My daughter attends college and lives in a residence building that is right next to a Mr. Lube location in Ontario. She brought her older model Honda Civic in for an oil change earlier this week, and they convinced her that her car also needed an engine flush @ $29.99, a KLEENFLO friction shield @ $34.99, fuel system cleaner @ $139.99, and a "premium" transmission service @ $269.99. She went in asking for just an oil change and was told that her car required these extra services due to the high mileage and age of her car and that not having them done would risk the safety and continued running of her car. Of course, as an inexperienced young woman, she did not realize these services were not required or the price of them and reluctantly agreed when pushed by the service person. She was shocked when she received a bill for over $600 for an oil change and a few extra recommended services. While I understand that technically, she did agree to these services, they were clearly recommended to her under false pretenses, as the car was not even properly inspected. When we called to inquire about why these additional services were recommended, they indicated it was due to the age and mileage of the car. We requested to speak to the owner, but he refused. We have regular service completed by a local mechanic, and I can assure you that none of these services were required. In addition, the cost of these services is astronomically higher than at any regular auto shop. What a disgusting business practice to scam young women who don't know any better.
Desired outcome: Refund of the services that were not required (engine flush @ $29.99, a KLEENFLO friction shield @ $34.99, fuel system cleaner @ $139.99, and a "premium" transmission service @ $269.99)
