Auction Monster review: Unauthorized charges to my account! 126

This review was chosen algorithmically as the most valued customer feedback.

I ordered the ebay sales training tool kit. It was supposed to be free, just pay shipping and handling. They charged my account $59.95 and caused my account to be overdrawn. I called the number thats on the site. [protected]. They said the charge is for monthly website hosting. Nowhere in any of the information that I have says anything about being charged for this. Once they have your card number they just charge whatever the funk they want. I created such a fuss on the phone they said they reimbursed my account and cancel my order.

Try calling [protected]. Press 1 and then 2 to see what they will do. Hopefully this will prevent them from even trying to get the money again. 2nd if they won't comply with giving you info about the "account" you can file charges with the police as well as file as fraudulent charges through the bank. Hopefully they would be able to get your money back.

I was able to call the customer service number and talk to the billing department and they canceled right away. #[protected]. Whether or not there will be future charges we will need to wait and see.

As I have read through your complaint with this company I decided to go check them out and if you people didn't get so excited over getting something free maybe you could of see the Terms and Conditions that are posted on the page where you enter your credit Card info. Its stated in 12point font that if you fail to cancel in the trial which is 10 days then you will be charged. What could be more clear? They also give you the customer service number so you can call and cancel with them. I signed up with them just to see how everything worked and I canceled 7 days after i ordered it and all I was charged was the $1.87 for the SH the reps that I spoke to were very nice and helpful and nothing further was charged. So if you wouldn't be so lazy and cheap about getting something for free and read what is clearly stated on the website then you wouldn't get charged. Because they do disclose all the info on the page where you sign up your just too damn lazy to read it!

Thanks,
Phallynn.

I was thumbing through my bank statements today; which I will start looking at every month now because I noticed I was $200.00 off in my checking account. I quickly started going through the statements and sure enough the $59.95 a month charge is there along with a phone number. Of course it is Saturday; so I left a message. We will see what happens on Monday.I did not go through with the purchase of there services but some how they got my information anyway. I hit the cancel button not the submit button I think something illegal is going on here.

I just wanted to say i followed Deon's advice and so far it was absolutely spot on.

I tried to get Barclaycard to stop them taking payments but there were absolutely useless.

My experience with Auction Monster is below if you can be bothered reading it.

I bought what I thought was just a single CD with information on it regards to Auction Monster. When you complete the order you agree to the terms and conditions as a normal online transaction. What you dont realize is that as part of there terms and conditions they state that unless you cancel the subscription you will be charged a monthly fee. Who reads terms and condition when all you are buying is a CD?

Very clever way of getting you to hand over cash.

Thanks again Deon.. I look forward to seeing my full refund!

Alex.

I too tried to sign up with them but before i put my credit card info I read their agreement and it did state that you will be charged monthly fees and the $59.95 fee, so they did disclose this, people just need to read things before quickly and easily giving up credit card information to anyone. It's true you might be excited over something that sounds good but always take the time to read before you leap. After I read that I decided not to sign up with them.

I simply asked for information on this company online & before I knew it I have been charged 3 times on my credit card! These are not small amounts either. I try to call & cannot get through on the phone. There is just a "click" & then no one is there! I have contacted my credit card company to change my credit card #, but somehow they managed to get my new number as well. I am now waiting to fill out complaint forms from my credit card company so that they can reverse these charges and hopefully block them! Scammers!

If you keep access to their account they charge you the fee. I have just discovered that they are still charging my account even though I have cancelled my account.

Actually if you read the "Terms and Conditions" before you sign up, it says that Auction Monster will be billing you 59.95 monthly and you can call [protected] to cancel anytime.

I called my bank and got information on filing a dispute. Then i called auction monster directly [protected] and spoke with a very rude man, who told me that it was the "customers fault" because they don't read everything. I proceeded to ask me for his name, and he gave me his first but stated that he was not allowed to give out his last name. you can't tell me that if you work in customer service that you cannot give out your last name. I told him that he was afraid that i was going to report him LOL.

He gave me a confirmation number and said that it would be refunded within 3-10 days. Good riddance! It caused me to get over 100 in overdraft charges from my bank. >:o

I have just discovered that Auction Monster has made 5 deductions from my credit account without my knowledge for items I NEVER ordered or received.
MY BANK IS NOW IN THE PROCESS OF GETTING MY FUNDS BACK AND HAVING THIS COMPANY CHARGED WITH CREDIT CARD AND IDENTITY THEFT. All of my cards have now been canceled due to these rogues (WHO SHOULD BE IN JAIL) and hopefully will be soon.

It doesn't stop with Auction Monster! Now I'm getting notices in the mail that .. oh lucky me .. I have been signed up for some overpriced, worthless "service" for "ONLY" $12.95 a month!

If these ###s are tapping your account you should IMMEDIATELY cancel any cards. Your financial institute will issue you a new one. This puts a roadblock up so these thieves can't steal any more from you. You can also lodge a formal complaint with your bank. They will have you fill out a statement regarding the thrift. The bank will put the money back into your account and go after these losers.

When I talked with the fool at Auction Monster he was such a hack as to be chewing gum while we talked! That alone tells you what low life's these people are!

Oh, and you should also post messages all over the "Net in regards to your experiences.

Fools like Auction Monster give all Internet biz a bad rap. Report them!

A further search of my bank account reveals that Auction Monster has been accessing my account monthly for an unauthorized $54.95 since January, 2007. I have tried repeatedly to reach them by phone with no luck...only an answering machine. WHAT CAN BE DONE?

