Bruce Hafner and the board of fire commissioners have taken it upon themselves to cancel the health insurance of 5 men who have worked for the district over 30 years. A district handbook stated that these men and their families would receive health insurance as long as they lived. In January of 2014, Bruce, the bald headed ### and other commissioners, cancelled their insurance. The employees who are employed now, will also lose their health insurance when they retire. It was more important for Bruce Hafner to purchase $130, 000 worth of heart monitoring equipment which wasn't needed, rather then pay for health insurance to the men that gave 30 years of their lives to the district. Bruce Hafner's EMT skills are about as good as his commissioner skills. He attempted to revive a person that was obviously dead for hours. If you are looking to be unappreciated and f****d over, apply now at the Cold Spring Harbor Fire District.

Disgusting Behavior
Bruce Hafner and the board of fire commissioners have taken it upon themselves to cancel the health insurance of 5 retirees that have worked for the district for over 30 years. Each of these men have serious health issues and depend on their health insurance. They were hired in the 1970's and a district handbook states that the employees and their families would receive health insurance for the rest of their lives. In January of 2014, the board of fire commissioners decided to cancel the insurance. This is the thanks they get for many years of hard work and service they gave to the district. The current employees are also being f****d out of their health insurance when they retire. It was more important for this piece of ###, Bruce Hafner, to purchase $130, 000 worth of heart monitoring equipment which wasn't needed, than to pay health insurance for the employees that were promised health insurance. If you enjoy getting taken advantage of, lied to, and getting f****d over, work for the Cold Spring Harbor Fire District. I don't think these ###s realize how they have destroyed the lives of these 5 men and their families. Mr. Hafner's EMT skills are about as good as his commissioner skills. Nothing like trying to resuscitate a man that has been dead for hours. You suck Bruce Hafner. May you burn in hell!

If I was a Cold Spring Harbor Resident, I would be pretty upset that the fire district had spent $90, 000 on lawyer representation fees, in the last year.

2015: Is that [censored] Bruce Hafner still Chairman of the board? We thought that bi-polar schmuck, John Parker, would have taken the helm and run the establishment into the ground. The community has discussed having non-fire department residents being placed on the board, but no one wants to get involved with the district due to the past history of incompetence. Years ago, dedicated members to the department, and district, ran the district like clockwork. Progress was made and no one was hurt. Now, the bottom of the barrel has been chosen to run our fire district. Why bother attending and district meetings? These clowns are going to do what they want anyway. The board of fire commissioners is atrocious.
The Cold Spring Harbor Fire District board of commissioners is like listening to two drunks arguing over the bar bill on the Titanic.
2015 brings on another year with Chairperson Bruce Hafner and his band of puppets. Cold Spring Harbor should expect another year of poor use of funds, lawsuits and hearings filed against the fire district, the purchase of unnecessary equipment, and incompetence. I am ashamed of the conduct of our fire district in the last few years. It is Mr. Hafner's quest to make the lives of the volunteer members, district employees, and residents, miserable. His control over the board of fire commissioners is disgusting and a charade. A great shame to hard working and dedicated individuals. May God be with us.

I would be the employee mentioned in the post by Wilton Woman. I would be interested to know where you get your facts from? I think the residents of Cold Spring Harbor should know how their tax dollars are being spent. Thousands of unnecessary dollars are being spent on law representation, when the money should be spent on protecting the residents.
Yes, my unemployment insurance was cancelled by the fire district. They claimed I voluntarily quit my job. After three postponements by the fire district, an administrative judge from the Unemployment Insurance Appeal Board, overruled the claim by the district, and gave me back my unemployment insurance. Two weeks later, Commissioner Bruce Hafner appealed the judges decision. As per my lawsuits against the district, you can read about it in Newsday.
