Failure to provide proper education
I was enrolled in the Network Systems Administrator Course at CDI South Campus but I had to stop going due to the school ignoring my complaints.
1) Instructor telling the students to just read the textbook. We all know that just reading the textbook is not going to give the student the answers they require. Also when someone is not understanding something and asked to have it clarified the instructor would just say it is in your textbook. Also jumping to a whole pile of information that is not necessary for the topic that is being studied.
2) One of the other students He/she is not grasping the information in the textbooks well is now failing but the instructor or school faculty will not speak to him/her about it.
3) I had to ask for a transfer because of the instructor not teaching us the material properly and not telling us the truth about the information required for the certification exams that we have to pay for out of pocket. As well as telling us that we do not need to know the terminaologies for the certification exams but at the end of the Network+ phase tells us that we need to know the terminologies for the Certification Exam. So basically telling us two different stories.
4) The last but not least of all is the 900.00 charge just to transfer Campuses. I have already paid the tuition well they want 900.00 more just to transfer to the North East Calgary Campus.
5) When I left a message for the Student Relations person and she returned my phone call after three messages she just told me to pay the 900.00 and did not even allow me to fully explain the circumstances as to why she was being informed of the phone call.
6) I had to take the 6000, 00 disbursement for March early...well when I went into a meeting with the Director and the Finance Officer I was told by the Director that I was wrong for asking Student Finance In Alberta to send me the disbursement early without consulitng the school. I feel that I should not have to consult anyone when it is me who has to pay it all back.
Glad that you enjoy it but you know what all campuses are not the same. This is a complaints board and we all have the right to voice our opinions about things.
We as people who are paying for this we need to take a stand and do not back down because as a human we have the right to Education.
Poor educational instruction/ waste of money
I would like to point out that CDI College are nothing but money hungry thieves because I had been having trouble with the instructor of the Network Systems Administrator Course well I was told to just read the textbooks, but we all know that people cannot just learn from textbooks alone. I have brought it to the attention of Director well he just ignored my complaints and sent me away. I was in a meeting and was told that me taking the March Disbursement for my student loan was going over there head. Well to me that was wrong of them to say that because it is me who has to pay it back not them. I am quite upset about this. then on the tuesday after the meeting when I went to school I was told that I got my transfer that i requested to the north east campus in calgary, ab BUT i had to pay them $918.00 in order to get the paper work started. Well to me its a crock of bull crap because all I was wanting to do is transfer to another campus to maybe get more out of the course than I was being taught at the South Campus. My goal with this complaint is to get a whole crew together and get this organization investigated and have them stopped from taking innocent peoples money.
Waste of time money!
This school is the biggest waste of time, the teachers don't do anything other then go on lunch and breaks ALL the time, they don't help, there was a teacher at CDI SOUTH (Calgary ab) that told a student " if you don't no how to read the book then i can't help you" they don't care about anything other then you paying them! there was another girl in my class that got really sick and had to miss a few days, and she fell behind 2 finals and two projects, and they said they were going to kick her out, if she didn't finish them in two weeks, while she was moving on the the next thing, they don't help at all the teacher is always late, cares more about her hair make and whatever else then helping us out. this school is a joke don't waste your time or money the list goes on and on! PLEASE DONT WASTE YOU'R MONEY WASTE OF TIME AND BIG JOKE!

i lost around 5000$ for tuition and hope that NOONE WILL EVER GO TO THIS CDI SCHOOL EVER AGAIN. IT IS A WASTE OF TIME AND MONEY.
My name is David Cao. I recently took a course in PSW and they took me out because they thought I misbehaved in a bad way; resting in the locker room, inmitating playing baseball, complaints from supervisor that the director of care from cawrthra gradens kicked me out, including the campus director.
CDI is a waste of money.
I find it interesting because these would be the same complaints any student would make about certain professors at their schools. I've heard people say the same thing about their university prof so I don't think that is unique to this school. There will always be profs who are horrible and ones that are good. I had profs & TAs in University that couldn't speak english and some that did but you still couldnt understand a word they say. You just deal with it and study harder.
I'm very pleased with my education and had a great experience at CDI College. I took the dental assisting program in Surrey. Before I applied, I did my research and learned that the program was well known and well-respected for the success of its graduates. I also found out I could get into CDI without having to be on a waiting list.
My instructors knew their stuff and were very supportive. But it was still a lot of hard work. They could teach us, but it was our responsibility to learn what we needed to learn. I knew that if I was going to make a career out of it, I had to apply myself because no one was going to do it for me.
Your education is what you make it, regardless of where you go to school. I believe my education was a good investment in my future and can only say good things about my time at CDI

