I brought a used car to an independent mechanic at a dealership within the required 5 mi. radius of the seller dealership for inspection prior to purchase. I complained of a grating noise in the front. Mechanic’s inspection revealed the only urgent issue was the “alignment”, recommended front wheel bearing, brake shield and rotor repair. Complaint about noise was dismissed. I purchased the vehicle on the strength of this inspection on the same day, 10/18/21.
Noise got worse. I brought the car to my mechanic. He wouldn’t let me drive it off the lot. The car is irreparable due to rust of the chassis. Im now stuck with 10K invested in parts that I can salvage at my expense. Worse, the car could have caused fatalities at high speed. This was my son’s first car. He could have died and caused the death of others. Check out the pictures. Would you want me driving in front of you on the highway when the car snaps in half?
Desired outcome: I want the dealership to acknowledge the harm they caused and inspect vehicles like people's lives depend on them. I don't want anyone to die because they trusted this place.
