck and go with a proven company that will be there after the sale, something always goes wrong at some time or another.

K-Designers / Judson Enterprises Intimidating pressured sales tactic

I was suckered into an appt by a K- Designers telemarketer. Thought what do I have to loose by just getting a quote? Got my confirmation code and was set for a next day appointment. The first RED FLAG where I should have just said NO to the whole consult was that the telemarketer offered me a 8 PM appt. (it's pitchblack at 8 and who does window/remodeling quotes at night?) After I had my appt, I looked at the reviews online, confirming that my gut-instinct was right. Decided to cancel the appt, called K-Designers and of course no live person answers the phone, so I leave a message with the confirmation number that they gave me, cancelling my next day appointment. I did not want to endure the torture of sitting through a 4 hour high pressure presentation. Next day a K Desiner Marketing Director shows up anyway? Need I say more? He finally left after I told him for the 10th time that I cancelled the appt and I wasn't interested because of the bad reviews I read online. The guy made me very uncomfortable as he continued to try to talk me into his sales pitch after all. I believe he only left after another person pulled up my driveway (sigh! rescued!). I hate sleazy slimy salespeople who won't take NO for an answer!

K-Designers / Judson Enterprises E Shield

I just experienced a K-Designers sales presentation due to a response I made to Costco.com. I will say it was an interesting experience. If you contact K-Designers or they contact you, I'd suggest you get competing bids before you get the K-Designers bid. If your experience is like mine, there is a reason they want you to sign a contract before they leave your home and continue to reduct the price and throw free products into the offer. I found them to be very overpriced compared to local contractors. I don't see the need to be hire pressure if you're offering a quality product at a competitive price. Why is it cheaper if I sign tonight versus tomorrow? They don't want you to get other bids. Bad idea. I can't speak to their quality, we never made it that far in the process. I did find their bid was three times higher than competing bids even after my Costco discount for E-Shield installation and the additional K-Designers discount if I would sign the contract before the sales rep left my home. What a scam! Buyer beware.

One would think I could find credible research somewhere on the internet to substantiate the claims Eshield has made. Where might I find independent research to validate the Eshield claims? I'd be happy to reconsider my purchase, just not from a high pressure sales company like K-Designers.

Why is it cheaper if I sign tonight versus tomorrow? - Well it's cheaper tonight for several very valid reasons. I work for an eShield dealer, and we have a high demand for the product. We see a lot of customers and we cover a 90 mile radius around out home office. If we were going back 2-3 times to do business, our costs would skyrocket. We would see LESS customers. It's not a sustainable business model to go back to see 200 people twice in a month. The investment is a no-brainer. Either you see the value or you don't. This is a quality product that is installed and serviced by factory technicians that work for eSheild. It carries Lifetime warranties, and energy savings guarantees. Also, during our exhaustive energy analysis, we identify a wide variety of things that can be done to cut energy costs. In most cases, if all the things we suggest are implemented, clients will see a 50% drop int heir energy prices. Energy costs are going up. This product is a must in areas that are hot and humid. The product is breathable and the system in incredible at reflecting heat. HVAC units are not having to work as hard. It's very simple. Can similar product be installed for less. Possibly, but my company has been around since to 70's and we offer a high level to all our clients after the sale, and will be there should any type of warranty repair or replacement be needed. We also offer other green technologies and products in combination with eSheild that will improve the energy efficiency of your home. And it is guaranteed!

I'm not going to put the price, NO WHERE near what I payed originally and cheaper than lowes or home depot with installation. They also replaced the shutter no charge. They replaced the whole wall where the bubble was and had their guy go over the whole house and tighten everything up again (did I mention my house gets really pounded by winds) just to make sure I have no more problems down the road.

As for e-shields and raidents and blah blah blah. Sorry I don't get into the whole micro fiber whats good and whats not. Bottom line - Did my heating prices go down- yes. I don't have an air conditioner I have an attic fan so I can't answer on the whole cooling aspect, but I haven't switched over to an air conditioner. However living in a climate that reaches above 100 degrees and this year was -20 in winter I can say I have had not other problems with their product and have been completely satisfied by it.

So what company honors a warranty and works with you to get things back in original order nine years later? K Desingers.

Are they expensive? Hell yes they are, but I payed for a lifetime warranty and I got a lifetime warranty that is actually backed up with customer service not just some piece of paper not worth anything!

Larry you did me good- thank you and K Desingers!

Happy customer 9 years later,

Teri Langston
Longmont, Colorado!

PS- no matter who you go with I got an inside tip for you- all companies pretty much hire contractors. Just like your waiter, your mailman, your milk delivery..whatever- TIP them for godssake maybe 9 years later they will remember you!