Waste of time/money
I really regret going to CDI College, but as a confused teen I really didn't know what to do with my life after highschool. So, I heard CDI College offered great programs, and that they helped you find a placement all in less than 1 year. "Great" I thought...boy was I wrong.
Here we are 4 years later and I still don't have a job in what I studied. I took the 8 month acc&payroll admin course, cost $11, 000 and let me tell you, I took accounting in highschool (up to grade 11) and I didn't learn anything new at CDI (except for payroll, but I'm sure that's covered in grade 12). This school gave me absolutely NO confidence for entering the field, it was like joke, everyone left early, sometimes even the teacher didn't know what she was talking about, we ended later than scheduled because of CONSTRUCTION going on in the college so we were cancelled for 2 weeks because of dangerous fumes from the construction!
I now really wished I had gone to a REAL community college, it would had been cheaper and I would have gotten a real education. A correspondence course would have been better since 80% of the time I spent at CDI was with a textbook and a computer in frot...I hardly got any teacher student time like they promised.
I'm writing this so no one makes the same mistake I did by going to this joke of a college. I wish I had read some reviews before applying, but it's too late for me, please save yourself from CDI aka Everest!

The Chi collage location refuses to give me my T2202 for more then three months now.
In 2016 I was enrolled as Accounting and payroll administrator at CDI college edmonton Alberta Downton in hope to get a job after l finished my course but till now am still working in the warehouse and paying tuition fees l never benefited from as a single mother of 4,something needs to be done a out this so called college of a school.
Going to college was my dream to become something in life but at CDI college Ajax campus there promised you a lot this that and things. But by the end semester you are on you own

I am just attending the class but no access to material through NPI, as CDI college not complete the registration to NPI. Teacher just come to the class and making the attendance but not lesson provided.

Long long waiting to hear back from anyone… have enrolled in doc online. After waiting and forwarding from one to another representative for couple of months ended up to termination and pay more than half of the fees for the college. Really disturbing and stressful.
Cdi is the worst 5 months and i am still getting run around from them. They had the nerve to ask if wanted enroll again.
I would must definitely not recommand Cdi College to anyone . Please dont wase your time and money!
CDI college in Montreal is also looting students. Everyone is getting a diploma without even studying. Teachers are illiterate and knows nothing. And don't even get me started on the exams. Even a 5th standard student can pass it. All this is a scam. CDI college is running a scam to earn easy money and refusing to study thereafter.

Yes ladies. Thieves, liars, staff knows nothing when asked a question, so unorganized, no paid placement for 310 hours so work full time and receive$$$$$0000000 NOTHING…and the list goes on and on and on

I have experienced such an extreme level of deceit, disorganization, program illiterate instructors, CLEAR and documented discrimination (when pointed out, access to my email was suddenly revoked) - I believe, to restrict access to such evidence. I have been repeatedly ignored when I’ve asked for a copy of my contract, changing my schedule one day before starting classes upon almost every single course… no course outlines until a day before exams. Have been through THREE administrators since starting- an attempt to escape accountability of their actions. I’m in absolute hell and NEED to be part of this law suit. Am in business and digital marketing in AB. It’s absolutely madness and I’ve tried over and over, using any approach to just get it over with- But this cannot be allowed to continue.

Wish I would have seen this BEFORE I spent thousands of dollars! They are NOT recognized. Employer’s don’t seem to care that you have taken courses at CDI. If your lucky you will make 2 bucks more then minimum wage.
I did learn new things BUT Please don’t quit a great paying job to take these courses. A ton of money and work for nothing.

My fiancé spent $20,000 on a Logistics in Supply Chain Management course in Edmonton, had teacher that didn’t care about the program, was put in an apprenticeship that literally had him make cold calls for an LED Sign company LOL.He got his “diploma” in 2019 and he has never been able to get a job in that related field since, but paying those student loans every month since! CDI is complete trash.

