I have been reading all of these reports about Americredit, and am relieved that I am not crazy! 2 years ago I bought my daughter a car and the dealership put me thru this company. I should have known that things would not go well when they lost my first money order payment! Believe me it went down hill from there! We had the car for almost one year. In the 7th month I became very ill and spent almost a month in the hospital. I did get behind in my payments (60 days).

These people were ruthless, but I finally made one payment and made arrangements to make the other and the next payment. That very day when my daughter came home from school, she no more got out of the care in front of the house when they screeched up and towed it away right in front of her. I looked over my contract and found that I had taken out the insurance for death and disability, and it also covered illnesses, that after calling the insurance co, found they would cover. I called Americrap and they told me they did not have to honor that insurance and even though I had made arrangements that morning, that now that they had the car I would have to pay an ungodly amount to get it back.

After finally finding out where the car was, I too had to pay to get our own things back, a lot of things were not there, and they had been thrown in trash bags, sat on the floor and the dog that was 'guarding' the place had urinated on most of the bags. While talking with the person that recovered the car for Americrap he said to me ' I was kinda glad to here you were not gonna try to get the car back cause they said they would make a deal with me to buy it and it would make a great car for my daughter.'

I actually had intentions of trying to get my daughter's car back, but let me tell you they were not gonna let that happen and didn't. I to this day have never gotten anything saying what they sold the car for. The only thing I have gotten is a bill for 23, 000. I only financed 21, 000 and had paid for a year on it. Of course they do some kind of new math I guess, or they just gave the car away!

If there is someone out there who can help all of us that would be great! But anyone reading these watch out! Americrap will get you!

My experience with them is a horror story also. Someone that was upset with me called them and told them that I wanted a voluntary reposession because I could no longer afford my car. the car was picked up even though they could not contact me to verify if I still wanted this to be done. The person that contacted them gave them unverifiable information. Infact the person that contacted them went into my mailbox and got my monthly statement and contacted them. The company did nothing to verify that it was me for security. The paper the reposession company gave me was an order to voluntarily reposess. I went round and round with them and told them I never contacted the company. They told me to contact americredit. I did they told me that they had no proof I didn't contact them. I told them it wouldn't make much sense for me to be calling fussing about it. I sent letters to their board, legal department, and the department I had a complaint against. I was told I needed to pay them and that they changed my voluntary reposession to an involuntary reposession. I no how hard things are to get being on disability an there was no way I would have made that call. After much dispute with this company nothing has worked to clear up this matter and provide relief to my tarnished credit. I am seeking civil damages against the person who caused the havoc. I need to know what to do about americredit. I am so disgusted with that company. This has been going on for 2yrs now. Please help me. Has a class action suit been filed. They gave out personal information about me to the person that did this.
