Complaint Details
In 2023 I took a 1960 MGA 1600 to be repaired for a collision incident when I was involved in a hit & run accident. There was also some mechanical problems that I wanted to be looked at. It took about 6 months to have the work completed including the mechanical issues. However, after picking up the car I did not make it ten miles before the car stopped working leaving me stranded. Colvin did pick up the car & took it back to the shop. A electronic ignition was installed. However, the electronic ignition was not installed properly & basically caused damage to my distributor. I was required to spend a considerable amount of money fixing it, Colvins malfeasance caused me to be stranded & cost me an additional charge over $250 to tow the car back to my home. Additionally, the front Bumbet that Colvin installed on the vehicle the chrome had began to peel off the bumper. Finally, Ken Colvin came to my home to view the damage & to discuss the previous mechanical issues. In this conversation Ken promised to fix the bumper, & to refund all mechanical parts & labor. Please note the attached text messages sent by Colvin on Ken’s behalf. “. We are going to accept the parts that were bad from the MGA. In exchange. We are going to connect with Petronix for a refund to owner. Whatever we collect from Petronix we will put towards the labor and parts. Colvin Automotive will refund the total of the parts and labor that was charged to the mechanical invoice. Colvin will also replace the damaged front bumper and arrange for towing if needed.” Ken also said that Colvin woiuld reach out to Pertronix to get a refund on the electronic ignition. Colvin’s NEVER made any attempt to get a refund & I finally secured the refund authorization from b Pertronix’s Now instead of honoring the refund they PROMISED they made an offer that doesn’t even cover the costs I had to spend to fix my car I have attached photos of spark plug wires that the Colvin Mechanic butchered