Radiant Barrier is available perforated and non-perforated, most companies sell it for the same or very close to the same cost. (Perforated barriers do not have any issues with condensation.)That being 12-15 cents for square foot. I fail to understand how e-shield can justify $2-3 per square foot. Installation by a qualified insured and licensed contractor will be in the 25-35 cent per square foot price. That puts the job cost including materials and labor at 37-50 cents per square foot. Quite a difference!

I built a demo-box to the exact same specifications as the unit used to demonstrate e-shield. The results were surprising. The perforated radiant barrier without insulation performed BETTER than the e-shield! I was amazed. This sold me on using perforated radiant barrier.

The government tests were performed years ago, with a single-sided aluminum reflective material. All of the materials I have seen available have a "scrim" sandwich between two separate foils. This allows the radiant barrier to reflect heat out during the summer and reflect heat in during the winter.

The e-shield sample has a reflective foil with a paper backing! Then the insulation and then another foil. I am of the opinion that while e-shield is a good product, you can get a better result for much less expense with a perforated radiant barrier.

This person certainly has an interesting point of view. I too am a Costco member and have been for over 20 years. I love Costco and have purchased from Costco.com as well as in their stores. We looked into the eShield and ultimately bought it.

K-Designers came to our home and made a presentation. Yes, they did ask us to buy that day but no one forced me to buy (in fact we sort of expected that they would ask us to buy the same day when we set the appointment, we just said NO we'll have to get back to you).

We elected to wait to do some research. We found the same US Department of Energy website listed above and realized this article refers to single ply alumium radiant barriers -- clearly NOT the same product! By reading the entire article carefully the author describes another type of material called REFLECTIVE INSULATION. See the same website, different article --

http://www.energysavers.gov/your_home/insulation_airsealing/index.cfm/mytopic=11670

See also YOU TUBE for more info... this is an house in a cold climate...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uv_Hg6bBVZI

The more research we did the more we discovered that Reflective Insulation is the way to go regardless of climate. Yes, it is slightly more effective in the summer but when installed properly can be very effective in the winter too.

Another reason radiant barriers can be problematic is they don't "breath" -- they have a tendency to trap moisture which of course negates any benefit. We read of some cases where moisture condensed and froze on the surface of the radiant barrier and damaged insulation and other parts of homes.

In contrast the eShield product is Reflective INSULATION that has microscopic perforations which allow the product to breath so moisture and condensation are never an issue.

The more we learned about it the more convinced we became that eShield is a good product -- so we bought it and we're happy we did. Our home is more comfortable and our energy consumption is lower. We are completely satisfied with Costco and K-Designers. Sorry you feel it was a bad experience our experience couldn't have been better!

Do your own research and consider your own home -- one word of caution though... this work is best left to professionals, I don't recommend trying to do it yourself.

I was foolish enough to sign up for eShield. It was installed in my attic and I can detect absolutely no difference in my heating bills as compared to last year whatsoever. The heat runs almost continually in my house, and I keep the setting at 63 degrees. I am still freezing and I have a huge debt on top of that. To add insult to injury, I still have never received my "free" gifts that were promised the night I signed the contract in September 2010. Here it is mid-December, and I can't even get anyone to call me back on this---well, they did and they promised me that the box of CF light bulbs and fireplace seal were "on order". That was back in October. I can only imagine how they will respond when I ask them to fulfill on their promise that if my utility bill isn't cut by 25% they would pay my bill for 6 months...I don't have much hope they will come through on that guarantee any more than they have on their "free" gifts. I am disgusted and ripped off. I am only posting this in frustration that I can't get any response from the people who sold me this. I imagine that when I go to file my taxes, I will also find that the promised tax credit will be a fake also, completing a triple set of lies.

I have looked at the eshield product. It installs under the roof rafters where the combination of fresh air coming in through the vents in the soffit and upward through the ridge vent assist in removing the heat. I understand the benefits of a radiant barrier as it reflects radiant heat before it enters the attic...but I just fail to understand how an insulation core adds any value given that the ventilation would promote a flow of air and negate any benefit of the miniscule amount of insulation. A thermal break is of no use when you have air flowing on both sides of the barrier. I have seen the claims of eshield having an r-value equivalent to 15 inches of insulation...maybe if it were in a sealed box with eight inches of dead air space, but in the normal application with air flow on both sides it cannot have much if any value. Just my observations... Save your money and get a radiant barrier!

