I would advise against spending the money, to be honest. I don't know what your situation is, but you would come out cheaper if you just found a local community college and took the courses they offer.

I know that some schools offer a diploma program in addition to the equivalency certificate testing. I would check around your area for that before spending a few hundred on something that might not be worth anymore than the paper it's printed on.

I have an extremely serious problem with unusual payments to Belford University since 2008, and I became in so much debt just to fulfill their endless demands. I have a citizenship from a Gulf country although I’m originally from that country. I’m a teacher, but I think you know how much teachers make. I’m also the head of the family, and I have so many responsibilities.

I don’t know how they got my email, but in 2008, they’ve sent me an email saying that they could help me achieve a PhD depending on my work credentials. They asked me very specific questions, such as (my highest diploma, the year I achieved it, my field of study and work, how long I’ve been working, the levels and materials I teach, and so on). They even asked me for a copy of my accreditation and diploma, and after that, they contacted me saying that they advise me to get a PhD in Education since it’s my field and line of work, so I chose Educational Administration. That’s when my NIGHTMARE started.

The endless and increasing payments began: for the diploma, for the documents, for affiliation, for accreditation, for legalization, for the ministry of higher education, and so many other things. When I doubted them being a legitimate college, the sent me many documents proving their accreditation from the American colleges and many other legal documents. I was a fool for believing them.

I kept telling them that I don’t make much money and that I have a family to take care of; I told them that I’m borrowing money to pay for their demands and that I’m in much debt because of that. Sometimes they would give me a “discount”. The payments did not end; at the contrary, they’ve increased the amount, and every time there’s a new reason for payment.

Three weeks ago, I received a phone call from someone pretending to be from the Ministry of Higher Education of the Gulf country where I reside and hold the citizenship. I believed him because he had serious information about my education and all diplomas. That person asked me to provide him with specific documents, which I did not have. Then he asked me if I agree to be on a trio-call with the person in charge at Belford University. We called Dean Anderson (the person who was in charge of my case), and he said that he would provide all necessary documents, but he asked me to pay a fee for that. Of course I was so scared and I had to accept; otherwise, my PhD diploma would be cancelled and I would go to jail for having a fake diploma. I was asked to pay around seven thousand American dollars, when I make 3, 000$ a month but end up with 200$ after paying all bills. I had to borrow money to pay them, and I swear it will take me a year to repay my debt. That was on May 14, and that was the last time I hear from them. All my emails are being blocked, I cannot log into my college account/status, and the website page doesn’t open with me. Nothing I do to reach them works, and I’ve been in the dark since then.

I know that I cannot blame anyone for my mistakes and stupidity, nor can I return the money they embezzled from me. However, those people turned my life into deep misery, and I don’t wish anybody to be in my shoes. If there’s a way to stop those people or anyone like them, I would really appreciate it, and I salute the person who would do it.

I must say that I work for a University and it truly saddens me that you have some schools out here like this that manipulate and confuse people. This is so unethical- the main thing is how on earth can you get a degree in 15 days? that doesn't even sound possible so that should automatically strike someone as WTF- I would suggest you ask them if they are regionally accredited which they aren't- and you should do your homework and find out the difference between a regionally accredited degree- also i would ask them for their statistics( graduates per year/ and how many are employed after they graduate/also what is the rate of pay on average after they graduate) I think these people need to be reported to the BBB this is just sickening to see-
