I first signed up for Broadjam close to ten years ago and used it only briefly. About a year and a half ago, I decided to give it another try and spent a couple of months submitting music through the platform. To my surprise, one of my tracks was actually “selected” for an exclusive opportunity.
What followed raised every red flag I have.
It took nearly a month before I heard anything beyond the initial selection notice. When I finally reached out to ask who the opportunity was with — because I always research where my music is going before agreeing to anything — I was given the name of a music publisher that I could not find anywhere online. No website, no listings, no professional footprint at all. That alone made me uneasy.
Eventually, I received a kind email from Roy Elkins, explaining:
“***** is a company that I started with partners from LA. We are not planning any marketing of the company other than Broadjam at the moment.”
At that point, the lack of transparency was too big to overlook. Being asked to hand over music — something I’ve poured time, energy, and emotion into — without clear information about who’s behind the deal or where it’s going is simply not acceptable.
Between my first signup and this more recent attempt, I’ve probably spent somewhere between $200 and $300 on Broadjam. In the end, the whole experience left me feeling like it was just one more music “opportunity” site where you end up wasting both time and money, with very little genuine visibility or accountability on the other side.
Recommendation: I'd save your money for something else!