Dear Minnesota,
We at Eshield Technologies are sorry about your experience with the dealer listed. However, Eshield is not a standard radiant barrier and should not be compared in price to one. Unlike radiant barriers Eshield has a half inch core of high density microlite fiberglass to help to also slow conduction and convection in addition to radiant heat transfer. The DOE site only addresses radiant barriers not true reflective insulations. As you know radiant barriers have no R-Value as do reflective insulation products. We have many customers that have written us to tell how they no longer see the snow melting on their roof or the formation of ice dams and icicles after Eshield was installed . We would be happy to send you a sample of both products so that you could truly see the difference. Again we are sorry that you had a bad experience with a salesperson but please do not unjustly compare our product to one that is truly inferior.
Thank you,
Eshield Technologies

K-Designers / Judson Enterprises Entire Company is a SCAM - Beware

Do NOT work for K-Designers. Do NOT buy from K-Designers... This is a TOTAL SCAM COMPANY...

In 1995, I trained for a Marketing Director Position with K-Designers, Denver, Colorado. I worked for them for over 6 months and then worked for several other competitors who were doing the same 'Promotion' in the Denver, Colorado territory. I did the home improvement “Promotional Home” sales pitch for over 5 years and was considered one of the best in the Western States. My last year in business I grossed over $175, 000 in income (before taxes and expenses).

I am glad you are happy with the work that K-Designers did for you. I hope that if you live in your home for any length of time that your product has no problems. K-Designers does NOT warranty labor to fix their products after the sale. The lifetime warranty is only on the product. In addition, K-Designers is not known for great service after the sale. K-Designers is all about new SALES! There is NO profit in sending a repair crew to your home to fix potential problems especially if you live over 100 miles from their main location. K-Designers sub-contracts all of their work, so they would actually have to pay a crew to drive to your home and do the repair. I hardly think they would remain profitable if they actually spent money repairing the problems people can have with windows, siding and other home improvements.

Their sales pitch…. Well, K-Designers uses the oldest gimmick in the book. The movie 'Tin Man' accurately depicts this company. K-Designers approaches ALL homeowners with the same sales pitch... "We want to use your home for our promotion. If you agree to allow us to use your home to market our product, we have marketing dollars we will spend on your home. These marketing dollars will save you thousands of dollars if you do business with us TODAY, WHILE I AM HERE! (Not tomorrow, but NOW).

Sales representatives are called Marketing Directors. Why? So that you the prospective customer is under the impression, you are talking to someone in authority. You, the homeowner, actually think you are speaking with a Director of the Company, not a sales person. You think this Director has special powers and has this budget of money to spend on your home. You have to agree to allow K-Designers to put a sign in your yard, take before & after photos, write letters of reference and much more…. For each item you agree to, K-Designers or the manufacturer will spend marketing dollars (which do not exist) on your home to reduce your total cost. It’s truly amazing to see the cost of a siding project go from a whopping $25, 000 Retail cost, down to $14, 999. Because your home is special, and you LOVE the product, and you agree to help with marketing you will save thousands… but remember you must do this now, while the Marketing Director is in your home. He/she will tell you they are so busy they cannot come back. They are booked solid with interested people. They have more people interested in the ‘fake’ promotion, then they have money to spend.

The marketing directors are trained to take control of you and take you through a 10 step sales process which includes: 1) a warm up 2) an introduction to the promotion, 3) a review of the company K-Designers and their manufacture (was Revere or Alcoa), 4) a detailed review of the promotion (put up a sign in your yard, agree to write a letter, agree to before & after pictures, and more items if necessary), 5) product demonstration (you must LOVE the product), 6) measure, 7) do a pretty drawing of your home 8) do an ROI (return on investment)… “Does this make financial sense; can you afford to do this?” (for siding they show you the cost of painting, alleged energy savings, and alleged increase value to your home), 9) Negotiations (they want you to go very slow, go outside in between steps, and reduce the price slowly… each time getting you the prospect to say yes to another marketing activity, and 10) paperwork and wrap up.

The marketing director is trained to ask pivotal sales questions to you during the presentation. Examples… “Folks, this may or may not be for you… if it is not, please let me know…. Of course, your home would be prefect for our promotion, but I understand if this is not for you. I have many other people who I have on my schedule who are interested in the promotion. If you do not want to participate, we will shake hands and part friends”.

Before the sales person goes to measure, they are trained to ask another question…. “Folks, you love the product… Right? … and you agree to help me with the promotion, Right? (you say yes)… Well, I love your home and you qualify for the promotion. I would love to use your home to market our product in this area! Aside from money, is there any reason we cannot do business…. WHILE I AM HERE?”…. then they remain quiet. They have cornered you into making a decision while they are there. This is called a 1-call close, or a HARD SELL! If you are not a strong person or couple, you have no choice but to continue…. Else, you would be a liar. Good people don’t lie or change their minds.

