Auction Monster review: Unauthorized charges to my account! 126

This review was chosen algorithmically as the most valued customer feedback.

I ordered the ebay sales training tool kit. It was supposed to be free, just pay shipping and handling. They charged my account $59.95 and caused my account to be overdrawn. I called the number thats on the site. [protected]. They said the charge is for monthly website hosting. Nowhere in any of the information that I have says anything about being charged for this. Once they have your card number they just charge whatever the funk they want. I created such a fuss on the phone they said they reimbursed my account and cancel my order.

Same here, a charge to my credit card, I had to call safe-cart asap to stop the charges as well my credit card carrier. I CNX my Card.
I have no Idea why my card was charged, $39.90. so I called Safe-Cart on my land line, the same day the charge was placed on my credit card. I stated I did not auth the charge, I was told by the customer service rep at safe-cart that my account would be closed / no charges will be placed on my credit card from Safe-Cart, Then I was told by this service rep she stated that my charge would be charged back, since I CNX their services before the 30 day trial period ended?
If I did not sign up for their service? How and why was I charges in the first place by Safe-Charge?

You're obviously someone who works for the company. You're an idiot. This is scam pure and simple. You can us all the legal jargon you wont it doesn't change the fact that what you are doing is unethical.

The State of New York AG's office went after another company for doing exactly the same thing a few years ago. There was a HUGE settlement in which everyone listed as a victim was given a portion.

I just discovered charges on my cc from this company today, going back for the past three months! To everyone who has posted that you should read the terms and conditions - how can you read the T&C when you never visited the website in the first place and never even knew the company existed! I also never ordered the Ebay auction tool-kit. So although I agree that if you specifically went to the website and ordered the product, it is your own fault. HOWEVER, it appears that they still find a way to get a hold of your cc info, even when you have never visited their website before! This in and of itself should be a warning. I have gone through all of the internet transactions I have made since I started being charged back in February and I have found nothing that relates to Auction Monster, so obviously there is something going on here that is totally unappropriate. I have cancelled my cc and reported the charges as fraudulent. It isn't right to be charged for a product you never even knew was available nor did you have any interest in!

You seem like you've worked for them before. Yes, what they did was legal - but it is bad business practice. They really need to be more upfront about it all. Their first charge is valid - I admit that was my fault. However, I have tried multiple times to get ahold of this company to cancel - with no prevail. This is not the right way to make money.

Hi Blaine,

This is Kathleen with SafeCart. I just wanted to confirm that a SafeCart Customer Service Representative has contacted you regarding your purchase. Please feel free to contact us if you have any further questions.

I would also like to offer a bit of background information regarding SafeCart. SafeCart provides online sellers of digital products such as downloadable software, e-books, web site subscriptions and the like, the facilities to accept credit card and PayPal payments through our secure shopping cart and checkout.

When a purchase is made from a publisher who uses SafeCart internet payment services, the payment processor on the credit card statement shows as www.safe-cart.com. If PayPal was used, SAFECART is displayed. The URL, www.safe-cart.com is our official web site address.

Again, please don't hesitate to get in touch with us with any questions you may have. For quick contact, we have an online form at http://www.safe-cart.com/contact .

I have been charged by this fraud company for a full year with $60 --- which is about $720 that I wasn't even aware of. I was charged to a credit card I barely check, and they decided they were only going to refund me with on payment of $59.95. Does anyone know what I can do to get this money back? I screamed at them before I hung up but I'm still pissed about this company. Howe can all of us be refunded with the money we've been frauded with!?!

After complaints to AMEX to remove the unauthorized charges and getting a new credit card to stop the charges, AMEX let another one through! Auction Monster alledged this was a subscription service. I had never heard of the group, I don't use E-Bay or Pay Pal. I'm don't know how they got my number, but it is sure proving difficult to stop their charges!

