We are two seniors (jim) 86, (Cess) 84. We hired Christopher Berkely Construction, through next door. He presented himself as a floor installer, worker for 10 yrs..

We hired him Aug. 11, 2023, He was to start Aug 15, 9:am, We wanted him to remove and replace the flooring in two bathrooms and one linen closet, Plus the front foyer and coat closet. He wrote down what we should purchase which turned out to be Porcelain Tile for the 2 bathrooms, and stick and peal for the foyer,

Chris did not show up on the 15 of August, until 1:45, although he said he would be here at 9:am, He looked at what we had purchased and said it was wrong, and offered to go to Home Depot the next am, and purchase it himself as he would receive a discount, He asked for a check for $300.00, for Ins, purposes?

He than removed all the old flooring, and put the garbage in my car?.

We returned the material to Home Depot,

The next day Aug 16, 23 he again did not show up until 1:30, and asked for a check for $325.00 for the material, that he got in trouble because he charged what he bought on the company credit card, and needed a check for $325.00

for the material, He only brought in 2 boxes of the water proof vinyl planks,

He first went to work on the foyer, cut the pieces wrong and tried to cover it all up with other pieces just laid over the top, and some he used slivers of material to cover seams where they did not line up.

He started laying the planks in one bathroom, did not remove the toilet, or molding there fore there was large gaps, He said he did all the measurements needed and would take the rest of the material home to cut it,

The next day my husband planned on firing him, getting our material back and hire someone else, But he did not show up, and would never answer our calls.

At 8:30m that night he phoned Chris and told him we would like our material back that we paid for, and he would call the police and report this if he did not return it to us. He phoned back in 10 min. and said he would have his daughter drop it off the next morning.
