I purchased a Toro Time Cutter zero turn mower with a Briggs and Stratton 8240 Exi 724cc engine in late July 2025.
After the first operation of around an hour and a half, I noticed a pool of oil on the plate under the drain plug and with further inspection I found that it was dripping from a crankcase bolt behind the drain plug, but this bolt was tight and not the problem.
I then took the machine to the nearest approved dealer for repair, which incidently is a one hundred and eighty mile round trip and not covered by the warranty, only to find that the dealer required a £68.00 deposit before starting to fix the problem, as I had not purchased the machine from this dealer.
So now we find that there is in effect no warranty at all and I have found no provision to contact Briggs & Stratton's Customer Service for complaints, advice or queries.
Claimed loss: Initial loss of £68.00, but this figure is unlikly to be the final sum.
Desired outcome: Please refund the cost of repair and provide a realistic Customer Service whereby we can explain to a real person the problem to be solved in detail.