However, the REALITY IS… this, it is all baloney, fake, made up. The PROMOTION is BOGUS. There are NO Marketing dollars. Yes, K-Designers will put a sign in your yard, and they will take before & after pictures. You will also write a letter of reference….. but guess what…. EVERY K-Designers customer DOES THE SAME THING. The sales pitch is the same for EVERY POTENTIAL CUSTOMER. You are not special. Again, You are not special. You are just another person/couple that K-Designer’s is pressuring into making a decision to buy siding - TODAY. If they did not have the “Promotional” lie, they would have no reason to get you to buy today!

K-Designers uses the ‘PROMOTION’ as an excuse for everything. Examples. If a husband and wife both own a home, and only the wife is present when the Marketing Director arrives for the appointment, he/she will not present to you, nor will they give you any prices. They are trained to say, that according to the “PROMOTION” all owners must be present. Another example. Say you want to think about the price overnight? The Marketing Director will say something like…. “I’m sorry Mr. & Mrs. Smith, but the ‘Promotion’ requires that you make a decision while I am here. If you are not interested in the ‘Promotion’, I need to release the funds for someone else. I have more people interested in the Promotional dollars (that do not exist), then I have money to spend. You understand, don’t you?” The MD’s use the “Promotion” as their excuse for many objections you the homeowners may have. Bottom line is you must decide while they are in your home or you will lose all of those bogus marketing dollars!

THE FEAR OF LOSS is what motivates people to buy siding while the marketing director is in their home. People are afraid that they will miss out on an once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to save thousands. You feel special that your home has qualified for Revere or Alcoa to use their product on…. You qualify….

Who sets the price? Well, if you are a good sales person (Marketing Director) you can start your price anywhere you’d like. At the end of the day, you just have to cover the cost of the siding and the cost of the sub-contracted crew who will do the work (plus other expenses K-Designers charges the MD (sales rep) such as financing fees, etc. It is not uncommon for a Marketing Director to make $5, 000 commission on a standard 1-story, 3 bedroom home.

K-Designers brags about all the employees they have. The reality is this. All of K-Designers Marketing Directors are supposed to be 1099 Independent contractors. They have a constant stream of MD’s hoping they will get rich selling K-Designers products. The reality is most MD’s do not make it past 2 months. They realize that they may have to run 50 appointments a month to make 3-5 sales. They will drive hundreds of miles, spend many lonely nights in flea ridden run-down hotels, eat at truck stops and quick stop gas stations, be apart from their homes and families for 23 days each month, and many suffer from depression and / or alcoholism. There dream to get rich at K-Designers was a last ditch effort to survive. Many have exhausted all efforts to find a real sales job with a real company that actually pays you a base salary, pays your travel expenses, and provides full benefits.

K-Designers fully controls the lives of the MD’s but has no responsibility for the MD’s they hire…. They are in constant lawsuits with MD’s over taxes, control, and independent contractor status. VERY FEW sales people make it as long-term K-Designers sales reps (marketing directors). It is very sad to know how terribly K-Designer’s uses good sales people. They take advantage of these sales people, with dreams of wealth, then simply say ‘NEXT’ when the sales people can’t perform or complain about the constant travel. Additionally, if a sales rep sells anything his first month, it can take 3-6 moths to see the job ‘cash out’. If the sales rep priced the job right, he/she might get a check, but remember they are new and might under price the siding or forget some other important cost or fee… if they are lucky they might see real money in 3 months. K-Designers does allow new hires to ‘draw’ against future sales, but the draw is barely enough to run leads (it costs an average of $500 a week to run leads). The draw does not allow a sales rep to pay rent / mortgage, pay bills, or feed their family. Imagine the stress the new sales rep has…. New job, new company, no money until 3-6 months (if you sell something and price it right). Many MD’s end up quitting and or filing for bankruptcy.

Let’s continue to talk about all of K-designers hundreds/thousands of employees. When I worked for the organization, ALL of the siding and window installation crews were sub-contractors. Some of these crews were professional… they had trucks and equipment, but most were deadbeats. I had one crew show up to do a siding job… the person was so broke, and so behind in child support. that he was found camping beside a river in a tent at night. He even borrowed money from the homeowners so that he could eat. K-Designers did not have company employees for sales or installation….. It would be interesting to know how many ‘real’ employees were actually full-time K-Designer employees. Out of 9, 000 published employees, I would guess only 500 are actual employees.

Why does this matter? This is why. If a company is serious about hiring and keeping good sales and installation people, they will hire them as a full-time employee with full benefits (health, dental, insurance) and provide the employees vehicles and expense accounts. K-Designers has NO commitment to independent contractors. NONE. They pay no taxes and have no expenses on these people. All of ‘those’ people are disposable. No accountability. No Costs. K-Designers has NO commitment to having / keeping employees, why would they have any commitment to you as a prospective customer?

