Busey Bank review: Lack of payment of interest earned and questionable banking practices.

Busey Bank unilaterally closed my accounts (I protested) on December 19,2025. On December 29,2025 I finally received a statement covering the closing date thru November 24,2025. I had over $1000 interest earned in a premium savings account according to the November 24,2025 statement. The bank refuses pay the interest earned saying the account was closed before interest cycle concluded. I informed them that the bank had unilaterally closed the account not me. I was told that was my problem not theirs. Please note that it was a savings account not a CD. The bank supervisor claims it was their right not to pay. I CALL IT THEFT!

Secondly, I am a snowbird. My home branch is in southern IL. On December 15, 2025 Busey Bank locked my debit card and denied my access to online banking. I repeatedly assured the bank that my debit card charges were not fraudulent and I had initiated all online transfers of cash from the accounts. THERE WERE NO FRAUDULENT TRANSACTIONS. I agreed to sign any documentation to release the bank from any liability. The bank rep stated access to my funds would be available once the bank finished the fraud investigation. I informed them that I needed online access to pay bills. The response was that was my problem. Numerous phone calls were placed protesting the locked debit cards and denied access to online banking. During the final conversation with a bank rep, it was stated that I could go to a Florida branch of Busey Bank to gain access to my money (an 8 hour round trip). Having heard a variety of statements from the bank rep, I asked to record the verification that I could gain access to my money before the trip. The bank rep hung up. I called the Sarasota Busey bank branch stating I was on the way down to secure access to my funds. While in the car on the way to Sarasota, I received a phone call from the Sarasota branch stating my accounts were closed. I was told that a cahier's check for the total funds in all accounts would be sent by UPS. NO signature or identification was required to gain custody of the check (over $370000). This is a poor business practice to say the least. No documentation was for the amount of the check was provided. Again repeated phone calls were required before I received documentation 10 days after the accounts were closed. I believe the bank handled the entire incident in an unprofessional manner.
