I have had an Elder Beerman credit card for several years and had no problems until recently. I did not receive a statement/email for payment due during February and Elder Beerman decided to turn a late payment into my credit report. I found this out when I was applying for credit with another company. I immediately paid EB online and made several attempts to contact them, only getting negative feedback. I had them to close my account because I cannot trust their billing system.

I just called to activate my card. After verifying my information, the rep proceeded to tell me about a credit card insurance policy that would cost $1.99 per $100 of balance on the card. After he finished his spiel, ( I could not get a word in because he read a bunch of giberish). I told him I was not interested. I told him I did not want to discuss further. He became arrogant and asked me why. I again told him I did not want the coverage. He was very rude and finally stopped talking when I said, "Wow, you sure are a good customer service rep". I then just hung up. If this coverage ends up on my statement, I will not pay it. For a new customer, this rep sure doesn't know how to impress me.

I just had a return and waited 2 weeks because my sister got me a pair of jeans on her credit card. I thought after waiting 2 whole weeks I would be able to just get cash back, being that there was literally no jeans that fit me correctly. So, the lady at the Dayton, Ohio store denied me cash so I got something I really didn't care for AND had to fork out some more cash for it. Also, there was a shirt that was on there and paid 34.99 for it, it was on sale for 19.99, she ALSO denied me the price difference! There's a lot of competition out there, Kohl's, with whom I'm NEVER EVER had a problem with a return OR with an item that I paid full price for then it went on sale...they gave me cash back for the price difference and it didn't matter how long it had been. Elder-Beerman will NEVER get my business again! The girls were extremely rude! Kohl's has all my business from now on. Elder-Beerman needs to change their ways! (or their employees) CUSTOMER COMES FIRST! Or guess what...you lose business! FYI this was the store located on Dorothy Lane in Kettering, OH.

I have sent three payments to Elder Beerman in the past 2-3 months and all have been returned although I have a balance of $605. These bills were paid on line. I have been using on line banking for over a year with NO problems. When I called the HSBC 800 # all the blame was placed on my bank. I went to the bank and got a copy of how the checks were routed and the last three were routed just as the last accepted payments had been. So whats up?