Do not work for K-Designers and please do not buy from this company. They do NOT have a unique product. They do not have a special Promotion. They take advantage of prospective customers. They take advantage of good sales people ~ independent contractors are NOT employees! They are focused on NEW SALES ONLY… they do not provide good service after the sale. Most importantly, the technique they use to sell their product is a lie. THE PROMOTION is a gimmick. You can find the same product, or better, by shopping around.

Larry Judson, CEO, should be ashamed of the lies he has perpetrated over the years while doing business. He has lied to thousands of customers and thousands of good sales reps (Marketing Directors a.k.a. INDEPENDENT CONTRACTORS). It is time to shut this company down. If you are in the market for windows or siding, please buy from a LOCAL company. A company you trust and that carries a good product and a warranty on both the product and labor (get references and talk to people who have done business with the company). Do business with a company that hires, trains and takes good care of its sales and installation crew. Larry and his crew are the ### of the earth. Mr. Judson, you will someday answer to the Man up above!

Remember, if it sounds too good to be true, it usually is not true! Take care!

Hi Family from Mariposa...
When I worked for K-Designers they ALWAYS used a good product. I am sure this has not changed. Typically the warranty only covers the cost of material NOT labor. So if you need a repair, the siding should always be covered, but unless the contract states otherwise, the labor for the repair will cost you out-of-pocket.

My questions is this...WHY is the siding cracking? I have never heard of this! During our sales presentation we would hit the siding with a hammer and it would not crack!

Siding comes in many thicknesses, called mills. The good siding will be .48-.52 mils thick. The cheap siding (typically builders use this, or some 'not-so-good' installers will fool customers with a bait and switch - they say they will put on the BEST siding, but purchase the cheap, thin stuff to put on your house. Why? Well it does cost less, but not that much less). Despite my dislike for K-Designer's former sales tactics... they ALWAYS carried a top-notch product!

The only time I have seen cracking is 1) freezing cold weather that has been below zero for a long period 20 days plus (then something had has to hit the siding... sometimes it will crack, but not always.) Vinyl and steel siding are tough! K-Designers does NOT like having to come back to a home to re-do a problem. They REALLY do put on the best siding (Yes, Larry... I forgive you, and this kudo is on me!) Seriously, the product should not be cracking.

Besides freezing, the only two reason would be 1) a faulty product or 2) your siding was INSTALLED incorrectly.

So what to do? IMO, I would first call your siding manufacturer (it used to be Revere, they might be using Alcoa brand now)... this information should be in your paperwork. Find out who made the product, look up their phone number using the internet, and call their customer service team. I would specifically ask them is they have had ANY complaints on your style of siding. They will ask you questions as to the year it was put up, who did the work, and more... I would think that they will tell you that they have not had any complaints for the product produced during your time period and for your style and color.

So what is left? Installation! K-Designer's sub-contracts their work out to independent contractors (they may have changed that, but I doubt it... it would mean Larry Judson would have to carry insurance on these guys, and that would mean more expense, more potential liability for the company, etc... .if he tells you they are employees make him PROVE IT.)

This is important... not all subcontractors install siding the same way! They might tell the installation coordinator at K-Designers that they are the BEST, but I do not believe anything that contractors tell me. I know that in the world in general, morals have declined, honesty is going away, and we are left to defend ourselves... so be strong, and YES fight.

If the product is cracking, and the siding was not hit had during a long winter freeze, than it HAD TO BE INSTALLED incorrectly. Here's what happens... Installers tell K-Designers they are great (so they get the job); however, by the time they get your order, load the siding, j-channel, soffit, fascia, accessories on their rig and drive to your home they have one objective... to get you to sign the completion certificate stating you are happy! Why? Once you sign, they can load up their rig and race home to try and get their money (they don't get paid until AFTER you sign). This process creates haste.

I'm not saying all installers do this, but I owned my own company for years and I could write a book of stories just about the sub-contractors who do installation. The only way the product does not perform properly (aside from the freezing described above) is because it was either staples too tight to the wall, or it was screwed-nailed too tight! Every inch of siding has to gently 'slide' back and forth (that is why you see 'slots' in the top of the siding and not nail/screw holes). This movement is ESSENTIAL... why?... If the product does not move side to side it will not expand and contract with the change in weather.

When the panels do not slide back and forth, the siding will 1) warp or buckle or 2) when it contracts in the cold weather is is very susceptible to CRACKING! If an installer rushes and does not insure each piece of installed siding moves correctly back and forth, then you very well will see warping and or CRACKING!