I THOUGHT IT WAS A SCAM ALSO, BUT THEN I READ THE TERMS AND CONDITIONS. IT ACTUALLY DOES STAIGHT IT AND THEY WERE WILLING TO WORK WITH ME AND SHOW ME WHERE IT WAS. I FEEL DUMB NOW, BUT I GUESS WE SHOULD ALL READ THE T & C BEFORE WE CALL AND COMPLAIN! IT SAYS ITS A 10 DAY TRIAL AND THE 11TH DAY IT WOULD BILL YA 59 95 UNTIL U CALL TO CANCEL IT. JUST SO YOU ALL KNOW, JUST CANCEL AND U WONT GET CHARGED, JUST LIKE THE TERMS SAID

I had exactly the same issue, kept writing letters as I reside in the UK and no way as I going to pay out for international calling charges on top of the £30+ that Auction Monster were charging my CC every month.
I have since cancelled my CC and got a new one, no more charges so far.
Auction Monster is one hell of a scam!
Been going on for ages!

Appearently they have several affiliate websites that you can do to to purchase this software and generate your own income. I had taken a look at www.incomeathome.com as I heard about it on my local Christian Radio station. I didn't purchase anything, but got a call a few days later from someone at auction monster asking if I wanted to subscribe.

I wasn't about to pull my credit-card out, but it seems I was one of the few that didn't purchase the "software" after having seen it.

I was sucked into the whole auction monster ordeal but figured out how to stop the charges without contacting my bank and having them stop the charges. Here's what I did:

Go to: http://www.reg.net/Customers/MyOrder.asp

Then: type in your e-mail address and last 5-digits of the card thats being charged.

The next page that pops up should be your order information.

Write down your order number and e-mail (info@reg.net)

Give them you Order # and Name and let them know that you would like to cancel your order.

It took them about a week to credit my account for the last transaction but that's it. I was only charged twice the $59.95 fee. If you have more than one charge I don't think they will credit you back everyone. Hope this helps anyone!

I agree totally with everything said here. Then I just found out that a company named Residual Savings is charging me $12.95
per month for a hosting site that supposedely came in Auction Monster's terms - bull larkey. They are crediting three months back to me and canceling because I never received a user name, password, card, or any other communique from them, so how I was to use this supposed account I signed up for?

Uh! Their fault, so I get my money back Ha.

I ordered the ebay sales training tool kit. It was supposed to be free, just pay $1.87 shipping and handling. About 3 or 4 days ago they sent me a CD or something that looks like it (I haven't even open the paxkage yet). But what's my surprise this morning when I checked on my online credit card account? Those thiefts also charged my account $59.95 and caused it to go over the roof! I called their number thats on the their CD pack.

[protected], an answering machine prompted me to leave a message, as it's out of their business hours. I haven't left any message because I want to speak to somebody directly. I'll call again tomorrow & the day after that until they credit back my account. I won't let them get away with that.

I'll keep you posted on the outcome.

Altough I hate when these companies do stuff like this and charge your card it is easy enough to get it removed. My question is with all of this energy surrounding this did anyone ever make money? does the product actually work?

Same problem here! After receiving their cheap-crap info CD and company rep called and asked if I was excited about the program. Hardly, I told him. It would not even load on my computer. I told him I was absolutely not interested in the program, I thought that would be the end of it… until $59.95 charges began being deducted from account.
A contact with customer support said the AM rep was not authorized to cacel the "membership". How the hell was I supposed to know that? Why didn't the rep suggest who I needed to contact?
I'll tell you why? Cause the company is a f***ing scam, that's why.
I have filed with the bank fraud department and with the Attorney General of Texas. I would suggest all of do so as well.

Auction Monster is a FRAUD! They say they are charging you $1.87 for shipping and handling and then charge you $60 for "Monthly Access". You can call [protected] and go to billing and talk to a girl named Chelsea, but she is pretty useless. She'll tell you the charges are in the fine print and you have to call your bank if you want to be refunded. But at least if you call you can cancel your "Access Membership" and get a cancellation confirmation and not be charged again. BE CAREFUL PUTTING IN CREDIT CARD INFORMATION ONLINE!

I would just like to add that nowhere in all these complaints did I see where anyone said that they read the "Terms and Conditions" at the bottom of the advertisement that explains the charges after the 14 Day Trial. It is all there. I, like many of you, saw the glitter from the advertisement and did not read the Terms. $1.87! Wow! Can't lose! But thru some of the info from this site, I called them right away and got a prompt cancellation. No questions asked except after they told me that all was canceled and I would not be billed further. Grow up people! Read it all! Do your homework first before making a decision. I learned something here and also will do my homework first. Guilty Also! I think they should put something in the body of the advertisement to carefully read the "Terms and Conditions" first before ordering.
