I had a scheduled CT scan of chest and abdomen/pelvis with contrast on Friday, April 30th at 8:00. I have cancer. I have had it done there 3 other times with no problems. I called earlier in the week and asked if they could take my blood work after they inserted IV for the contrast. They told me I would have to have the lab call on Friday to make sure. I arrived and went to the lab and informed the lady if she could call Radiology and ask if they could do my bloodwork too. She called and told me they told her no because there was no supervisor in Radiology. So I let the lab do my blood work, one needle stick. I then proceeded to Radiology and waited for someone to come get me. I think her name was Victoria, but not sure. The other times I had this done I was given my jug to drink and then she would insert IV. But Victoria insisted on inserting IV first. I asked if I could have a gown and she replied we haven't used gowns since covid, I replied yes you have because I was here 3 other times last year and I got a gown because I have a zipper on my sports bra, but she insisted that I didn't. It took her about 15 minutes to get IV in and then she sent me to waiting area to drink my solution. I got up three times and asked if anyone was coming to get me and she replied yes, it was like 1- 1/2 hour since I finished the solution. Finally got in and the girl goes to insert contrast into my IV and says oh oh, so she went and got Victoria and she tried to do something, then she took that IV out and proceeded to put it in my right arm that didn't work so then she was going to try again and told her to stop and go get someone else that knows what they are doing. I was crying at that point. I've been through radiation, chemotherapy and 26 infusions of immunotherapy and said this is the worst experience of my life. Below are pictures of my left and right arm. Told my dr. that I never want to go to Brunswick again for a CT scan. It's bad enough that I have cancer but to go through that was ridiculous. At least the cancer nurses in Strongsville know that if they miss once they get someone else to do it. Below is what both arms looked like the evening of April 30, May 1st, May 2nd and May 3rd. They did finally get a paramedic from the ER room to come and insert the IV correctly. The lab did a fine job and no bruises like Victoria did to me.
