Questionable Business Conduct / Ethics
I was a first-time bidder with Julien’s Auctions in January 2022, bidding on items from an online auction of Olivia Newton-John’s personal collection.
At the time I registered to bid, as a first-time bidder, I had to upload a picture of my drivers license and I believe the credit card I would be using. I fulfilled this request; otherwise, my bid would not be honored as stated.
I ended up being winning bidder on January 17th on a lot at $384 (including buyer’s premium but minus shipping).
After well over a month of chasing Julien’s to inquire when my lot would ship, I finally did receive it. They were responsive through email but more reactive than proactive. I appreciated the care in packaging although it was overkill. A ton of white popcorn filling to pack shirts in a box? Yeah…okay.
Fast forward 3 months after the auction to April 15th when I receive an email from Julien’s requesting I upload a picture of my credit card for the transaction back in January. Excuse me…what?
You’re contacting me 3 months after the transaction closed and you have my payment. You even sent me an invoice upon my winning bid back in January. Now you want me to send you a picture of my credit card? Seems pretty shady. At the very least, incompetent on Julien’s part.
If there was an issue, I should have been notified in January - not 3 months later. The person at Julien’s “claims” they requested from me a picture of the credit card back in January but I can find no evidence of this.
I denied Julien’s request for the picture of my credit card. What kind of business does that? One with questionable business ethics / conduct apparently. I will NEVER do business with Julien’s Auctions again.
Desired outcome: None. Develop better business practices/ ethics.
memorabilia
They intentionally list "expected" winning bids way below the actual prices they know will be achieved; they take at least 2 months to send items without informing you, claiming they are "busy" with huge workload; their packaging is terrible, piles of white foam bits come pouring out when you open the box; they refuse to accept address changes after payment even days or weeks before delivery, blaming Fedex when it is in fact Juliens who insist on this; All it needs is a phone call from them to Fedex but they refused; I got a really rude email from Juliens CEO defending this policy and blaming me for putting the wrong address. I told them I would never use them again. Terrible service, questionable policies, arrogant leadership. Never again.
Desired outcome: I hope they change their attitude to clients

I will never buy from Julien's again. I purchased a piece of artwork in an auction on December 2, 2021 for which I was immediately billed for the item plus a OUTLANDISH shipping and handling charge of $342.84!
I have received no communication from Julien's regarding the anticipated arrival of the item. I called and left e-mails only to receive a generic e-mail regarding their shipping policy.
Terrible Customer Service. I am asking my credit card company for a refund.

Janet Jackson auction
I participated in the Janet Jackson birthday charity fundraiser event in May, 2021.
The dumbbells aren't useable. I discovered this upon opening the packaging. I contacted the shipper, and they showed me pics proving that Julien's gave them a broken item to deliver to me. They knowingly sold me dumbbells with a broken pin selector. It's a vintage set, so I have contacted the manufacturer. I hope they will have the replacement in stock. Otherwise I cannot safely use them. Profoundly disappointing, given they were the one and only lot I had my heart set on.
The hooded fur jacket I won is rabbit, not sheared mink. So there's also that. I found out the day after receiving it when I took it to be professionally stored. The furriers informed me of the error.
Also, the bracelet I won that is covered with onyx has loose stones, one of which has already fallen out, two days after I received it. Also, I just stepped on an onyx, thought it was dirt, and threw it away. A moment later I realized what the distinctive shape and color meant, and I immediately fished it back out of the trash.
I will never do this again.
Also, on top of all the other fees. the shipping is another point of price gouging. I had to pay $3, 000 in shipping, and the $400 in insurance I bought doesn't protect me, because the shipper isn't at fault with any of this.

T shirt sold thru the auction and misteriously stolen
I consigned a 2 T shirts owned and worn by Freddie mercury waited 6 months for the sale got a catalog with my items in it auction date comes June 16 and they sold one of them for 31250 I waited until July 4 and looked for an email found one dated June 6 where Darren says his warehouse got broken into and my shirt was stolen and that shirt sold wasn't mine it was another client that consigned it wow how I waited 6 monhts to sell mine and he found a new shirt in 14 days before the auction and altered the description on the website and sold under my item number im suing this guy and his shady operation dont do business with them.
I find the best time to bid is when the family is around they keep an eye on stuff all auction places are a bit of a rio off time gets them all they might get the money now but at the end they will lose it dont buy autograph stuff unless the person is still living when they die no no touch MJ is a big rip off on signatures if your buying from some actor no one really cares about u should do ok
non payment of sale proceeds
I sold a rare piece of Michael Jackson memorabilia though Julien's and have not been paid the full sale price. I am still owed a significant amount of money and Juliens have not provided any indication on when I will receive the full payment for the sale of my item. It's been almost 3 months since the auction. What's the point of "selling" an item with Julien's if you don't actually get paid for it? I now have to take legal action to recover what I'm owed. The worst part of this is that they have admitted to knowing the buyer has a history of not paying on time, but they allowed them to register and bid in the first place- why? This has been a shockingly bad experience and to think I'm actually being charged by them for their ‘service' is a joke. I would never sell anything with Julien's again, let alone anything of value.
This auction is rip off
Juliens Auctions is real rip off. I have also tried to buy some stuff from the auction, but the owner ripped me off. She asked to pay for the entrance fee, for bids and when I almost won the item, she took money from my card. When the auction was finished, I noticed that this company took money from me. I called them and said that it was mistake. I requested to return money back three times and they still haven’t done it.