You can confirm this with the manufacturer. BEFORE you contact Larry Judson (K-designers), take GOOD pictures and send them to the manufacturer. Your goal is to have the manufacturer confirm that the product was not installed correctly (or tell you what is wrong)... again, there is NO reason for this cracking.

GET Proof from the manufacturer. Take pictures and then call K-Designers (I would have an attorney call for you... if possible). However, you can do this on your own... you have proof, logic and God on your side.

Determine what is required to fix the problem. Has the entire home been installed incorrectly of is it just one wall? You need to think 5 years from now... will the next wall start cracking?

I would simply let K-Designer's know that you have already confirmed with the siding manufacturer, that HIS company installed the product incorrectly on your home. I would want the entire home redone AT NOT COST TO YOU. You have no idea when you signed the form that the sub-contracted installed, cut corners and installed the siding incorrectly. If the company says they will fix only one wall, tell them that 1) the manufacturer confirmed the entire home was done incorrectly and the ONLY was to fix this problem and ALL FUTURE problems is to do EVERYTHING all over again... the right way, 2) Push the issue of fading... if they do only one wall the colors will be slightly different, 3) Finally K-Designers that the sales person sold you on the facts that K-Designers was the BEST company to do siding... You paid for not only the best siding, but also the BEST installation.

Reputation is everything. If K-Designers is unwilling to re-do the work at their cost for both labor and new siding, then tell them you will tell your horrible K-Designers siding drama to everyone including: 1) the Better Business Bureau, 2) The siding manufacturer, 3) Your states Attorney General, 4) Each of you local Cable-TV stations 5) you will call you local radio stations 6) you will contact TV shows that do expose's on rip off companies (20-20, 48 hours, etc) 6) and tell them you have no problem posting a LARGE factual sign in your yard stating K-Designers ruined your home by mis-installing siding 7) USE THE POWER OF THE INTERNET - Facebook, Linkedin, YouTube, MySpace

Remember, you are the customer. It is very hard work for K-designers to obtain new customers, but it is very easy to lose potential customers. Negative publicity, TV, Radio, Media, Newspapers, and the internet can destroy a company like K-Designers. If you know enough people where you live, you can make sure that they never side another home in your town-subdivision, etc. THERE IS POWER in using the MEDIA to help persuade companies like K-Designers.

I Know you will do well. Have faith. You did not make a bad buying decision... your home will be beautiful and it will be perfect - you CERTAINLY PAID FOR THE BEST, and THEY NEED TO DELIVER - with NO FURTHER CHARGE TO YOU! I will pray that K-Designer's does an excellent job at fixing your siding AT NOT COST TO YOU. They work hours trying to fill the internet with so many fake positive stories. Let's make them live up to all the hype they sell to you and also post on the internet.

Please post back here if you need help... also, please let the rest of us know how your story unfolds. I seriously will be praying that this works out wonderfully for you. God bless...

Bought full house siding (remove old, install new). Crew showed up a few hours each day then left, as I had to take vacation to be here for the work. Five day job ended up being two weeks. Two days later, new siding was falling off the house. K-Designers sent a "fixer" to put it back up. I had bought the five year warranty just in case. Now, after the expiration of the warranty, siding is falling off again. Worst installation, worst product, worst customer service I've ever experienced. My house is 40 x 55 feet, so you can get an idea how much product is involved. Don't even deal with these people.

One problem with K Designers is that they keep calling me, especially during dinner. The calls are unsolicited. I never signed up for anything to do with these annoying pests. I have called them a number of times to get off their list. They hang up on me and the calls do not stop.

K-Designers replaced all our larger windows several years ago. I had to "fight" to get the lifetime warranty in a written form after they verbally told me they had that warranty but it was not stated in any of the forms we were given to sign. We were given the "bonus" of having our outside lamps replaced...the workers did this but after they left I saw that they had not replaced all of them, so now our lamps are mismatched. As time passed, the new lamps rusted as opposed to the original ones which just had the brass dull with age. After a couple of years I discovered that when it rained either hard or steadily (in WA state this is common) all the new windows they installed leaked. I called customer service several times, each time getting a recording stating it may take a few days for my call to be returned. The call was never returned and I was never able to reach customer service to deal with the leaky windows. In the beginning we planned to have them do the remaining smaller windows when we could afford it - now I will never used them or recommend them. I did research them before hiring them, but back then did not find the complaints I see now.

K designers came to our house this week for an estimate. The situation was exactly like the first post here described. We were offered a "great deal" by the "marketing director." We said no, and HE WOULD NOT LEAVE. He got angry at us and kept trying to talk us down. He was a bit scary in the end. He stayed for 3 hours. It was horrid.

