I am writing this complaint after being a loyal member of AAA for 23 years. In the past few years when I have requested assistance I was left in limbo for multiple hours. Most of which were in a remote or unfamiliar area. Just know it won’t make a difference if you tell the dispatcher that you are in an unsafe area.

Incident one was a July 4th battery issue in a town that I was unfamiliar with. I requested assistance via the app and multiple times it stated help was on the way and then not. After multiple hours I googled for help on my own, They arrived promptly on a holiday. (I had been told by a representative from a previous incident that if I didn’t feel that they were not coming in a reasonable time to call my own and send them the bill for reimbursement).

Incident two was a car breakdown on an on-ramp on a cold winter night. I even turned 2 police officers away because I was told someone was on their way. After multiple hours the dispatched tow arrived and informed me that he had just received the call.

Incident 3 was a vehicle breakdown in a remote area of Kansas with limited or no cell service. When I was finally able to get cell service I requested assistance and told them that I was aware of the extra mileage beyond my 100miles and I would pay for that. After many hours of waiting I noticed that I had a voicemail but no missed call. They were needing verification that I would pay the extra miles. I had already secured my own assistance since it was getting later and later as well as darker and darker. To get my vehicle back to my home it cost me $1524 in tow bills and so that is what I requested. They sent me $740 saying that there was only one tow they would pay for per breakdown per my membership agreement. So, out of that $1524 they also deducted the $100 miles that my policy covers. It was an additional 100 miles to my home.

I am DONE with this company and their promises. You will be left stranded for multiple hours and will most likely never get the needed assistance.

To add insult to injury I was never able to talk to anyone about this most recent incident. No one would return my phone calls and no one would answer the number on the paperwork that was with the check. It was not until I visited a local office in person did I get any response.

23 years of wasted membership fees…. I DO NOT recommend this company.