I agree wholeheartedly with the complaint. This company (?) charged my checking account $54.95 without my knowledge or authorization. When i called the number listed [protected]), they were not available and i left a very urgent message for a return call twice and have never heard from them.

Yes, I am a victim too here. How on earth do you find out where to get this fools to stop taking money from your account for a service you neither want nor need. I have contacted my bank to hopefully stop payments but these people definitely are on a good thing by the looks of things. At, ofcourse, the expense of others.

I will be taking the matter further to the appropriate authorities and hopefully get some recompense. Shutting them down would be the preferred outcome.

I will keep you all up to date on where I end up with this.

Tell everyone you know to watch out for this SCAM. I feel such a twit.

Follow up on Auction Monster:

I was able to catch these thieves at the gate... through my bank's online interface. I asked them to stop the payment and sent them the URL to this message board so they could see what a piece of s**** we are all dealing with.

I'm also blogging about these losers!

I appreciate the posts here. I only wish I would remember to do this sort of research BEFORE making any online payment! There are a lot of good companies online but all it takes are a few bad apples to spoil it for everyone.

I think that when u order stuff like that online you have to read everything! terms agreements policies. It does state that there is a monthly charge of 60 bucks.you have to call a cancel the fee before 14 days. Thats why your being charged but then i got sucked into it too.i mean a 2 bucks to earn a thousand? Now all i have to do is call and cancel but sometimes it just doesn't work. They still charge you. :( i got excited and sucked in [censored], its sad cuss i work in retail. lol

I have a problem with them too, however the phone number they have on the cd, when I dial it, it says the number is wrong or can't be accessed by a mobile phone - but I'm not dialing from my mobile phone! So frustrated, they keep taking $60 per month from my account and I can't contact them to stop it...

I see that every complaint regarding Auction Monster on this site has to do with the credit card charges. What I believe is that the people doing the complaining are typically lazy people who didn't bother to read the clear information that is presented in the Auction Monster ad. I have not signed up for the ad, however, it clearly states that after the free trial period of 10 days, $59.95 will be deducted from credit card accounts as an ongoing fee. It also mentions an additional $12.95 monthly fee.

Since not one complaint here is in regard to the effectiveness of the program (whether it works or not), I can't help but think it may actually be a good thing.

I have a website and sell on the internet. One frequent thing I see is that people who visit my website ignore most of the instructions and explanations I have made available to them. People are stupid and lazy and don't want to take the time to become informed. Then they blame it on the website owner when they reap the reward for ignoring the information provided to them.

The complaints here never mention the 10 day free trial period, or when the so called "unauthorized" charges were made to their credit cards. They just say the money was taken. If it was taken after the 10 day trial period, these ******* have no grounds for complaints.

The same unauthorized charge of $59.95 showed up on my account. I decided to investigate further, because I could not find any transaction receipt showing that I purchased this agreement. This was a link sent to me by another income-generating program:

http://auctionmonster.securemediacenter.com/?file=indexnp.html&affiliateid=id&sub_affiliateid=subid&FiliAff=3980&sid=1203

If you look closely at the bottom of the sign-up section, they mentioned the free toolkit. However, there is so-called added "BONUS", which "... includes a 10-day trial to your very own Web Store". What they neglected to mention is that after the 10-day trial period, your account will be automatically charged, in this case, $59.95! This is very misleading and falls under "Falls Advertisement". Also, you will notice that their contact information is nowhere to be found on the web site.

There is a legal infraction here...

I've been stung by this group of scammers too. The most annoying thing is that I'd never heard of them until I saw the Company name on my cc statement! According to my cc company they took £2.88 in May, then another £34.11 on 28 June 2007.

All of us who have so far made a complaint appear to have a common link - eBay & Paypal. This makes me think there's something wrong with their site security. I'm 199% certain that I've definitely bought anything from this company, so something fraudulent is happening somewhere and costing all of us a great deal of heartache (& money!)

I'm now attempting to claim my money back from my cc - fingers crossed that I succeed. I can't afford for someone to be stealing money from me each month.
Have tried to contact them on the number given and sat on hold for approx 15mins - another expensive phone call!

I am getting a real headache from this fraudulent company. They never contact be back. I hve been trying to cancel my account with calls messages, in writing and emails since the day I opened it and have had no confirmation reply. The terms state that I had the right to cancel within the first 3 days. On the fourth day, money was taken from my credit card - this is a scam website...

Calling their number from the UK, I just seem to be on hold permanently (which costs more money I don''t have!).

Paul.

I just noticed this charge of 59.95 from my checking account and I do not order anything and do not use eBay. What the heck is this"? I have notified my bank and will contact the company and notified the Better Business in addition I plan to contact an attorney.

I would like to know how a company can access someone's account and fraudulently withdrawal without consequences.

Did anybody read the disclosures link stating after the free 14 day trial, there will be a $59.95 monthly charge on your credit card and another monthly charge for about $12.99 per month membership for discount for buying their products at discount? The link is available before you agree for the $1.87 plus tax charge.

Well i canceled my account and disputed all four non authorized charges. The 1.87 auction monster charge was credited back to my account by the bank and a 49.22 charge by valenterprises was canceled. And recredited to my account by the charger (who had called me at home before shipping their product which time i told them i did not authorize the purchase ) and two other small charges are under investigation. All four charges are each under different company names but were all made on the same day and must be related.

Same thing just happened to me (small charge followed by $59.95), although I never had any type of transaction with these people. I have no idea how they got my credit card number unless eBay / PayPal security has failed. I would suggest disputing any charge from Auction Monster.
