On the evening of January 6/2022 at 8:15 pm to 8:40 pm I was parked at an adjacent business to the Esso Gas Station located on Dundas and Veteran's Memorial Road where I observed an Esso employee emptying garbage containers and replacing the bags with empty bags. This in itself is not the issue.
The problem occurred when the employee took the recycling containers from the stand that is there for customers to recycle their plastic jug containers and then put them into the same garbage bag that was for garbage only double knotting the bag, thereby circumventing and relegating the efforts of environmentally conscious customers to no purpose whatsoever. This reprehensible behavior is unconscionable and should never be tolerated, and watching this was like a slap in the face. This individual who was an immigrant obviously could not care less about our policy to not add anymore to our landfills, especially when the containers can be recycled. One wonders how long this behavior has been going on at this location.
Esso Canada has installed a long upright stand at each pumping station for customers to take their containers and place onto the stand rather than into the garbage, the stand even has a recycling symbol at the base of each pole to clearly let customers know that is what the stand is for.
Your security cameras at each pump will verify what I am saying is the truth, accurate. After he took the first two bags to the back and put them in the garbage bin, he came back to the pumps to retriever the other two bags as there are 4 separate garbage cans. I approached the individual and asked him why he was placing plastic recyclable containers into the garbage bags. He didn't know what to say at first, and then came back with the lame excuse that he separates the containers in the back. After I confronted him, he took the remaining bags to the front of the store entrance, and there he opened them up to remove the plastic recyclable containers. He did this because he got caught. Whether he went to the back and separated the other bags from the recycling, I do not know.
Desired outcome: This does not need to be brought out into the limelight on YouTube and the media and drag Esso's reputation and good name through the mud.
