Advanta bankCredit card

I had a credit card with advanta and some how due to financial hardship was not able to make payments and wanted to have a settlement to pay off the card balance for reduced amount. After lot of phone calls and uncourteous conversation with everyone at this BANK managed to have the settlement to be paid over a period of few months. Did it as was aggreed on and I tell you these peolpe kept bothering me phone calls after phone calls for the remaing money( over the settlement amount). I paid all that we had aggreed on the settlement letter they sent me with dates to be paid by. They went into my credut history to put down BAD DEBT and many more notes to screw up my screwed up Credit history. Need to have an explaination why they made those notes on my credut history when they and me were in a settlement state. This abnk is a pretty lousy and cheap bait and catch type of bank. God please keep the good people away from these most idiotic banks. I will never nor the peolple I know will ever deal with them. I need to know the name of the Chairman of this bank to see if I can write to him.

Count me in for a class action suit against these greedy, incompetent, heartless people. Unbelievable that they can operate a business. I filed a complaint with the FDIC. I would love to pursue a class action.

Oh thank goodness I checked Advanta complaints because I thought it as just me. I have only used them for fixed balance transfers and have had a fairly decent relationship. Jan. '08 we used the card for a car rental for $199 and they hit me with a 24.99% interest rate. I was shocked so I called and they basically had no answer as to why except that I signed a contract and they could. This month they hit me with a 37.18% interest rate so I called again and got the same result and same answer. I made some snippy remark and he acted all insulted. Ha ha he should feel insulted that he is such a bottom feeder he'd work for these guys.

I contacted my attorney general but they will only forward my complaint. If they recieve any of the T.A.R.P. you'd think this kind of behavoir wouldn't fly. I'd be very interested in a class action suit.

The exact same thing happened to me! 7.99% fixed rate for new purchases & 0% for balance transfers until 8/08 then to 7.99% if any balance remained.

They upped my interest rate to 32%. I called and they said that was not the promo offering..but why was I paying 7.99% up until 10/08?? Talked to several people at Advanta and I believe they are payed to LIE!

This is Bait & Switch and they profile people in a very unethical way! My credit rating is 724.

I got a Credit card (samll business) from Advanta Bank in May 08, caught by VERY attractive offer on balance transfers (0% for 15 mo) and good rate on purchases (7.99%). In Sept I received a GENERIC amendment to CC agreement bumping my rate to 26%. Customer service - including supervisor - claim this is based on an individual review of my credit rating, income/debt ratio and payment history...

YET all the above are excellent: I've been paying more than min payments on time or early -EVEN THOUGH PAYMENTS Go towards the INTEREST -FREE section of my total balance due...- They must be in financial trouble and trying to get more cash from us or they are truly abusing the system and their executives should be in JAIL.

I conquer with Fred in LA (posting 359279) and wish I could contact him but there is no contact address in his posting.

I previously mentioned that everyone who has been ripped off by Advanta Bank Corp should tell Congress, the news media, their State attorney general. I believe that the Advanta CEO needs to know what his bank is doing to hard working Americans!

    Write, fax, or call:

Dennis J. Alter, CEO/Chairman of the Board Directors

    Welsh and McKean Roads

    P.O. Box 844

    Spring House, PA 19477

    Tel: [protected]

    Fax: [protected]

Complain and tell him how you have been ripped off by Advanta Bank Corp. He needs to know so that when Congress calls him on the spot, he cannot say that he did not know!

Let's put a stop to Advanta Bank Corp and all the other predator banks. Why should American taxpayers bail these bank when they are already getting into our pockets!

Advanta lied to get my business, then charged bogus charges and posted payments late to be able to revoke the 0% introductory rate. Their customer service is unbelievably rude and they have now posted the fraudulent information to experian on my credit report. I am an accountant that works for the county, own a golf course and have written and managed credit & collection processes. I am more than capable and have always paid my bills.

They repeatedly call me at the golf course, work and now on my cell phone. They lack morals and integrity. The bullies have no conscience!

I have experienced the same issue with my interest rate going from 7.99 to 24.99 with no notice. I called and they claim to have sent a letter of this change yet that is not true they send you those checks out every month and printed the change on the back and no one notices until they go to pay their bill earlier and notice there finance charges have risen to an unaffordable level.

Does any know which attorney generals office to file a complaint with? If so please post. Thank you another irate customer just trying to make a living.

We have excellent credit and advanta business card raised our rate to 35%!!! We are a small business in business since 1989 never late on any payment we received our statement with the rate from 7.9% to 35% the reason the guy said is that they have so many businesses not paying they have to get their money some how! We cannot afford 500.00 a month interest!! This has to be illegal! what can we do?? We cannot transfer because no ones lending so thanks to this loan shark lending they will most likely put us into bankruptcy.

I cannot believe Advanta. I have been a good customer for years, and had 7.99% without a problem, even after a late payment. But now, just 3 months after I take advantage of a $10, 000 cash advance that they promised would stay at 7.99%, they have raised it to over 30%!!! They can give me no justifiable reason other than "your credit report has changed".

    I asked "how"...

They reply, "you just don't deserve a 7.99% rate anymore"

    Can you believe this?

I was on time with payments, and a good customer for years. Not anymore. Next call is to a bankruptcy lawyer, and Advanta can choke on the fact that they will not get a dime back from me now. Idiots.

I hope the greedy ### burn in ***... how can they conduct business like this?

DO NOT GET a Big Cash Advance... once you do they know they have you.

...and where the *** are all the class action lawsuit lawyers???

Our Advanta Small Business card went from 7.9 to 22% with a 2 week notice. We use our card for business travel, and we have had no issues with late payments or any default issues. Our original agreement stated that we would have a 7.99% fixed rate for a lifetime if we did not default. This was a lie, and they threw in enough fine print to mix it up in their favor. When we called to try to establish a better rate, they would not even consider a change on our behalf, even though we had been excellent customers and had an excellent credit score.

It is not worth a lawsuit, but I want everyone to know that this is not a company to be trusted!

My complaint is against Advanta Bank, Utah. Had the card at the 0%. My wife died about a year after I received the card. Called them and told them the circumstances and that i would be about 2 weeks late. They said no problem (Lie 1). They raised me to 7.9%. I had told them it took most of my last $5000 dollars to bury her. The ghouls sooned raised my to 29% and eventually to 31%. I had only at first been a month behind. The harrasing phone calls came in a barrage and never stopped, Tried to negotiate by they told me they could not (Lied again). I found out that they would notr negotiate until you are 90 days in the rears and even then, they offered very little help. I had to got to CCCS to have them stop the 31%. They are among the worst to deal with. Never thought a company could be as mean spirited as they are. Looking for those who had similar experiences for a possible legal proceedings