Us too!
Ugh!
K-Design SUCKS!

I Beg to differ about K-Designers and what a GREAT company they are. I have been dealing with inferior windows for over three years now. I paid very good money for these LIFE TIME WARRANTED WINDOWS. The first one went out within three years of being installed. I was told that the company went out of business or so I thought, so I didn't do anything about it until we had work done on my sons house by another window and siding co. The owner asked why I didn't ask to get the window replaced. When I told him who had done it he said they were still in business so I dug out the paperwork. They had a new # but I finally tracked them down. They came out of Billings Montana and sold windows in our area in 1999. I finally got thru to them and explained the problem, it took MANY
phone calls and a year to get them to come back here to replace the window. I pointed out the start of the same damage in two other windows and was told they only come and replace them. Called 1-3-2012 to report the loss to 2 more sets of windows. So out of 4 sets of windows, I have now lost 3. Traco was the manufacturer of the FANTASTIC NEW WINDOWS OF THE FUTURE.. as we were told in the presentation and that they were warrantied for Lifetime. Back then it was a lot of money and we believed the lies we were told. I have now called the people in Billings 17 times. Most times I leave voicemails and messages with the secretary which are never
returned. I have actually spoken with the MANAGER 3 times and each time I get a new LIE as to how we will get the windows replaced. Traco does not do residential windows anymore and I was told by Traco I would have to take it up with K-
Designers to get a replacement. I had to call Traco myself because I waited 2 months for MANAGER to contact Traco and get back to me. I called their # and got a response in 1 day. What does that tell you about the integrity of K-Designers. Right now I am at the point of what to do next and I am going to do a BBB Complaint. I asked if I could just get $1400. to have them replaced by a local
window guy. NOPE. So people do not believe the SALES pitch as to Lifetime Warranty. There is no such thing. Do business locally with someone you can actually talk to face to face and who has to do business in your community. I Don't think these businesses who
are not located in your own state should be allowed so sell their product in yours. I think a person should not have to replace windows in a home within the first 15 years of replacement. What does that tell you about the QUALITY of workmanship. One unhappy consumer I have become and sorry, I would NEVER do business with company again.

I worked for a siding company years ago, and it was the same then. Out of 100, 000 or so customers, I see maybe a dozen complaints? To each there own, but I agree with the comments that "bad" companies don't stay around long, especially using the same name>but if a company gives you value, you'll tell everyone, thus being their promotion? Wow, what a concept! As to buy know or lose savings? It's called a sale for a reason. You don't see car dealers saying "we have the new models in stock, so stop by someday" It's THIS WEEKEND-BLOWOUT SALE-

My husband and I bought siding from K-Designers, we have had it up for several years now and we have had problems with it. The first time they came out and fixed some of the problems. but now we have another issue, the siding is cracking. I am afraid to call them becsuse they will say it is your problem not ours, and we will have to pay another 250$ for them to come out and fix their product. What can we do? i will write BBB and complain again. The first time was a headache, because they would not call back or acknowledge that we even had a problem, they just ignored the situation. I did the first time write BBB and K-Designer did call back within a few days of writing BBB.
Thanks
Family from Mariposa.

K-Designers / Judson Enterprises Dishonest Sales Approach - RipOff

I had K-Designers come to my home last year and the Marketing Directors (Salesmen) started with their pitch that they could decrease the price significantly because of the exposure our home would have in the area. The pricing started around $40k and after my disapproval of the price it dropped to $35k for less service and then a few rounds of haggling, we ended up around $25k for the same service. That difference was the first sign that this wasn't the marketing favor they were proposing. Then I got quotes from other companies for $15k to $20k for comparable product (very important to compare apples to apples), it was clear this wasn't anything other than a sales pitch and a deceptive one at that. I decided to wait a year to redo the exterior of my home and am planning on doing it in the next couple of months.

I was recently called again stating that things are significantly different now at K-Designers and that a new Marketing Director would like to come by and visit my home to show me their new products. As a sales executive myself, I gave the call center manager my feedback and reasoning as to why I didn't want to invest any time with them to see how he would respond and give them a chance to correct me if I had an incorrect perception of their company. I explained that I didn't trust them based on my previous experience with the company and that while I am planning on redoing the exterior of my home I wouldn't consider using them because I don't trust them as a company. They may have great products but a company that is willing to be deceptive in its sales approach, is willing to be deceptive in lots of other ways as well.

