Carol Ohlund of Broadway Darling Ragamuffins sold my family two beautiful Ragamuffin kittens that were born in July 2016. She shipped them to us in the cargo of a United jet, which we now hate that they were shipped this way and not carried in the cabin via courier. Shortly after receiving them both, one started to exhibit strange signs and behaviors, weight loss, and other issues. Carol kept telling us nothing was wrong, and that we are just overthinking things. I came home one day to our kitten collapsing in front of me, and I rushed her to our vet. The vet did a great job assessing possible issues, as our girl was having strong neurological symptoms. When we told Carol this, she began to insult our vets and us saying that we were wrong.
The problems got worse and worse, all the way Carol telling us she's fine and probably just got into something. We felt from the beginning this was odd behavior of her, and she was probably trying to cover herself, as her warranty states that she would only cover for hereditary/congenital conditions, not if a cat got into something and died.
Our kitten eventually lost control of her legs and her bowel movements, and we had to rush her to the emergency specialist clinic. After MRI's, they found that she was born with and afflicted with Hydrocephalus, which caused her cerebellum to herniate out the back of her skull. The only way to possibly save her was to undergo surgery.
Carol got completely ugly with us from this point, demanding that we could not put her down and we had to do everything we could for her. We rushed her up to MSU for specialty surgery, where the excellent vets there had a suspicion of FIP. The only problem with this is that it could not be confirmed unless intensive tests were completed. She did not have time to wait for the tests however without surgery, as the herniation was life threatening.
We went through with surgery and it was completely successful. Her brain pressure was relieved and she was recovering. Days later however, we lost her, confirmed to be from the FIP virus.
We've tried to get our money back and Carol wants nothing to do with that. She refuses all help to us, and even warned us about getting other cats from her cattery in the same lineage. After she has been ugly with us, insulting, and downright offensive in how she's treated us in the grieving process, we do not want any replacement kittens from her litter, just wanted to get our money back and end the relationship. I am pursuing counsel against her, however I feel everyone should know of the experience we have had with this "breeder". This is a money business for her, and it is plainly obvious. Not all breeders are seen this way, however I would avoid Broadway Darling Ragamuffins at all cost.

and to pay a fine of $1, 500.00 to CFA. Respondent is suspended from all CFA services until the fine and
restitution have been paid in full.

Anyone that post negative lies that impact Broadway Darling RagaMuffins and Carol Ohlund will be added to the law suit now in progress against Alex and his wife. In addition anyone who has current post that contain slander or lies against Carol Ohlund will be added to the suit if not removed immediately. This has become a very serious legal matter and prosicution to the fullest extent of the law will be done .
From the Breeder, Broadway Darling RagaMuffins. My primary concern is now and has allways been the health of my cattery. I have been breeding for 5yrs with no complaints or health issues. When I first heard of the sick kitten I requested it be sent back to me, this is clearly stated in my contract. The kitten was not too sick to fly if it had been done immediately as I requested. The kitten was diagnosed with fluid on the beain, this only occurs with severe trauma to the head. (Per a veterinarian ). Nicholas did not have a answer for this happening. The stress he put the kitren through could have caused the Fip virus to trigger. Without a clear diagnosis from his vet I offered to replace the kitten, again clearly stated in my contract. His other kitten from me was fine and still is doing well. After a second kitten sold to Suzie S. Became sick and she refused to pay the veterinarian bill I took the kitten back and cared for it. The kitten did die and my vet believed it to be fip. I was devistated and couldn't understand why this was happening. My vet explained that 80% or higher of all cats cary the Corona virus and have no problem. If the Corona virus becomes active it turns into Fip. Fip is 100% fatal. Fip is random and can happen to any cat at anytime. About a couple months latter my breeding male became very sisk .I took him to my vet and we concluded it was Fip. That's when we knew what happened. He must have been shedding the virus when breeding the past two litters. My vet had no idea what triggered it in him.Fip is not detectable untill the cat becomes sick. I have offered the five family's that were affected a new kitten of their choice. They have a full year to select from any litter. Two families selected a new kitten and also bought an additional kitten at one third the cost. The kittens are all healthy and thriving. I have a healthy home and healthy kittens again. This was a very unusual case as the breeding male had produced healthy babies for 4years. If the families that are complaining would have followed the contract they signed they would have a new healthy kitten. I can not help a buyer if they don't follow what they signed. If anyone would like to see the signed contracts I'm more than happy to send it to you. I hope this will assure new families of the honesty and transparecy of Broadway darling ragamuffin cats . Alex has received a letter from my attorney to cease and desist all contact with clients of Carol Ohlund. He is in litigation and will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. Contacting him may result in being added to the litigation.