You all have saved my life! I have been looking at different schools that offer dental assisting programs and of course cdi popped up as having one. I went to a meeting and felt very pressured to apply, the woman told me spots were filling up in the course and before I knew it she had printed off an application form and was getting me prepared to sign up for a student loan with them. Then I found out about all these forums and I realized that what I was experiencing was very close to what a lot of people said they experienced when they signed up. I read pages of reviews and stopped my application with them. All of this happened within the span of a week. I told the advisor that I wasn't going to move ahead and she has been calling, emailing and texting me non stop for a week! Finally I had to tell her that I was enrolled in another school and she finally stopped. My course was going to cost $23, 000 for 10 months which is absurd! Do not go to cdi period, anywhere in canada. They are not accredited (they will tell you that they are) and in a short amount of time you will be out thousands of dollars and will have wasted time that could have been spent in a reputable and accredited institution. I cannot stress enough how lucky I feel to have come across all these forums, I really feel that all of you have helped me avoid what would have been the biggest mistake of my life. Thank you everyone, and for those who are confused or don't know where to go, my advice is meet with many different schools (make sure they are accredited) compare costs and the lengths of the program you are interested in and avoid private schools. Reputable and accredited universities, colleges/ community colleges are the way to go.

Administration diploma program there and yes it wasn’t worth it I couldn’t get a job anywhere it was difficult and they wouldn’t help me either !

I too have had my life ripped away with any chance to make a better life for my kids and I the story plays out alot like why I'm hearing from so many other people they have crippled my life to the point of not even being able to work to avoid paying these [censored] 21 000 for absolutely nothing another thing the goverment is lieing on t4s about how long I attended was there under 3 weeks and still on the hook for all the money I'm beyond broken by all of this and can't believe after all the trouble they have caused to so many people lives how they stay operating is what I'd like to know ? I'd like to be apart of this suit if I may as it's about time this place shuts down as we all know there's no education being offered here
I was at CDI and 4 weeks in, I got a letter that I got in at SAIT, so I have to drop out. The biggest scam of all is that I had to pay half of the tuition fee because I dropped out, I didn't learn a thing out of those weeks I was there. And I'm still having a hard time paying off my student loans until now, That 10K would have been my two-semester at SAIT which gave me a more useful education.
Cdi college scams and misleads students and doesn't provide some with textbooks then kicks Them out of school for failing the class because one was not provided never will I recommend this school to anyone
And just an fyi they barley take calls considering I had to call another school just to launch a complaint
I was taking the Medical office administration course online and due to medical reasons i had to drop the course. I was quoted that i would have to pay back $4400 as i only completed 3 weeks of the course. Well yesterday i received a final notice to my email that i am in arrear and if i dont pay a balance of 9700 I would go to collections. Mind you i have never received an invoice and there is no way i owe 9700. I have emailed multiple times and no one has emailed me back regarding this. I am not very happy with their customer service or this school for that matter. I would never recommend CDI college
I never even got to take the course online because I didn’t know how to navigate anything and now I owe over $4000 without an actual opportunity to get my education. I have sent numerous emails and nobody has offered any real help, someone should’ve helped me and they could’ve. I am now in more debt and still no education from CDI.
I’m a former cdi student an honestly I just wanted to keep them behind me such an experience in a education ment for myself to have a better life with my kid well upon completing my corse at cdi an altercation with an instructor has left me pay a student loan I finished the corse in! An because the truth hurts now I’m trying to get into something different it’s holding me back from being able to begin my education again! Cdi 2013 is when I’ve finished an it’s still bringing me nothing but problems!
I want to Pursue against this college as well! This is a horrible school, the teachers shouldn’t be aloud to teach, and they never give the right information

Little did I know when I applied to CDI it was actually Reeves and I didn’t find that out until first day of class… how is it possible to do that, or to even take only 4 days to go from initial contact, to signing documents and apply for student loans. That can’t be legal ..
Oh my god, I cannot express how badly this has screwed me up. I agree that they need to be shut down and the Government should be sued for even giving us loans to attend this crap school
I am being expelled for attempting to transfer to online. This is a small drop in the bucket compared to the bright shiny education they sold me with all the bells and whistles only to have instructors that don't know the curriculum, small intimate class sizes of 30+ when I was sold on a maximum of 12, no hands on training ... the list goes on and on.