The response was telling. At first, the manager did an excellent job at restating what my objection was and while a bit over pressured, continued to ask if a Marketing Director could stop by and give me a non-salesman demonstration of their products. I explained that I wasn't going to be making a decision for 3 months and that is when I'd like to contact them again. This is an excellent test because a company that is truly interested in sales situation where the relationship is of value, will be fine with this and call back in a few months when the buying decision is going to be made. Instead, he just hung up on my mid sentence.

My take away is that these may be great people but K-Designers as a company systematically deceives people into purchasing their products (which are good products) and is NOT interested in the customer's experience or relationship with K-Designers any more than they need to in order to secure a sale. I, personally, choose to work with more honorable professionals that match my values and interests.

I listened to their sales pitch for a bathroom tub and shower job. The salesman insisted that their "crew" would take care of all demo and re-installation as well as haul all demo away. He also insisted that they were using travertine for the walls of the shower. When we asked if they were using stone he said " its travertine". Well for starters, the travertine was travertine colored poly vinyl. Next, when the "crew" showed up at 5 pm it was one guy who appeared to be living out of his truck. The first thing he told me was that hauling demo was my responsibility but that he would do it for some under the table cash. Then he needed my help a lot to move things out of the room and re-install them. He took three weeks to do what most would do in 3 days. We even had to call his supervisor to get the floor re done as it was done very poorly. The plumbing still does not work properly. When you want to fill the tub, water comes out the top as well. We were told that it is a gravity thing and we could hire a plumber to tear it out to fix or buy a diverter piece meant for hand held shower heads to keep water from going out the top. When he finished the floor he was insistent that we sign off on it so he could get paid. I am afraid that if I fought it more I would either get a lien put on my house or accrue a lot of lawyer fees. When I called the company about the water issue I was told they were calling the place where the got it and get right back to me. It has been three days. I just want them out of my house as we have been held hostage now for three weeks. If you see their displays at home shows, or they contact you turn away and RUN. They are WAY over priced and use in expensive materials.

I had the exact same experience in 2015. It took me about 15 min to see that their "marketing director" was just a high pressure salesperson. After 2 1/2 hrs of his BS, I finally gave him the boot. I told my wife that he reminded me of the old shows where the housewife was beating the salesperson away with a broom. All other siding estimates took between 30-45 min. The next morning after I met the "marketing director", the "regional director" called me stating that the "marketing director" did not have the authority for the pricing he gave me. But, out of the kindness in his heart, he would give it to me if I signed today. Uh, NO!

I made the mistake of agreeing to set up an appointment with a K designs telemarketer.
Change my mind an cancelled by calling their 800 #, made sure I left my comfirmation #.
Guess what, the sales guy/Marketing director showed up anyway the next day and he was hard to get rid of.
I'd be an idiot to do business with such people!

Larry and his crew are the [censor] of the earth. Mr. Judson, you will someday answer to the Man up above!

Remember, if it sounds too good to be true, it usually is not true! Take care!

Everything said about this company is true, plus more. I was with them for a month last year and initially believed we were giving customers marketing discounts for being a "model home." It's nothing but a high pressure, one-call-close rip off because if you tried to sell their over-priced stuff the traditional way absolutely nobody would buy it. Unless you want to be a scam artist, there is no to way work for this company, let alone make even a dime with them. The only advice for both customers and prospective employees is STEER CLEAR!

I walked away from them because of their deceitful sales pitch. Who do they think they are fooling? Honest companies give you an honest price without all of this promotional home mark down bs. I couldn't get a line item estimate from the marketing director who took up 2-1/2 hours of my time, just a page full of scribbled info. Then 3 days later he calls and says another promotional home deal (like the one he was claiming to offer to me) in the area fell through because they couldn't get financing and did I want to proceed? It smacked of a huge lie. I buy vendor services for a living so I know how estimates of work should be presented. They may have a good product, I don't know, but this sales approach of theirs is deceitful and insulting to intelligent buyers. They are shooting themselves in the foot. Due to their shady approach, how can I trust them?

Replying to comment of A mad consumer

They sent a man with a large black bag to my 95 year old mothers house. She answered the door, (which she should not of done, being a stranger) He insisted that he had an appointment with her. My mom knew that she had no appointment of any such kind. She couldn't hear him to begin with, shes half deaf, and finally had to shut the door in his face to get rid of him. Then he had the nerve to call her a day or two later about 5:30, insisting that she see him the next day, because he had an appointment. My family does construction, and my mom rents her home. This was rude and very very wrong. They should be ashamed of themselves!

I have been recruited twice by K Designers. The way they reached me, was because I posted a resume on MONSTER.COM, so they contacted me. The first time I turned down the job oppurtunity. Both times that the recruiter contacted me they told me that the position includes full benefits, and is a salary + commision position. This is a lie, it is told because...
